More than 60,000 people died in india since 1988, thanks to acts of terrorism.. and the superpowers always thoughts they were freedom fighters who were revolting!!!!!! ...
A bomb kills 7 american soldiers somewhere ( where they are warring), and it is named as another Terrorist attack....
A blast in kashmir kills 15 people, 30 people (of doda village, J & K)going to marriage are beheaded and it never makes it to the international news!!
After the london tube blasts (38 deaths), all the big newspapers made a very nice graphic presentation, showing where the terrorists have struck in the last 2 decades. ..(Especially The times edition, London) ..
not one of the them had mentioned a single attack in India!!!
I am not saying that the world deserves what it gets because it behaves in the typical way of :
meraa khuun khuun, aur tera khuun paani .. meaning -
my blood(shed) is blood(bloodshed-a major loss,) and your blood(shed) is water ( nothing)....
Lets be fair,,
A life is a life, anywhere and everywhere..... A human life is a human life after all, isnt it? just because it is an indian, doesnt make it a negligible fact, does it??
India has been telling the world about terror and its source, but the world failed to realize...
And now it answered with a retaliation.... The Wise President Bush, could not get Osama, so he settled for Saddam!!!Iraqi invasion has led to loss of more innoncent lives on both sides rather than terrorists... It will no doubt create more enemies for US in future... (lucky for the world that we had iraq and saddam....otherwise I guess Bush would have blamed Cuba, castro and Russia for everything!!!)
Punishing Saddam for osama, was like punishing the weak but known to be open and courageous person, for the one whom all the Spies of world could not catch..
its like punishing the backbencher repeater of the class, who may be bad... for the evil devil who is not caught...... But punishing 1 for another, is not justice... and it is the mother of future terrorism.. ie killing of innocent lives...
which brings us to the central question...
can there be peace in a world of sudden terror???
[sorry. for being so so so very late in answering, I wasnt there on the MS in 2002!!,, nevertheless... the question is still relevant in 2005 after the july bombings in the place where I am now...london...]
Can there be peace in a world of terror??
Yes.
Definately... but not with retaliation,, retaliation will create more terrorists.
You dont have to bite back at a dog who has bitten you. You may catch him, kill him.. but dont be a dog..... dont kill innocent people on the pretext of terrorists...
I think the question is wrong, terror is not Sudden..
Alqaeda does not have on its passport the year of birth as 2001!!! It was in existence much before that, it is the world's fault if it turned blind eyes to countries like india...
And the fact that the origin of all terrorist groups lies in the afghan pakistani border is more than sufficient to know that US knew of its existence even before terrorism started in India in late 1980s....
I think US made two major blunders.. electing Mr.Bush was second of them.. invading iraq was the first...
The answer to terrorism lies in India's policy... India knows the source, but it never has invaded any country in its history, and wont... It stays strong, alert, and resilient..., very resilient in fact,,,,,
the terrorists keep attacking at every chance they get, but it does not budge, neither does it let it disrupt its own inner harmony....
It doesnot invade a weaker nation, on whom it can venge all its anger,, does it?? naaa...
India has made many mistakes though, and partly its half-asleep citizens are responsible for it..( they are asleep to everything from corruption to evil to being unpatriotic)
The best retaliation to terrorism is by love...
Love only can cure hatredness, love only can promote peace...
Love is the magical answer....
I am not saying, that US should start giving visas to everyone especially al-qaeda members,,, nanana.., and that all soldiers should retire!!!,,na na na.. no way
be alert, be strong, be resilient, be powerful,
but dont be a terrorist to kill another...
The root of terrorism lies in fanaticism, brain-washing, illiteracy and maybe poverty...
Eradicate this(takes 2 words only, but will take centuries)
and you will live in a peaceful world...
The world doesnot need the stronger nations bullying of weaker nations, and a big drama known as restoration of democracy (read hypocrisy) later on...
no..It doesnt need barriers too.
I believe that ultimately there will peace, when every human life will be valued.. at what cost I dont know...
but we will have to answer for all the mistakes we make...
for every human innoncent life that we take...
from history lets learn love, forgiveness and non-violence
let us be strong and powerful, yet non-exploiting
let us be alert and protected, yet non-invading
let us follow Gandhian philosophy of non-violence,
but be fully prepared to defend ourself when the others dont understand....
somewhere in the philosophies of Gandhi, buddhism, jainism, hinduism, christianity, islam and all other religion.. lies the key that will lead to a positive answer to the above question,,,
but first lets accept........
merry xmas
