It was a dream come true when I got a chance to meet up with the robust musician Malini Rajurkar. Being a Hindustani vocalist myself I have idolised her through my learning years. My penchant for freelance journalism helped me to meet this very great personality whom I found to be very humble and straightforward.

Truly she is one of the rear breeds of classicist that exist today. Her concerts are a treat when it comes to sheer brilliance of rendering a Rag. And who can match those flawless tans, which put you on a high. I am particularly fond of her Taranas and Tappas which she is a master of...Malini ji?s music is a good guide to any aspiring vocalist...Her?s is a complete music.

The Gharana series is a must have collection. The music is soothing and very classical. A treat for Hindustani music connoisseurs.

I highly recommend it as well as all her albums. She is the best, no doubt.

When I heard Malinitai for the first time on a musicassette, I was simply spellbound by the command she displayed on her vocal chords. She has always maintained a very low profile and has not been seen very often in the rat race for name and fame. But what she dishes out in concerts and in music albums are just out of this world. She is equally at ease with the pure classical ones as she is with the lighter variations of the same, like Tappa, Thumri and Bhajans. I have always wondered how a lady with a relatively modest background could acquire such a command on all the aspects of Hindustani Classical (Vocal) music. I have had the good fortune of attending some of her concerts and have always returned with a crave for more.

In the current album, Malinitai has done full justice to the rich heritage(Gharana, in Hindi)of the Gwalior School, which is considered to be mother/ best source of many other schools of music. The variations that one is exposed to in the Gwalior Gharana and the different Bandishes that have enriched this Gharana have been very elegantly brought out by Malinitai in this album.

I recommend even those who do not have a formal grooming in Classical Music to listen to Malini Rajurkar to appreciate the beauty that is inherent in our rich classical heritage. They say, it is important to become a KAANSEN if you cannot afford to become a TAANSEN. May be Malinitai will lead you to your first steps in this direction.

It is a very good album, brought out by the oldest and the most famous music house HMV. Like all other albums of this versatile artiste, I strongly recommend people to listen to it to appreciate the richness of the artiste's voice and command over the different nuances of classical Indian music.

I have been learning classical music for the last 14 years and I have some knowledge about Indian classical music, though I am still a student of Indian Classical music,to evaluate an artist like Malini Rajurkar is not in my capacity.

I feel she has a beautiful voice and a Khazana of knowledge.

Her laykaari and taans are a delight to hear.

I am a very big fan of her music and the CD that HMV has released is nice and I would recomend this to anyone.
