Well I would say very objectively that Dino Morea is a very limited person when it comes to acting. And why can u blame the guy for mediocrisy in Hindi Cinema when Hindi wasn't even his first language for the first 11 years of his life. Yes, people, Dino only came to India at age 11 as a half-Italian who didn't know the basics about Hindi. Bollywood was no option for him.
Thus, it was no surprise that having his father's good Italian looks, the guy joined the modeling circuit. He might say that he was initially chubby, but today you look at him and u'll see that he has a fab body. I mean u r reading a guy review another guy, but still I must say that anyways Dino has a fab body that compares with all his contemporaries like John Abraham and Arjun Rampal. All three of these guys joined Bollywood and it's safe to say that Dino is the least known of all three. Why?
Well his debut vehicle Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi went unnoticed at the BO. The guy subsequently disappeared for 3 years. He had to come back in 2002 in Raaz to give a hit. And wow what a big hit it was. But still Bipasha was actually more of a key in that movie and Dino didn't have a role to create histrionics. Still, look at how he worked on his Hindi and voice toning. I knew he had at least become a decent prospect in Bollywood who would try and not at least make a joke of himself. At least he had the look of the actors, so what if he didn't get noticed like Rampal and Abraham in his debut movie.
I think all the three guys have very limited roles. But u'll see that Dino, like Arjun, has maintained a low profile set up and has stuck to his limitancy by giving us all decent performances, regardless of the fact that his films post Raaz have almost all been disasters at the BO. But he sure is coming up after Plan and Sssshhh!!! where he was noticed for the most part! He got great comparisons with John for being the ex-bf of Bipasha. John's larger than life image actually sunk Dino's popularity as people thought of him as a loser in the battle. However, Dino said he never wanted to compete with anyone. And as discussed above he always wanted to be in his own low profile set up.
And...there is nothing bad with that. Even though you don't see many people appreciate the guy, you don't see many trash him, or even write about him. That however isn't a good sign (that no one even bothers to write about you). Yet I stand by Dino for his pros: Hardwork, Sincerity, Good looks, and also good dancing! So those pros might take him higher than he is now. But surely long term populairty remains highly questionable! Anyways, overall a 3 star adequate guy!
