The moment you came across the word Maestro most of you might have guessed it. For others who are still guessing ..let me give u a brief introduction about him.During his initial year he struggled a lot till opportunity came to his rescue in the form of ''Annakili'' tamil film - year 1976 (In telugu its Rama chilaka). From then on there is no looking back.
Till date he has composed for more than 750 films in various languages. At his peak he used to compose for 1 move per week!!!
The man whom am talking about is none other than the great ''ILAYARAJA''
He made wonderful compositions for film directors like Maniratnam starting with Idaya kovil, Mounaragam,Nayakan,Agni nakshatram,Geetanjali,Anjali,Dalapathi. After than I dont know what made mani sir to choose to AR Rehman over him.
If you observe AR Rehman songs are hummed only for a certain period that too when the movie is running in the theatres. Where as Ilayaraja's music is evergreen.
Apart from Maniratnam raja sir has composed for most of the top directors like K.Balachander(Punnagai Mannan, Sindhu Bhairavi.Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal,Pudhu Kavithai....),Barathiraja (Alaigal Oyvathillai,Kadal Oviyam,Mudhal Mariyadai) ,K.Viswanath(Sagara Sangamam,Swati muthayam,Swarna Kamalam..)
and the list goes on......
He is the first asian to compose Symphony (Symphony No. 1) with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) of London.
