I have been a HUGE fan of Tori Amos for years now, and I have to say that Boys For Pele is one of my favorite CD's of hers. This was her third CD(after Y Kan't Tori Read)and was made in 1996. The two before this were Little Earthquakes and Under The Pink.
The cover art is interesting, with a picture of Tori holding a rifle in a hick type house. The rest of the little lyric book is amazing. The pictures of Tori are beautiful.
Okay now on to the music. This album has some really spunky loud songs and soft whispery ones as well. She uses the piano and other instruments so well that it amazes me.
Her lyrics are deep and interesting, most of the people I know that heard Tori Amos music said they didn't understand it.
The first song of the CD is Beauty Queen/Horses. It's very soft. The next song, Blood Roses has the harpsichord and really cool beats. It is not really loud but has a good ending where she picks it up a little bit.
The next song, Father Lucifer, which is one of my favorite songs by her, has the infamous piano and has beautiful lyrics such as''Father Lucifer, you never looked so sane, you always did prefer the drizzle to the rain..'' Again, the end has a nice pick up..I call it the bridge. There are nice back up vocals and horns.
The next song, Professional Widow is loud and hard lyriced but a very fun song.
The next song,Mr.Zebra is a cute little song full of horns and piano. It has a very childlike quality.
The next song, Marianne, is about a girl that Tori knew that killed herself. This song is definitely one of my favorites. There is piano, strings and more. Tori sings with strength and her voice is so strong that the song makes me cry sometimes.
Caught A Lite Sneeze has really cool beats and interesting https://lyrics. It is very catchy.
I'll skip a few to go on to Hey Jupiter, which is soft and great https://lyrics.
But my favorite song on the album is Not the Red Baron. It is very soft and the lyrics ARE AMAZING!! It makes me feel calm for some reason.
In The Springtime of His Voodoo and Putting The Damage on are great too.
Overall, this is an excellent CD and I urge you to go listen to it! You won't regret it.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
