Five Worst Serials of the Year

The journey of TV serials on Indian television began from the ‘Buniyaad’ and ‘Hum Log’ era and this journey continued with names like ‘Kabhi Sautan Kabhi saheli’, ‘Chandan ka palna resham ki dori’, ‘Kahin diya jale kahin jiya’…. Thought-provoking names, aren’t they!? (I actually wanted to translate these names but when I translated ‘Kahin diya jale kahin jiya’ as ‘A lamp burns somewhere and the mind somewhere else!’ I remembered that my English teacher is a heart patient… so I am very sorry, I cannot translate those names!)

When I thought of writing about the WORST TV serials, I wish to mention the following things which are predominantly seen throughout these serials, and which irritate me and most of us:

1. Extremists co-exist. For every serial, if we have a Tulsi or a Parvati, we also have a Payal and a Pallavi. The first two are the ‘saviors’ of their families and take their families out of every problem that comes their way. Yo! While the next two find joy in ‘barbaad kar dungi’ and those stupid laughters of theirs.

   
   




2. The ladies of the house (Most of these serials revolve around families) put on their makeup, wear those costly saris and ‘work’ in their kitchens. A menacing ‘nanad’ taunts the bhabhi who goes running to the stairs…. a favourite place of bhabhis where they cry!

   
   




3. The male members of the families are supposedly businessmen. But they are at home almost the whole day in their kurta pyjamas and all of them are merely ‘joru ke ghulams’ and they don’t really take a stand when it comes to beta ditching the newly-wed bahu, and it always has to be the ‘saas’.

   
   




4. The serials say they propagate Indian Culture. Point to be noted that all the goody-goody ladies like Parvati and Tulsi have to face problems, while the blouseless and the treacherous Komolikas have fun.

   
   




5. The Family planning programme never reached these families for each and every person has atleast three children (exclusive of the ‘naajayaz’ bachhas).

   
   




6. Marriages are held on a grand scale (no, no objections about that!) but no marriage stays for more than 25 episodes. Each and every couple atleast has one divorce or atleast one ‘main-ghar-chhod-ke-jaa-rahi-hoon’. (I am leaving the house) Example, Gautam’s wife Damini from Kyunki… is his third wife (The first two being Ganga and Teesha, the former was ditched by him and the latter was killed in a car accident.).

   
   

So here come the FIVE WORST HINDI TV SERIALS: (Starting from the fifth position)

1. Bhabhi (Star Plus)

She is Pushpa, and she is the bhabhi of the house. But no one calls her by that name, anything from ‘kulta’ to ‘chharitraheen’ will do. Then we have a menacing Manju who was actually shown killing another elderly character.

The scenes are just too loud and the emotions melodramatic. The story was stretched like an elastic rubber band, and before they could do something about it, the relevance, continuity and power of the story had already broken off.

1.             Piya Ka Ghar (Zee TV)

Piya Ka Ghar is a really wrong name. A title should suit the content of the serial and the name in this case should have been Peeya Hua Ghar. The characters include Rimjhim who has a 24-hour tear tap fitted in her eyes, her mother-in-law who is just too famous for her ‘Ae Ladki!’, the teddy bear Alok Nath  and the dumbest of them all, the Piya (I don’t remember his name!).

The very weird title track where the singer goes ‘Peeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaaa kaaaaaaaaaaaaa, peeeeeyaaaaaa kaaaaaaaaa gharrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr’ is the only tolerable part of this serial.

1.             Kasauti Zindagi Kay (Star Plus)

Yet another serial of the extra-marital-affairs-and-naajaayaz-bachha genre. The two protagonists of the serial are called Anurag and Prerna who are madly in love with each other. But No KweenKapoor serial can be so simple! We have Bajaj who is in love with Prerna. We have Aparna who is in love with Anurag. Menaka is in love with Bajaj. And very recently Yash Tonk (‘Kunal Sikand’ from ‘Kaahin kisi roz’) has made an entry, and he loves Aparna. Love is omnipresent they say, this serial proves it right.

1. Devi (Sony Entertainment Television)

This serial produced by Devgan Software is not too famous but still it is worthy of the second spot when it comes to the WORST SERIALS. A poor little Gayatri is thrown off the cliff by her husband. And when he comes back home, he sees her there with his parents. She’s actually Devi who has taken Gayatri’s ‘roop’.

Melodrama, violence, torture at its peak. We have Aman Varma who makes gestures that look like the way a lame goat would run (the reason, our TV serials? Maybe.) More than that, the producers should actually consider the fact that these serials will be watched by everyone throughout the country and this will only add to the superstitious beliefs.

1. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Star Plus)

Tulsi, Mihir, Ansh, Gayatri, Savita, Mansukh, Baa, Gautam, Aniket, Teesha, Damini, Karan, Ganga, Sahil, Mandira, Baapuji, Nandini, Pooja, Hemant, Prajakta, Harsh, Indu, Sejal, Shobha, Vishal, Payal, Tarun, Himmat, JD, Aarti, Karishma….all these are names of members from just one family.and many more jesters join this tear-filled fare.

Each son having three sons/daughters, each of them with a problem of his own. The problems continue, Tulsi continues crying on those stairs, Baa is in such state that just one tickle and she would collapse. Hemant is Pooja’s third husband, just as I said earlier, Damini is Gautam’s third wife, Sahil is Ganga’s second husband…. Thank God, they have spared Babuji and Baa!

Hats off to the producers, directors, screenplay-writers of these serials who make our TV scene a very meaningful and sensible place!

Ladies and Gentleman hold your breath because I am going to announce the most prestigious award of five worst serials on Indian Television today which every TV serial maker would like to have in their closet.

The five worst serials are:

5) Kskbt-I believe this is one of most over hyped serials on TV. I have included it in my list because it has totally degenerated story wise and to fill air time it is sometimes used by Ekta Kapoor to promote her brother's movies.

4) kumkum- which stars Juhi Parmar and Hussain has nothing more than rona dhona in terms of plot.Acting by main cast is average and I feel that Juhi overdoes it sometimes.

3) sanjivani- this serial which is produced by cinevistas is prime example of plot going awry. It had started out as a medical drama, which was later converted to soap and has now turned int a terrorist drama.

2) kasauti zindagi kii- it is worst serial produced by Balaji according to me because only track this serial has is that of Anurag marrying and betarying marrying and betraying. I think Shweta Tiwari should take crying lessons from Tulsi.

1) bhabhi- bhabhi serial deservingly receives the crown of being the worst serial since it has poorest and wackiest storyline and one of worst performances by cast.

There were many other contenders like des main nikla hoga chand, kehta hai dil and devi who were quite close but lost out due to partisan voting by jury members.

Television is a very influential medium which goes out to reach the masses. But some serials are totally humbug and dumb. (I have deliberately not included any of Kekta Kapoor’s serials... all of them are equally bad!!)

Sonpari

This serial is supposed to be for kids... and has a pari.. i.e. a fairy..named Sona Aunty. And the kid’s name is Fruity and her brother’s name is Appy... and has n number of friends and they get into trouble and that sonpari helps them.. Nothing can be as annoying as sonpari.

Hatim

The new series started on Star Plus is inspired from Hatimtai.. the seven riddles, the arabian nights.. even movies are made on this topic.. but its as bad as Sonpari.

Shh.. Koi Hai

This is supposed to be a thriller.. and had Vikraal aur Gabraal and then Trikaal... and some Bijli... or whatever.. this serial is not atall scary and it only manages to bring laughter!!

Shakalaka Boom Boom

The kid Sanju had a magic pencil...(it had a creepy looking cap...) and whatever he used to draw with that pencil, came to life!!.. But now, the story is inspired by Harry Potter and it has Jadooo High School... I’m sure no one is interested in knowing further!! hehe

C.I.D

It was interesting in the beginning.. but now its totally dumb! This is how they will talk..

Mona Ambegaohkar : Is cake ke box pe doodh hai.

and it continues!! (For those who don’t understand Hindi.. the above dialoge is totally dumb.. and senseless.. )

Piya Ka Ghar

The ever annoying Alok Nath and that female Narayani Shastri.. i.e. Rimjhim.. whenever anyone is trouble Rimjhim thinks that she has to help them out!!Next time if anyone has constipation, let her know!!

Kumkum

The daily soap starting with K but is not related to Kekta. That female Juhi Parmar is extremely annoying. Once a friend forwarded me Kumkum ringtone! Sometime back, they had Kumkum’s look alike.. who is a village simpleton and her name was Chanda.. and whenever she came on screen, the background music will go ’’mein chanda...... another vamp had a takiya kalam as Tol mol ke bolu.. she would go ’’Tol mol ke bolu to daadi sathiya gayi hai’’ And that Renuka female wore the most loud clothes she can put her hands on.. Now they also have Aman Verma making a fool of himself in the serial!!

Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand

This is BAD.. After Kekta, Aroona also fast forwarded her serial by few years.. Pammi has the cheapest expressions on her face whenever she will take a deep breath!!! The serial also had that Junglee Saandh.. Amarrr Upadhyay.. with his haunting mole!! He looks like Aroona’s mirror image!LOL

Bhabhi

AAAAhhhh.. Dolly Sodhi with her Pehlwaan chhap face and annoying Mukul Dev.. who looks extremely dumb!!.. The serial is so confusing htat its not practical to write on it!!.. Will come up with a review on Bhabhi soon!!

Tum Bin Jaoon Kahan

After the ’’success’’ of Des.. Aroona went overboard and came up with TBJK.. Dealing with reincarnation and all... this serial is extremely confusing.. and dumb.. and those annoying kundalis and gurujis.. this serial is full of twists and turns!!!

Anyways, I can actually go on till ages... like Shaktimaan, Raja aur Rancho, Jasoos Vijay, Detective Karan.. but I have to stop now.. I may have missed out on few... please be free to add them in comments section!!!

Hello and welcome back to yet another session of the award ceremony for the T.V serials. Although my last rvu didn?t really involve all the category sort of things which this involves but it was for 10 best shows. And so after completing a session of awarding ceremony for the best T.V serials we now move on to award the worst T.V. soaps currently aired.

Ekta kapoor fans watch out, if u were disappointed with my last review you will not be disappointed this time becoz most of the awards will be go the ?K? factor serials (Damn I revealed the suspense. I should have kept my MOUTHSHUT.) Again just to inform u that I m not going to tell any of these serials stories.

One thing I would like to tell u is when these all serials started they were pretty interesting but then story went haywire and because of story dragging people lost interest in them. Although still people watch it no wonder. I said in my earlier rvu that u just can?t keep on going in time machine and moving the serial to one or two decades forward. Don?t take these awards too seriously!!!

KKKKKahin KKKKKKisi Roz

Ladies and gentleman Kahin Kisi roz is a story of reincarnation of Kunal and Shyna who are born with different names (Thank god at least with different names). The old villain Ramola Sikand is still present and Dayi Jaan is also present. What?s so interesting about the story is viewers can (upto a certain extent) digest the reincarnation thing but to be born in the same city where they both died is just amazing. What an imaginary oh sorry what a realistic story!!

Most Number of Characters Award & Most number of Tears shedding award:

And the award goes too?..

No wonder it?s a unanimous choice: Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

Wow what a parivar. Consisting of highest number of members which would make characters of 2-3 different serials and most tear shedding which would make a whole lake of tears (water or glycerine). As far as the set for Shanti-Niketan is concerned I wonder where these people sleep at nights becoz all they show is 3-4 rooms and a dining hall, kitchen and the main hall. What?s more is apart of having so much family members they invite guests also to live here. There is Sejal who never goes to her Sasural. Now Nandini has arrived. Ansh has come back. There are so much characters that sometimes even the director might be confused that whom to cast in what episode!! And that is why sometimes we see Indu for one episode and for the next 10-15 episodes we don?t see her at all(lol).

Update: As per the last episode Gautam is to become a papa so now ?Ba?-the oldest member of the family will be seeing the fourth generation.

Best Location Award

And the award goes to..

Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand..

The serial initially showed London U.K. which was real. But now what they are showing in not London or U.K. Even the temple they show is shown in featured Indian films (I think it?s the same temple in which the legendary Big B had an argument with god in a movie..Khush to bahot hoge na tum???). They show cars like Honda City, Hyundai Accent etc. which are right hand drive available in India and I don?t think they are available in U.K (Or are they?). The Police they show in white clothes is it London police?. And they keep on showing Rohit Sharma and Raj as Dev now even I am confused who is the real Dev or Raj err..

As we move on to the final two categories,

The second last award category is..

Most number of times Lovers are separated in a serial award

And the award goes to?..

Kasauti Zindagi Ki..

So can we count how many times Prerna and Anurag have been separated from each other? First time was when Anurag was married with Kamolika. Then they separated. The next was when Prerna married Mr. Bajaj. Now finally when they married some few 100 episodes be4 they were separated becoz of their son?s death. And the next time when Anurag was married to Aoparna. So Anurag has been married 3 times. I don?t think in reality these things happen. Now we have been into the time machine and pushed forward to some 8 years forward and we see Anurag wearing those night suit type big suits and Prerna? Well she looks now younger then be4.(kon sa fairness cream lagati ho???prerna ji?.)and then there is Shubroto who is absconding, in contact with his wife and guess what sometimes he calls his wife with Nokia 6600 and sometime Nokia 3315. Wow I wish I had so much cell phone models!! Lol. And the latest what we hear is Prerna is once again going to marry Mr. Bajaj. One more thing Kamolika has done so much things to Basu parivar and they still haven?t found out that she is vamp. I mean how is this possible.? In my opinion the only sensible characters of the story are Anurag?s Baba and Rakhee.

And now the final award of the rvu..

Most number of different Get-ups Award

And the Award goes to?.

Karishma ka Karishma?.

A lot of controversy was created when this serial was going to be telecast on T.V. had the big starcast of Bollywood actors and most of all Karisma Kapoor was the main lead of the serial. I didn?t see from a first few episodes. They also repeated the serial about 3-4 times a week. I saw one episode and the next I thought I would see a new episode but then I again saw the same episode. Then suddenly Karisma Kapoor turned old? How did that happen? And one more thing the serial also shows some songs in which Karisma was dancing. Super starcast, Super investment, bad serial.

So this concludes my rvu on the 5 worst serials currently showed on T.V. a lot of u people might be thinking why I didn?t add Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki to it. That?s becoz parvati has been replaced and I think there is a twist in the tale so let?s see?

The other strong contenders for the list were Piya ka Ghar, Kkusum and they were marginally beaten(lol) by the winners.

All that I mention about these is about the serials in Indian channels.

I have a lot of thoughts about this TV serials and here I have got a right topic to explode my emotions. Almost all the serials in India are horrible and troubling except a few. The main target audience for serial makers is women and they are the one who stay in the house for 24 hours and waste their time in watching TV serials. Definitely serials have some impact ton the society but in a bad manner. Yeh Indians wake up why these horrinble things happen in the most powerful media. Something has to done seriously on this issue. It is a slow poison that slowly ruins our society.

Some suc*ing charcteritics of TV serials

1) A family story with lot of characters as relations and lot of branched stories.

2) A woman will play the lead role, She will be kind hearted, patient, efficient, lovable, helping and caring, she has all the good characters of a human being who will sacrifice everything for her family and for her fellow beings.

3) There will be a woman with a contrasting character who is ferocious, greedy, and jealous and she will take revenge on the woman who plays the main role.

4) A love track will be there

5) A useless husband or father character, mostly the male characters shown in serials are useless and less powerful than female characters.

6) To make the serial more interesting in the middle, a main character will expire may be because of some personal problem and dates problem of the artist playing the character.

7) The most horrible thing is the background music. They will have a fixed collection of track for some situations and they will be repeating the same.

8) Dramatic sets inside the studios .The ceiling hits the head of the artists.

9) Recent trend is to make famous actresses who has lost market in cinema to act in the serial and that will fetch a good market for the serial.

10) Nothing different and fresh

11) Comedy series in which somebody will always laugh behind the scenes where the director feel it is comedy but we can’t feel any humour in that scene.

12) Some suspense thrillers are needed to be scary and interesting but instead they are very funny, and if you want to see a real comedy you can watch these kinds of serials.

13) The story is stretched even longer than great china wall based on the number of sponsor and TRB rating.

14) Duration of a serial is 30 minutes. But because if you watch it more closely you can find the serial is telecasted only for 14 minutes out of 30 minutes and rest of the time is for title song at the start and the end and a two time commercial break in between.

And list continues. With all such drawbacks how can I list only five worst serials .All the serials sucks and they are not worth watching. I am completely against the TV serial and even I have written a review recommending a Tamil TV serial, which went to Guinness records. It is welcome if some good efforts and experiments are done in serials also.

Piya ka ghar- ridiculous!!!! the story started off somewhere and is leading somewhere totally different. anyways, I stopped watching it from the point the family discovers rimjhim was already married or something. I have absolutely no idea whats going on now and dont give a damn about knowing it!!! the show is a TOTAL waste of time. its hard to believe how narayani shastri (who deserved an award for her performance in koi apna sa-in my opinion) would choose such a stupid show to act in. I bet she must have gotten paid a great deal otherwise she can do a lot better for a show than that.

heena- without a doubt, this ones gotta leave. its been going on for 4-5 fricken years!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know why and how its so popular in india. here in the US people dont like it from what ive heard. I have never watched more than 2 (literally!!!) episodes and already KNOW what the storyline is. friday nights are boring because a stupid show like heena is on

kusum- this girl needs a life!! she's much sweeter than tulsi!!! who the hell is she to fiddle in other people's businesses? she ends up feeling stupid and proved wrong at the end anyways? besides, the show is also stupid to watch because they changed and/or deleted most of the actors/actresses. mainly from kusum's maternal home (her father, youngest sister, bhabhi, yash, etc.).

Kyunki...kusum...ki kahani...roz...kasauti zindagi ki

All hv one thing in common and that is Ektaa Kapoor.these r serial from K-series.first ektaa creates interest among the viewers by showing indian culture in advertisement then creates excitement then watchable then horrible.

xtra marital affair:-All her serials contain xtra marital afair.is this our culture??in kyunki. mihir has got afair with mandira.in kusum abhay has got isha as the other woman.in kahani.... ajay has got someone (i dont remember the name).in kasauti..anurag was in true love with prerna after he had got married to komolika and prerna was in true love with anurag after marrying rishabh bajaj(although truelove is something different than afair).

stretching like elastic:-These serial hv crossed there elastic limit.the limit after which the serial cant regain its original popularity and audience acceptance.in kyunki.. it was started from mihir-tulsi love story then their marriage and after 1yr (the history repeats itself) it was the same story of their next generation and now the same story will go on for generations. In KKusum, abhay-kusum got divorced only coz of isha and then after they were into a happy life (i wasnt watching but now due to some unavoidable situation I watched it someday) again the same story that after some months again isha,who wasnt interested to be the other woman anymore,is attracted towards abhay.kasauti...was showing understanding between two lovers who were in true love even after they hvnt got married but now after there marriage there understanding vanished and they want divorce.

ektaa doesnt know when to finish:-everything has got an expiry date but K-serials dont hv that. ektaa should know that ppl dont like unending serial.the first part of kutumb was really cool coz it has got an end(i hvnt watched the second part).now 2 of these serials hv started their next generation(kyunki... and kahani...).ekta should end althese serial with a happy ending.these r really getting onto nerves now.

ploting:-all these serial hv got the same plot.a girl-her husband-her saas-her big joint family and an other woman in her life.ekta herself is an working lady but she shows that after marriage girls r meant to be in the kitchen.prerna who was doing job and such a successful business woman, left her business after marrying anurag.kusum who was an employee in abhay's co. was doing work even after marriage but as it shows in the serial it looks like as if kusum is a bahu in the working place also.kyunki... and kahani.. these girls dont know anything except wearing heavy makeup and jewellery.r these the only things Indian families consist of??

horrible turning point:-when ekta drags the serial beyond elastic limit she gives them really horrible turning point.in kyunki... mandira was dead but only to give a turning point mandira was made alive and that to she has got a son from mihir and now when there is no need of mandira again she died in an accident but she gave a new character to the serial as her son.in kasauti... only to give a turn prem(prerna-anurag kid) died in a kidnap case and the misunderstaind between anurag and prerna started.in kusum isha who was out of the serial for months again back and after her back track she was helping kusum-abhaya but then ekta saw nothing more to move the serial so ekta turned the story in such a way that isha again fell in love with abhay.

Why I watch(although some times):-the tragedy in my life is losing control over the remote.i cant find why,what,where,how,when makes ppl take so much interest in watching and discussing these dumb serails.

FOR EKTAA:-ektaa kabhi to hum pe taras khaao:((.kya zindagi bhar bore karne ki kasam khaayi ho???:((.ur serials hv lost there attraction.why should we watch generations after generations???

start something new which will be something different with a new flavour.ur creativity is getting affected with all these same kind of serials.sometimes it feels that ''hey I hv watched this scene already.hmmmm but the cast was different.''so plzzzz stop dragging these serials and give them an end whatever it is.

I dont think these serial can get any star atall.

NEVER watch K-series if u want a good night.

Mondays to Thursdays,the most exciting nights for lady audiences,and Ektaa Kapoor fans!When it`s 7:30 p.m,the whole crap starts!These are the same old serials,which have nothing new in them!Three years,almost passed,still the serial going-on.One problem ends,and another starts!The ladies are the heroes here,and the men are their ''chamchas''!The villian lady plans,the ''sati-savatri'',lady cries,and in the end wins!Although,the ladies have full make-up on them and are wearing the best jewelleries,they say that they are very sad in life!In these serials,even if they are in the hospital,or have an accident,still they have their make-up ON,and look as fresh as ever!Even,while sleeping,they have full make-up on their faces!Full lipstick,and eye-liners!When,women are pregnant,their kids die in their wombs,and then lots of glycerine is used!When the serial starts,with a song,they show us a happy family(in the song),but when the serial starts,we get to see no smiling faces but crying faces!Take the starting song of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu This,as an example,where Tulsi,introduces a camera in her house,and then everyone is happy!Some kids are playing,ladies are performing classical dances,etc.!The people talk about crores,but then fight for money!Men keep on crying,and I don`t understand,being so emotional how can they be so business minded?They also give us a big surprise in these serials!First,a lady is shown as a comedian or a sweet girl BUT A TWIST,the girl turns out to be the villain!When a secret talk is going on,the doors are opened,and the villain lady,hears everything!The actors,themselves are so much tired,of these stupid,unending,serials,that they leave these serials,and some other performer,plays their roles!So,this review is dedicated to the brilliant(?),serials we get to see!

(These serials are from the channel Star Plus,because I know more of Star Plus serials.Still,they are the worst,in my opinion)

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS............................................NOW!!!

5.BHABHI:This is a suspense,thriller,horror drama!Who is Pushpa?Who is Manju?SUSPENSE...lots of SUSPENSE!So,can a Hollywood thriller film can be better than this?No!This serial has everything,with these three things mentioned,above,there are (stupid)emotions,a family and all that!There is this lady,Manjuwho looks,as if she has gotten out of Zee Horror show and has landed over here.You know,her dialogue?It is like this:''Na koi zindagi jeet hai na koi marta hai,sirf apna karz chukaata hai'',and then in a junooni,behaviour,she turns her neck!How funny!So,with all thse ingredients,present there,you can all well-imagine,how pathetic,this serial must be!

3.KAAHIN KISSII ROZ:This is a science-fiction drama!(Hey can you believe it,that this one is in my worst five list,whom I rated five stars!It used to be nice at that time,but now completely hopeless!READ ON!)This one is a scince-fiction thriller because,changing face through plastic surgery is no big deal!You can completely change a person`s look,with a plastic surgery,and with it you cannot only change face,but also the voice!Oh,yeah,also you can grow someone`s hair with a plastic surgery!First Sunaina,got Mansi`s face and now Shalini got Sunaina`s face!GOT CONFUSED?Me too!This is also,a horror drama!Here,a person,keeps on roaming on streets,wearing a coat,which hides his face!A re-make of SCREAM!The lady Ramola Sikand,is also another horrifying personality!She has got a bindiya,on which the sign of DANGER has been made!One more reason to be scared!The characters over here are also so stupid!Like Shaina had pistol in her hand,and Nisha was dead,and if she wasn`t the killer,why she didn`t just throw the pistol,and kept on staring?Why wouldn`t anyone believe,that she was the murderer?

2.AWARD PROUDLY SHARED BY TWO SUPER-HIT SERIALS,KAHAANI GHAR GHAR KII AND KYUNKI SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI:

(a.)KGGK:This serial used to be nice,once,and I rated it 5 stars,first but now,it is shameful!You know,that a wife killed her own husband,here.Now,these are extremes!Then,the lady who kills her husband,sends her brother-in-law,in jail!Also,blind girls are raped in this family!Women,say they are pregnant before marriage,and so the man is forced to marry the lady!Is this ''Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii''?The most exciting and masala-bhara scene for the audience is where pallavi and Parvati appear infront of each other and Parvati says:''Pehle toh log apne bachchon ka naam Rawand nahin rakhte the na ab woh apne bachon ka naam Pallavi bhi nahin rakhein ge'',so Pallavi replies:''Magar Rawand ko toh aaj bhi yaad kiya jaat hai na''!Hilarious!Then,Parvati cries,and produces a glycerine factory!

(b.)KSBKBT:This is the best show,in India,but how?From,no angle at all!Gautam weds,three ladies,and then a lady Payal,who looks like a cat,appears infront of Tulsi,and pulls her leg!Her character is so artificial!She is all the time planning!Hey,who has got so much time,to destroy a family and make plans?Also,Payal`s hair have got powder on it!It`s so fake!Others,are also dumb!Tulsi,is always upset and nervous,where as Mihir,marries another lady,without any sound reason!People keep on dying here!I ask why a young girl Teesha died,and Ba never dies?

1.Des Main Niklla Hoga Chand:This is the WORST SERIAL,ever.This is full of weird characters,where there is a lady called Anu,who marries a boy,because she`s in love with his sister`s husband!Then,she paralyses her father-in-law,and gets him on wheelchair!A doctor changes the face of Dev,in order to get Pammi,and then tries to rape her one night.There is one more character,called Akash,who comes to Anu and says:'Parjayi Ji'.Then Anu`s eyes start bulging out of her sockets

Five worst serials of the year??? Only five...Is it a joke or what...how can I choose only five worst serials out of the hundreds and hundreds of sick serials...I am confused...what to choose and what not...? But anyway, since I am here to choose 5 worst serials of the year...I will do so.

Let me make clear first that I am here just to give my personal opinion and not to hurt someone's feelings. If I do so, I am extremely sorry in advance...

So, here goes my chain of Yuckieeeeeeeeeee serials...:-&

Kasautii Zindagi Kay(STAR Plus)

Now...it is not at all surprising that KZK tops my list of sickening serials with all that unrealistic plot, poor cast and loose direction.

The story revolves around a guy and girl, who falls in love(god knows how?)who marry after a long(loooonggggg 3 years...)period of trials and tribulations and the girl's ex-husband is plotting against her and her husband and blah...blah..blah

The charcterization is the weakest point of this series. Ill-minded people who are very insecure about their loves...suspecting thier husbands and wives. Illegal children...plotting wildly everyday. Shown business tycoons but living like they have no money...talking about trillions of money but sharing the same mobile and cars...

This is certainly the worst serial I have ever seen!

Kehta Hai Dil(STAR Plus)

Gosh!...Absolutely rubbish...it isn't made for humans I guess...It is on air since a year but I still have not understood that what they actually want to show?????

The same, a girl and guy. Both fall in love but due to some problems the girl has to marry another boy. After marriage, the girl forgets her love and starts romancing with her husband and here the boy is pretending to be in love with a girl related to her lady love...

Aaaaarrghhhhhhhh!!!!!...Limits to stupidity. The cast is miserable...literally miserable. Not a single one knows even A of acting...and story, does it have one????...I actually am not in a porition to say something about the story because...I still am guessing that what is this story all about????...

But...I will recommend it as a comedy show ;)

Heena(Sony)

...We have changed our house in the year span on 5 years but Heena's still isn't out of the problems. Heena loved many guys...married many but still...no end of her problems!!!

Story is about a muslim girl who get married to a guy but the guy doesn't loves her...she is interested in someone other. He divorces her...remarries her but again divorces her. Heena falls in love with the guy's friend...the both marry but the the guy's(first one)sweetheart marries Heena's current husband.....and....the story goes on and is still going on I-)

After reading the synopsis...do you need more comments on this series?...The cast, director, scriptwriter...sets...everything is Ughhhhh!!!!!...The series is on air since 5 years....and I still am waiting it to go off the air.....

Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand(STAR Plus)

Will I have to write more on this?????...I have already wrote a biiiiigggg review on this series.....is it soooo important????....Pammi's problems are still getting strong and killing, dying, loving, plotting etc. is yet to be stopped....

...Guy and girl has to be in the story so, they both fall in love, marry but the guy pretends to die as the girl(the other one)has told him that he has a brain tumour. But when he knows that he isn't sick...is coming back but meets with an accident. Pammi's fiance` changes his face...and I can't write more....

The cast, performance and everything is just toooooooooooooooooooo bad!!!!...And it's just disgusting......

Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii

It had to be in the list...inseparable!!!!...This is a series which has nothing to do with morals, humanity and reality...

A family drama...centrally based on Parvati, the eldest's son's wife. Murder, spying, hundreds of illegal relations and children, extra marital affairs, fights and Parvati, sometimes a sweet adorable(my foot!)wife and sometimes a cunning spy....is very comman in this serial. Parvati's fight for truth is this serial all about...

Certainly, it has nothing to do with morals as you see...the cast performance is pathetic and so is their set...God saves anyone from this serial!!!...The title track sucks...and so does the story and direction...!!!!!!

I would love to include many, many more serials in this list but...

Now, as you see it...these serials offer nothing but irritation...a Must not see for everyone!

Hey guys know one thing? I can make like thousand serials like Ekta Kapoor. WHAT DID U SAY? I can't? Well read on....

Step no.1# Get an actress who can cry throughout the serial, make her the pativrataa naari, is supposed to be 'ideal'! puhleez!!!

Step no.2# Get an actress who'll do all the 'chugali' and almost anything n everything to outwit and outsmart the one mentioned in step no.1.

Step no.3# Kill the hubby of the pativrataa and then make him comeback after he impregantes 'other' woman when he was supposedly 'dead'

Step no.4# Stuck here??? Introduce a new 'woman' who will jalaao the ghar of pativrataa naari.....old wine in a new bottle.

Step no.5# All the characters in all the serials must be found in every other serial you make. All the locations are to be same and all the sequences should be shot with the all the actors.....to confuse all your viewers!!!

Step no.6# If nothing works, go to step no 1 and repeat all the steps to launch a new serial on some new channel....

Whoa........am I coming down too heavily on Ektaa. Atleast she has found a way to express her frustration she might have had in her life. What abt us fellas? U are glued to the TV and watch all this crap in all these serials....The wires are loose in our heads!!!

OK OK don't yelll....here's my list of the WORST five serials of ALL TIMES:

1)Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi: Mother of all the worst serials....makes u feel like slamming u're head or throw away u're TV.....Kyun...kyun yeah serial banaya??

2)Kahani ghar ghar ki: What ghar? Who's ghar? I have not seen any ghar so far like this? So many murders, so many lies, so much of impossible crap...have u heard?

3)Kusum: She marries and divorces and falls in love and marries.....hey don't u guyz ever think I watch all this...just got to know from others

4)Kutumb:I cannot force any more abuse on 'POOR' Ektaa....She should really consult a doc. for mental health...

5)All the Ekta Kapoor serials starting with K: I'll make a serial...Kyunki Ektaa hamesha se pagal thi...Kyun Ektaa main hi kyun?.....Bla bla bla bla

Since the days Doordarshan launched its first wellknown TV serial Hum Log, serials have been staple diet for average masses in India.

I do not intend to list any serials by name, only because it is a tough task picking (only)five worst serials on TV.

To begin with, let me make it clear that I am not a regulat watcher of serials. But still what I noticed as the trends, are listed here.

Religious serials

Since the success of Ramayana, religious serials have come in large numbers. Especially since the sucess of Mahabharat, they keep competing is special effects. The emphasis on contents is going down. While Ramayana and Mahabharat made decent attempts in presenting all acceptable versions, later serials have only tried to cash on the sentiments of the people and have considered this as SAFE category for investments.

History Based Serials

In spite of the success of serials like Bharat-Ek Khoj, Sword of Tipu Sultan this category has not seen much production.

Reality Serials

I include Police type serials in this category. Tahkikat, Byomkesh Bakshi, CID come to mind as better ones in this category. However, flood of family dramas has washed away any additions in this.

Serials based on Short Stories

These kind serials have an advantage. You don't need to see them regualrly. (With kind of pace of today's serials, you can watch once a month and still be on track!) With wealth of short stories in Hindi and regional languages, this category should have seen a large numbers. But only Rishtey come to my mind.

Family Dramas

This certainly has seen maximum entries. With TRP becoming hot currency, Ekta Kapoor has breathed new life in these types of serials. Strong characterisation, good plots have beed often spoiled by some tendencies here. Firstly, depending onthe ''extensions'' producer gets, the story just keeps dragging on and on (Kkusum, Heena, Tara and so on). Secondly, these serials depict only certain sections of the society. And even when a middle class character is shown he lives in a biiiig house, wears clothes all can be envy of, eats in top star restaurents.

I think none of the producers have ever seen (forget about living) poor or middle class families.

Why I felt urge to write this is contrasting situation in regional channels. (I mostly watch Marathi channels) The most successful (It is rare that part II of the serial also is success!) serial on Alpha Marathi, Aabhalmaya is entirely based on suffering of a middle class family. Evry scene is so real that I feel it may happen to me. Daughter taking blessings of elders before examination, Husband and wife arguing and again coming together, Respect given to elders, Love and affection going beyond religion..... Everything is so real and happens in realistic surroundings.

Of course Aabhalmaya is only an example. Many serials based on short stories (regional) have been realistic.

But with private channels driven by advertisements, Advertisements driven by TRPs who has the time to look at the quality?

One fine afternoon, in the midst of her kittie party, an enterprising young woman got a brilliant idea - ''hey all these women do nothing but crib about their MILs, talk about their husbands and discuss the latest recipes and gossip....why not make a TV serial out of it??'' and there you go ...the new generation 'soap' was launched with a bang!!! and then another...and another...and another and another and another...ohhhh God!!!!! somehow the mass channels have forgotten the entire alphabet and just remember a single letter - K!!

There was this one bygone era when TV was a reprieve from the monotony and tension of everyday life. Now, its become a magnified version of, apparently, our own lives. How else can you explain the millions of viewers going 'Oh tulsi, I agree with you...this happened with me also..i know how it feels!!'...or 'no kkusum, you cant do this, my husband also left me, but we are indian women!!' I said magnified cos and I quote my maid '' she is thousand times richer and faces thousand more problems, but at the core, her kind of problems are the same as mine'...HUH???

TV used to be called an idiot box around which you could just relax and not be forced to think - just watch. Now, its this emotional senti world around which is an atmosphere of tension, of tears, of silence anticipation from my mother, my grandmother, my bhabhi and my maid!!!

I detest these mon-thurs nights when I cant watch anything I want to, I detest these mon-thurs afternoons when I cant watch what I want to...come to think of it, the mornings are free..woow! lady..are u listening...Ha!!

I abhor:

1.KKusum: I really dont seem to understand why the female protagonist is supposed to be always the 'dutiful DIL and pure suhaagan' no matter how many problems she faces.Why does she cry and cry in her room and put up this sickeningly brave smile in front of others?right, so this serial is about this woman whose husband loves some other babe, she puts up with this smilingly, hoping and wishing(cmon, she is our indian nari na)..he leaves her...and he then comes back to her...again he leaves her..and again he comes back...then u know what happens??? yup..he leaves her again!!! (currently at this stage) and our dear kkusum is so heartwrenchingly brave...she cries and cries and curses fate in her room but she isnt going to let this destroy her life - ofcourse not, her parents in law, her husband's family will be shamed if she does anything!! wow, how much of a doormat can u get?? and the 'hero' cant even pour his own tea, let alone make decisions bout his life!!

2: Heena: I hate and double hate the soppingly saccharine smile simone sports throughout the serial...and by that I mean since this serial started some 3 years back...she smiles through her tears...cries through her smile!!the story is the same, but in this case, she marries another one(no not cos she wants to live her life but cos her husband divorces her for the babe) and the new guy also divorces her and now the old guy wants her back but...no I wont reveal the story..i am sure u all are dying to go watch it...hoohum!!!

3:Amaanat: yes its finished...phewwww!! imagine the fertile imagination of the scriptwriter who couldnt think which 'problematic situation to put' so he created 7..yes 7 characters ...7 daughters of this old man ...all 7 get married one by one..so you have courtship, problem in courtship, marriage, problem in marriage...for EVERY ONE OF THEM!! and ofcourse if that wasnt enuff, the servant and the 2 buas...awesome!!!

4: Boogie woogie: moving away from the 'dramas', this is another one I cant stand. Cant understand why in the name of heaven would sane sensible parents send their darling child to dress up atrociously, at times vulgarly, put on loads of makeup and dance ..sorry gyrate to some hindi number in front of millions of viewers. Better still...why would someone watch them?? I can understand the kya masti program on star..atleast thats got some sense of decorum..in boogie woogie, u have middle aged housewives, u have barely out of toddlerhood kids - all answering inane questions by inane judges and then dancing, ok we have talent in terms of dancing potential and stuff...but why?? why?? whyyy do you want to see a 7 yr old wearing a halterneck and miniskirt with more makeup than I wear dancing to 'husn hai suhana''...i mean..heights!!!!

5:Kahin na kahin koi na koi kabhi to kabhi or something on these lines. The sets team have it easy..either the ostentatious swing or the garish sofas...what I cant take is an actress of madhuri's stature playing this giggly coy cupid!! I mean there was this episode in which I saw her dressed up as some queen and ordering the guy to leave the room. C'mon madhuri...dont spoil your image...you dont need this!!!

aha...TV...where are the 'ye jo hai zindagi's'...the 'karamchands'...the 'dekh bhai dekh'...

but..the consumer is the king...the viewers decide the content...and the channels bow down to their choices...

the show will go on for us...someday!!!

Not really to condemn the lakhs of Indian house wives who loathe on the television soap operas, but ladies, please get a grip on your sensibilities!

The Balaji Films quite proudly hosts a bunch of teleserials on every possible existing channel. One word of advice to the story writers or the proud owner who credits herself for the concepts.

Any on-going serial reminds you of a Hindi film either of the past or of the recent past. Say for instance the serial where both the sisters are married to the same guy (not at the same time, of course) bears a keen resemblance to Aaina (a film that starred Jackie Shroff, Juhi Chawla and Amrita Singh) which was released not so long ago.

In fact one has seen story and plot resemblances in two serials of the same production house itself. Where Kyunkii Saas Bhi … had one saas fighting with one bahu, Koi Apna Sa had three bahus fighting with their three respective saasu maas. How's that for entertainment?

Why does a teleserial maker assume that the watching audience is only women? And why to top it assume that women who are house wives want their real stories depicted on television and watch it in their spare time?

The Hindi television scene definitely lacks variety and the makers seem to be stuck in a ditch of similar ideas and repetitive plots.

Why just five? Any serial could aptly be awarded the worst serial of the year. Even certain serials which start off with a spark seem to be taken to giddy limits just for it to sustain the time slot.

One needs to realize that it is not the length that is going to make something successful. It is a matter of quality VS quantity.

Another thing that is a real turn-off is the fact that there are same faces in every serial on every channel. For a person who does not keep tab how is he supposed to know one story from the other? Sure one understands that the serials are made in a tight budget frame and need to be shot in a specified time period. Wouldn't it be easier to get newcomers whose talent could be polished and instead could be paid less as well?

One could give countless pointers but the doers have to realize. Until they don't one has to stick to watching only English channels.

TV 2001 Comedies - Hits and Misses

Everyone loves a good comedy, but how many are there really? I have been checking out the new comedies to see which ones I think will be successful and which ones I don’t think have staying power. What do you think?

Comedy Hits:

Undeclared - FOX

The show focuses on 6 college freshman away at school in a co-ed dorm. It is based around the geeky kid in the group, Steven. It’s very funny.

Why I Think it’ll Make it

There is a Tom Green wanna-be in the cast, a British kid and fun girl roomies. It’s light and fun and It follows the already popular That 70’s Show. It has great potential.

Maybe it’s Me - WB

This off-beat comedy is all about the embarrassing moments a 15 year old girl goes through with her family.

Why I Think it’ll Make it

It has the feel of a mix of Sex in the City and Ally McBeal, but for the teenage audiences. It’s not really my type of show, but it is pretty funny. The Ally McBeal feel comes from the imagination of this 15 year old girl. If she gets really mad you see her head explode.

According to Jim

Jim Belushi stars in this sitcom as a husband and a father to 3 young kids. Courtney Thorne-Smith plays his wife.

Why I Think it’ll Make it

I think this show will make it strictly because of the cast. Belushi is one of the funniest actors around. Plus, he can act!

Comedy Misses

Inside Schwartz - NBC

A single man is trying to find love. His progress is monitored by real sportscasters.

Why I Think it’ll Miss

It’s just not funny! Sportscasters explaining his love life? Please! Plus it has that doomed time-slot after Friends. For some reason sitcoms do not make it in that time period.

REBA - WB

A divorced woman (Reba MacEntire), who’s husband left her for another woman, is dealing with her teenage daughter’s pregnancy. Her ex-husband’s new woman is also pregnant.

Why I Think it’ll Miss

It does seem to have potential, but Reba is not the greatest actress. I feel it will suffer the same fate as Bette Midler’s show, BETTE.

The Bernie Mac Show - FOX

Bernie Mac plays Bernie, enough said.

Why I Think it’ll Miss

This show doesn’t have any real substance. No concrete story to tell and FOX is known for having great sitcoms, so I don’t think they’ll keep it around long.

Well, do you agree with my choices? The first show of the season to be cancelled already is CBS’s Danny. There is also word out that Ellen, also a CBS show, is suffering with bad ratings. We will see who makes it soon enough, but I wish them all good luck!
