Are we ignoring grunge/punk....?

Prodigy is awesome couldnt add what I wanted to in some other reviews thought of doing it here cos I read a review "soundgarden. Aberdeen, Seattle the 90's scene or rather the teenage phase of grunge and punk did it die when it was 18?"Soundgarden , Candlebox, Alice in chains, Blind melon, Nirvana,Temple of the Dog, Pearl jam, Silver Chair, Smashing Pumpkins well not all of them can be put under one genre however the sound was raw ,soothing and had melody was very pure unlike todays music which is so much digital and full of digital electra support. Its a slave of technology which changes the originalityThe distortion sound on which Chris would tear his throat taking the pitch upto 8th note (3 throat surgeries) will not be seen in an Audioslave sorted out sound.Smashing Pumpkin's Billy Corgan , will he ever get a James(guitarist) like sound in Zwan.Imagine Hunger Strike ----- Eddie and Chris what could be a bigger treat than listening to their coordination and parrallel efforts. With all the DJ scrathing and electrica effect on music the entire genre is nothing but so commercial in sound and can be played at any local disc(very danacable tunes --- if there is a word like this). The processors have taken over the Pedals(distortion single sound). Linking Park,Slipknot,Incubus and likes of them I wonder how they would sound after their DJ's are killed .Well all of them are talented and will sound good without the chikki chikki zip zuuu zuuu yyooo yoo sound.Machinehead and System of a down would have the same effect as Slipknot with a DJ.let the DJ's scrath whatever they want to in Daa Club while the guitarist should trust their strumming. Some bands don't even sound half of what they sound on their CD's while performing LIVE. Their own music sounds like a cover song. Peace Love Empathy and Authentic muisc

After 7 Years, Finally
Sep 17, 2004 01:14 PM 1714 Views

It's been 7 years since Fat Of The Land. 7 years since those addictive beats of Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up started a punk-trance following. And thankfully, AONO turns out to be worth the wait. Starting off with what could be the next Firestarter, Spitfire, the album is a welcome break from all the generic hip-hop/ R&B going around.

Though the strains of Prodigy's shift to the more commercial disco-trance scene from their original punk-trance USP seem obvious, the CD still is very Prodigy-esque.

The beats are still loud as ever, the vocals still as hauntingly in-your-face. The album is clearly influenced by a more eastern-European sound and coupled with great production values, makes for great listening.

Particularly mention-worthy are Medusa's Path, Phoenix (which features samples from Love Buzz), and Shoot Down (featuring Liam Gallagher on vocals, and Noel on bass). Recommended for anyone with an affinity for trance. A great record from the Grandaddies of Brit-punk.
