Indian railways will become a formidable industry that has got a history of one hundred years.Rails not the flat road is the placed the moving train on rails, the rail never ends, it makes branches as it reaches stations and again the branched rails come back to make the moving train on the same track that is the destination destined and this feel of sure shot makes one to think and believe that there is no other suitable transport system that can match INDIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM. What is meant by Reservation.
Reservation was not at all known feel for most of Indians till two decades, idea of travel was not much in india and it was always possible to get a seat, berth or first class what ever was the choice of the persons concerned and no one ever complained on not getting a berth , seat, or first class, in fact Indians always were so simple minded, they did not mind not able to get the first class, or sleeper, then they would wait travelling in the general compartment, move to third class sleeper and if there was a chance to get first class for that also it was always possible to get desired berth class. WHY SO CERTAIN ON GETTING.
Yes trains moved very slow, most were passenger trains, or mail or express, what ever it was, one could be certian of contacting the TT if there was any vacancy, and TT would become close and friend to one because in each station that was important trains would stop from ten minutes to half an hour.
Train would wait for in coming train , as there was not many tracks to allow this train to move, single track all over the country was the main reason one had enough time to move his luggage, wife, children and so much time was there to place his heavy luggage, TT would signal the driver to wait, since this VIP who has changed the track from general compartment to sleeper or first class or what ever be, the sure reason made, reservation not yet when one started from home. WHY SO SLOW MOTION FILM HERE.
Yes I have experienced this factor how it was decades back, one would not panic, train would stop if they found you are still on the platform, of course your face revealed you are an important person elite and station masters always obliged to stop the train by whistle blow and ever adjusting drivers was the most safe feel for a person who never missed the train he was travelling. CHANGED TIMES.
Now so much improvement has taken place by not one time but thousand times, each station has facilities to cater to the need of all type of passengers, book stalls to canteens to cart shops that sells the required items like chips, chocolates and biscuits that Indians love to buy any time. Today the engaged persons who want to travel has grown up so much, the train capacity is not enough and system of reservation alone can make a person to reach his destination, whether it is short distance or long distance, either way the rush of travelers is simply staggering. if you have good cash, there is possible chance to get what ever level you want, now we have AC first class, AC two tier, AC three tier, AC chair car, First class, second class three tier , the trains are very long, number of passengers in each train is running to full capacity and so much rush is there not one train between two stations, even small towns have more than three trains a day and of course one minimum train in the night time, this shows trust on rail travel is simply becoming matter of fact. The demand is ever increasing day by day, i feel it should reach ten times of the present, there is need of train every hour for at least from 6 am to 12 am , 36 trains from each place of starting can still cater to full capacity.
North Indians travel a lot. I appreciate the north Indians they work or stay in business but the link they have for their birth place is very deep and home sick type, they love to travel to their birth place at least once a month, this shows how much they trust railways, it is impossible to travel by bus to a place which is more than 300 km. In fact no matter how much a bus can cater seat comfort, nothing to beat train travel. SOUND LESS.
Today the bogeys are so efficient they don't rattle, crackle the way it used, it used to shake all the time before and so shaky it used to, suit cases would fall on ground, some who slept at ease had to feel the falling feel, all these is solved, now one can feel just like he is on a plane. yes on such trains where AC first class and other air conditioned classes, the seats are very comfortable and journey is so soundless, one get instant sleep and since there is no disturbance one feel the joy of viewing the surface for our eyes. No other system can compete with Indian railways.

Taxi, no, auto no, plane no, but Indian railways is ever at service of the traveler, what ever happens, you can get into at least a general compartment, this cannot happen in bus travel, if you have no seat in a bus, have to cancel the journey, you may have any type of ticket still travel is possible in railways.
