Supplements Healthy when Used and Not Abused
Jan 05, 2017 10:45 AM 1732 Views

Dear Readers.

Being a sports enthusiast and a fitness lover(not a freak for gym!), I was hitting gym to gain strength and gain some muscle weight. I tried improving my diet, which I eventually was able to and almost increased to about 2 to 3 times than usual both in terms of quantity and protein intake in the form of eggs, chicken and mutton. Though initially no matter how much I tried to maintain that diet, I failed to do so because it is simple not possible to jump to diet which is 3 times your body's need. Though I ate, I never found that strength nor interest in gym to work out. And seeing people lift tons of weight against mine teeny and tiny weights was very depressing. And worst of all, every individual in gym is a self proclaimed trainer and an expert! huh! However, I came across a group of 3-4 individuals, who used to workout in gym with utmost sincerity and without time pass or discussing non-sense. I was unable to do my bicep curls with a 5kg dumble and one of them working out just beside me motivated me and in fact corrected my technique and encouraged me that over a time you would come out great, and to just hold on which I did. I asked him about supplements as I heard that they had tremendous side-effect leading to kidney failures, bleeding and so on. He educated me about it, and recommended only british nutrition and that too Whey Isolate ONLY. Because that is he highest quality of protein and in right quantities can even be given to young children and women as well. I started off to take this brand. Taste wise, it sucks big time. In fact, I heard all the supplements do. I ordered it online and later grew suspicious since I got at a throw away price. I got in touch with the British Nutrition customer service who had advised me to send the pictures of the box, asked few questions like if the box was open when delivered and so on. They confirmed me that I had got the original product and in case, I see any adverse effects or fail to see any bit of improvement, I was asked to preserve the sample along with the bill and send them. Luckily, by using it I found that my body starting to responded to the exercise I did. Very greatly satisfied by BRITISH NUTRITION and their products. Whey Isolate without creatine is the SAFEST one. I started feeling the difference after using it for 2 weeks-6 days a week. Please do not expect any magic, it does take time. In fact, if you see that any product s giving you instant results and unusual and unnatural growth, better stop that as it may contain steroids and heavy creatine. I was pretty happy with the product. Gained good weight to look decent and healthy and that promoted and encouraged me to hit gym regularly even after I stopped using after a month. A single scoop of Whey Isolate will give you about 80% of whey protein, say 30gms of Scoop will give you approx 21-24 grams of protein.

BRITISH NUTRITION though Indian company, does maintain a high quality and at a very competitive prices. All the other brands in the market are way higher than BN- about 30-40% higher rates.

Since I come from a family of doctors, here are some tips, warnings and cautions.

Tips: Start whey protein with half a scoop(I PREFER IN WATER SINCE MILK IS KNOWN TO BE A CONSTIPATING FRIEND and difficult to digest)only for about a week, then gradually 3/4 scoop, then after 2 weeks, you can go for a complete serving. It is by nature that our body would discard unnecessary and unwanted stuff from the body and resists changes in body. Hence allow your body to adjust and convey it to brain that your muscles need protein to build since its been put under heavy activities.

Many people complain of pimples, bloated stomach, bleeding in stool, heavy burps and so on. All of which will definitely happen since your body releases digestive enzymes at regular intervals which is based on your eating habits. Now suddenly if you give it a boast of 25 grams of protein to digest it would obviously react in that way. How to over come this? As said above, start off with smaller quantities. This way you are allowing your body to adjust. Changes in diet. Include butter milk, curd and pro-biotics like yakut available in the market to neutralize this. It helps you overcome the heaviness of protein plus improves digestion and immunity. You would not have any digestive issues. Also, even better is to make a routine of adding extra curd to your diet before you start your protein supplement.

WARNINGS: Over usage of Protein is unhealthy. Protein digestion takes a toll on your kidneys as well. Because every protein is converted to creatine which is a fuel for your muscles. Extra creatine in your body means kidneys work extra to remove excess creatine from your body. Hence always advisable to take just one scoop no matter what your body weight is and what you aim for. Things do not happen overnight and supplements should be taken as'supplements'only and as a push to start going. Maximum 3 months of usage and leave it the same way it was started, reducing the dose gradually.

Taking Extra Additives with Protein Shakes: A TOTAL NO TO CREATINE powders or even creatine in whey which some of the other brands sell. It overwhelms your kidneys. It is a HUGE NO, if you want to live long without being in Hospital bed. Also please remember that there is no cure or treatment for kidney ailments and life is cut short to a maximum of 5 years once that happens. Do not see others in the gym to look like one using these products. Some are genetically build like that, what you can do is work hard and be regular. Look to attain fitness and health and not just to impress people with your arms and biceps. Also, I am not saying that stars do not use, but they use under the supervision of experts and doctors. They get their blood check every day to see any adverse affects. If you can too do this, they go ahead I would say rather you would not even need this article, your experts would help you out.

Hope this helps.

British Nutritions Power Protein
Mar 09, 2016 03:22 PM 2141 Views

I started working out a few days ago, and after reading plethora of articles, eventually decided to start on supplementary protein, to supplement and help with my time at the gym. and I mean'supplementary', which means my normal diet continued as usual.

I had made up my mind about protein and was all set. But the plethora of products available in the market left me baffled. Yes, I would consume protein. But which one? Which one would be best for gains?

I was complete clueless at first. I had read about the different types of proteins, and the different effects they had and couldn't decide which one would be best for me. I wanted a product that would be able to provide the benefits of various different kinds of proteins without having to purchase multiple jars and having to mix them.

I eventually came to know about British Nutritions Power Protein. This was the perfect product for me. It has a fusion blend of protein.

Whey Protein: "Fast Acting Protein"; readily absorbed into the body. Great for post-workouts.

Soy Protein Isolate: "Intermediate Acting Protein"; absorbed slower than the whey protein.

Casein: "Slow Acting Protein" which requires several hours to be digested.

In this way, I could obtain the benefit of all types of proteins and also make sure my body had a constant supply of proteins throughout the day.

Albeit the product seemed great, I was a bit skeptical at first. I had read that many such supplements are just gimmicks and would leave just you with an empty pocket. Regardless, I decided to try out the protein. I ordered the 1 kg Chocolate Flavored jar.

Contrary to my expectations, my first protein shake tasted great! And was damn easy to make too. 40 g of protein powder in 240 ml water, a few shakes and done! And within a week, I could feel a radical difference after my workouts. my gains seemed to be more pronounced! And I also got a free t-shirt with the jar.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the product to any gym enthusiast out there who is looking for some good protein at a reasonable price. It is indeed a great product. and quite inexpensive compared to the other products.

Before you buy the protein, you should ask yourself if you really need it. It's a supplement. and I would recommend you to have it, provided you aren't getting enough protein from your daily diet already.

When should you have the shake?

Well, I have one post-workout as that is the time my body needs protein to sustain itself from the punishment I have subjected it to at the gym. And also one just before you sleep, to sustain muscle repair and development.

If you have decided to try out the product, don't forget to get a good shaker to compliment the protein.

Ingredients: Proprietary Fusion Blend of Power Proteins(Ion exchanged whey protein isolate, Purified Whey protein concentrate, Sweet whey, Micellar Casein, Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Peptides, Soy protein isolate) skimmed milk powder, Oleic sunflower oil powder, Inulin, Sucralose, minerals, natural & identical flavors.
