SatyamOnline Dial Up Reviews

new delhi india
Customer trapper
Oct 20, 2004 05:04 PM

I wholeheartedly agree with the review. My experience with the sifygold is similar. I got a free 100 hours package from sify through HCL computers when I purchased a new computer. They were billing 17 minutes for a 2 minute 10 second actuall call. The reasoning minimum pulse 5 minutes plus port charge of 12 minutes. What a strategy! This is called ingenuity.

If u use more than 2 minutes u have to pay 17 minutes and even if u just connect -0 seconds-they charge u for 5 seconds. When the account was about to expire the man from Sify (He is nameless, faceless, numberless, id-less) contacted me just like u described. And he promised a lot which I came to know later was plain cheating. He offered a free 100 hours for a package of 100 hours at Rs.999/-, plus a gift of a travelling bag, a CD for installation and 25% more powerful surfing and download(how I don't know).

Even at this stage I did not fall for his false promise. I told him MTNL'S RATE is only Rs.6/- per hour. And u can pay this along with your telephone bill after 3-4 months. No advance payment.

Then he told me my telephone bill will be 40% less because Sify(Satyam.net.in) pulse rate is 5 (day)and 10(night-after 10.30) through a special arrangement with MTNL. (MTNL's pulse rate for internet calls are 3&6 respectively). When I expressed doubt about this HE was very indignant and reminded me SATYAM IS VERY REPUTED COMPANY IN THE IT BUSINESS.

THEY DON'T MISGUIDE PEOPLE BY FALSE PROMISES. I also thought so and agreed for renewal of 100 hours package. It was a Sunday and the next day I checked my account through my office computer and what I found? They cheated me like u mentioned.

They have given me 149 hours and 33 minutes ACCESSS! That means they are giving me 150 hours instead of 200 as promised by THEIR ANONYMOUS REPRESENTATIVE. SO I AM GOING to cancell this registration and not going to use it at all unless they give me 200 hours as promised.

Sify and MyWallet drains your time and wallet
Jul 02, 2004 03:31 PM

This is about Indian Stock market/Mutual Fund information on web sites...

Sify used to have a good service to list Portfolios, track their values etc thru MyWallet.

Lately like all unmaintained web services, Sify and MyWallet stinks. Please dont open an account on MyWallet's product called PortFolio Manager. They have real stale and inaccurate info.

A product called Birla Mip II under various dividend options like 5% equity based growth, 25% etc was launched nearly a month ago.

I pointed out to Sify that this product and few others though are already quoted in the AFMC sites are not valid in Sify/MyWallet. After usual un-attended-to automated response 'that they love my feedback etc ..' I gave up as there was no improvement/this financial product visibility on site.

Now after weeks the product is there; but the MyWallet's Portfolio Manager would not let you list txn of this scrip, saying there is no such product!!?, though their site itself lists these as a part of valid products. Along with rest of Sify I guess the good product MYWallet is becoming sloppy.

I guess people like Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund should sue them; for their MF scheme it appears is deliberately downplayed in Sify syte; more recent launches of MFs from un-heard of company names are visible in MyWallet. Is Sify into shady 'market advise' to help some 'shady' market (MF) moguls?' In this event, surely you should expect your investment to go down the tube anyway, if you followed MyWallet reco.

With due respect to their wordy disclaimers to cover their a...., is there not an ethics of doing business one would expect with such organisations like Sify ie to put in some effort to be impartial, timely and responsive to change? Or is pure ineffecieciency that they donot have a good internal wake up mechanism to the daily changes happening in markets??

Eitherway, stay away from Sify>Finance portal. Their info is so old and unreliable that their reaction time shames a tortoise. You could lose your shirt, if you based your financial decisions on Sify Site content!!! MyWallet is nearly becoming 'their wallet' given the amount of 'connect time' I am spending to reconcile their errors, delays etc etc...

Got wiser, quit from Sify & MyWallet to look elsewhere for more 'current' and accurate info source about market...

A Yahoo! does far greater justice. ICICI is improving.

Sify has lost it's charm
Jun 28, 2004 09:13 PM

I am from Hyderabad and a regular user of Sify dial-up connection for the past 3 years.

For the 1st year, the service was excellent with connection never being lost, and a download speed of almost 4Kbps durin afternoons (higher at nights). But then slowly (I guess due to over flowing of users) the speed started coming down.

Nowadays, it has become so bad that during afternoons, the speed in just a couple of 100 bytes(0.1Kbps) and constantly decreasing. After 20 minutes are over..there is no reply from the websites I connect to. I have to reconnect again, and this again costs 2 bucks.

Night time isn't any better, and the only consolation is that connection remains alive, even though speed is in 10s of bytes. The main problem is more users on the same bandwidth. I would be happy if sify buys more bandwidth.

Also, they have recently withdrawn the scheme of free night surfing and sunday surfing on the Rs. 700 pack(100 hrs). I use sify mainly for the free night surfing. Now I have to seriously rethink abt continuing with sify, as there are many new ISPs coming up, with more reliable and faster connection speeds.

The stymies of a dial-up connection
Jun 03, 2004 08:39 AM

Satyam online is one of the leading ISPs in India, somehow. Thousands of netizens who live in the non-metro cities and towns across India will invariably have to depend on ISPs like these excessively because they are not yet in to the fiber optic network or the so called broadband connectivity.

So they will have to face the harsh realities of getting connected through their telephone and a local ISP like Satyam. So besides all the headaches inherent to dial-up connections, they will have to suffer the ?service? of these ISPs also. To my knowledge, Satyam makes the most untruthful promise of uninterrupted service and customer care.

Satyam can inexplicably holocaust your patience by its regular server failures and hung-up lines. I happened to take a Satyam online internet connection a few weeks ago. Unfortunately for me, Satyam?s local server was going under a server updating at that time. So I wasn?t able to log on to the internet. Even if I?m logged in, the connection didn?t last for more than a few minutes. The customer care executive told me that there might be something wrong with my PC.

I have no other way but to call my PC service center. But it happened to be in perfect condition. Later I was able to know the exact reason of connection failure from my dealer. The updating went on for days and weeks. I couldn?t help anything but bewail on my lost money. And finally 10 days from the date of expiry, I was victorious. By that time I have received more than two calls from Satyam for renewing my account!

There are a few unavoidable things in dial-up connections. The most obvious ones are the slowness of data exchange and poor connectivity. This is because the phone lines are congested most of the time and hence became incapable of transmitting more signals. So data transfer becomes slower, resulting in poor connectivity. Fair enough. But what if you find the server phone number engaged when you are trying to connect. Well if you are with Satyam you stand a better chance of being balked like this. Not all ISPs are bad though. BSNL?s Sanchar Net, for instance surprisingly gives better service than any other ISPs in India.

Many would discount ISPs as less important as it?s the phone line that is causing the slowdown in connectivity. In fact, ISPs can make a lot of difference in improving your internet experience. For instance, I could see a difference of haven and earth between BSNL and Satyam. If that?s true, a dial-up connection is not as bad as most think. Well at least in terms of proper connection.

As for my tale, it had an unpleasant climax. After successfully using it for five days, I was disqualified from logging in one fine day because my account didn?t have any usage time left. The catch was that I was clueless on who has used up my login time whereas I have used barely 3 hours, of my 12 hours pack. But I felt relieved after all that was the end of the villain. Now I could think of something different and better and avoid saying ?Not again!?

Cheaters !!
May 05, 2004 12:23 AM

Yeah they are cheaters....I could not get hold of any other better word to describe these sify people. Their Dial-Up packages are costly and just drain away too fast.

Believe me friends.....my city Bhubaneswar comes under B grade cities...according to Sify. They have a different tarrif plan for B Grade Cities. Bitches...if I use 10 mins from the package they would drain out 20 mins from the package. And those commited 100 Hrs of internet dial up package really ends up fast enough.

They are fast....customer care is stupid ....and I dont know how they got the best ISP award. GOD KNOWS.....I strongly dont reccomend this product and if u have too much of ur dads money to drain then u can go for it !!

Hell it really get a very costly affair.

I strongly don't reccomend this product.

Mumbai India
Incorrect billing
Dec 08, 2003 07:01 AM

Satyam online (dial-up) service cheats customers mentioning their billing pattern in fineprint. e.g. if you use sify for 7 minutes, you are billed for 10 minutes. or if you use for 10 mts.30 secs. you are billed for 15 minutes. Also there's a port utilization charge of Rs.2 per login. When I checked with their customer service, I was told that it is mentioned in the ''terms and conditions''.

Satyam will lose many of its customers if it continues to mislead the public.

If a customer logs in only to check mail quickly and log out everyday, she or he can easily run their bill upto 150% of the original. e.g. suppose the actual usage is 150 minutes, the billed usage can be even 225 minutes. So one loses out if one has multiple logins for short periods of time.

Also what makes it worse is when you have a doubt about the billing and decide to check your account's usage, the table has a few columns of which one has actual usage in minutes and billed usage in seconds (or the other way around). So one can not figure out at one glance about the discrepancy in billing. This makes one feel that the company is doing this on purpose and is not even trying to be honest about it.

Regards,

Hema

Satyam 'Sad'yam
Oct 31, 2003 08:34 PM

I will not mince words in describing my feelings towards the Satyam Internet Dial-Up Services. Satyam claim to be the best ISP in Asia (an acclaim which they won some 2-3 years ago, I believe) but if one was to truly believe that, they would have to worry about the development of internet infrastructure on the continent.

My first experience of Satyam was after a tussle with MTNL Dial-Up and after that anything seemed like heaven. I signed up for the 3 months UnLtd... package which was just Rs. 999/- at the moment -- quite an acceptable price for the services offered. Satyam at that time was actually quite fast and I believe a broader user base and lack of a strong infrastructure have led to deterioration in their services.

I continued to use Satyam UnLtd... 3 month packages (whose prices increased quite steadily, of course) and began noticing a quick deterioration of internet service. At some points it was not even possible to attain a stable connection to the server and this was not a solely a problem on the client side because other ISPs (namely NetKracker and VSNL) worked very well.

Since a year or two I have stopped using Satyam to browse or download because the connection is very unstable and slow. In fact, Satyam charges (or rather cuts off from your account) Rs. 12/- everytime you connect to their server (more than 2 minutes). This means that if you simply connect to check your mail and the server does not respond (another common problem) you will have to have the Rs. 12/- deducted from your account. VSNL has now become the ISP of choice for me as it offers a fast and reliable connection that is available at any time.

If you actually want to try a Satyam Dial-Up package, I ask you to seriously consider many of the factors and ask around for other people's opinions. If you are a serious internet user I even suggest investing in a broadband connection as it will work far more efficiently than Satyam.

That's all for now!

Good – Better than other connections
Oct 30, 2003 10:59 PM

I’ve been using Satyam Online dialup connection for the past 3 years. The connection is stable and you get faster downloads (average 4kbps download speed which is good for a dial up connection or otherwise a 1mb file is downloaded in 10 to 15 minutes).

I have used BSNL, SANCHARNET, DISHNET, HCL and VSNL. Compared to all these Satyam is best. Satyam has its own bandwidth so the connection is stable and the pages load fast. Their customer service is also good infact it is better than other service providers. Your email queries are answered within 24hrs.

The downside of it is the cost of the dialup service. It is little steep compared to other service providers and they charge Rs.2/- for every login you make that is every time you click the connect button you are charged Rs.2/- if you are connected, and this amount is reduced from your account.( I believe this is still being followed though I am not sure about this now) The satyam people justify this for the premium service they provide. A 50hr 1-month pack would cost you around Rs.315/-, which is Rs.35 to Rs.50/-, more than other service providers for the same pack.

But all being said they are the best in dialup connection as far as I know. Just try it. You won’t regret it.

Cheers!!!! Be Happy!!!!

Help ! Save me ! Pour some water , pleeze !!!
Oct 13, 2003 03:26 PM

This is the nightmarish tale of a young man who bought home a Sify Online start up pack of 25 hours duration about 15 days back . Now this young man has been surfing the net from home for the past 2 years and have used Sify on numerous occasions. So when he finished the existing account he thought that maybe he should renew it, even though he was not exactly happy with the speed . But he found that renewal packs are not available in the market. Left with no other option he went for a 25 hour start up pack and soon found himself tied up in a situation from where no was no way of coming back !!

Ordeal

Day 1-3 – The young man , after , surfing the net for about 130 minutes decided to check out his account logs and what does he find ? He finds that about 330 minutes have been deducted from his account-Billed minutes, as the Sify officials prefers to call it ! Intrigued , confused and angry , this young guy phoned the Sify Help desk . A young lady with a South-Indian accent picked up the phone . This is what the conversation went like.

Guy- Hi ! I have got to ask you something. I bought this start up pack of 25 hours about 3 days back and have surfed the net for about 130 minutes but almost 330 min have been deducted from my account? Can you explain this to me ?

Lady – (Very Coolly replied) Certainly. Please give me your user name ?

The Guy gave the user name and the lady explained –

Lady – Sir , on such and such date , you had logged on for 540 seconds. Now we divide it by 60 seconds and then we have 9 minutes. Now we multiply it by 1.5 and thus we get 13.5 which we then round it off to the nearest multiple of 5 , which in this case is 15 min .

Guy – But why multiply it by 1.5.

Lady- Sir , you live in a B-Classified city and hence we multiply it by 1.5.

Guy – B Classified city ? What’s that ? Well , anyway my account log shows that you have actually deducted 27 minutes instead of 15 minutes which you have just explained.

Lady – Sir , I am not finshed as yet .

Guy- What ?

Lady – Sir , we added 12 minutes to the 15 minutes and that’s how we came to deduct 27 minutes from your account .

Guy – What ? I mean , Why add 12 minutes ?

Lady – Sir , that’s our policy .It’s actually the “ Port Charges “ .

Guy – So , does it mean that even if I surf the net for 1 minute , you guys will deduct 5 + 12 = 17 minutes ?

Lady – That’s true Sir .

Guy- But surely this is ridiculous! I mean what kind of a policy is this ?

Lady- Good Day , Sir .

Guy- Hello ! Hello ! Hello !

Moral of the Story

Quite simple . Don’t go for Sify if you live in a B- Classified city . Don’t ask me how the classification is done coz I have no idea . But if you do go for sify then be prepared for the following-

1) Slow Speed- You will be connected at a speed anywhere between 9000 bps to 30000 bps. Getting connected at a speed in excess of 30000 bps is almost like a dream.

2) Pay through your nose- Even if you surf the net for 1 min , 17 min will be deducted from your account !! At least that’s the policy in the 25 hours pack and I guess, should be in the 10 and 20 hours pack also.

3 ) No free surfing – At least in the 25 hour pack there is no free night or Sunday surfing . Don’t know if this follows in all their packs or is it only so in B- Classified cities.

4) Check your account logs – In order to avoid being unconscious from shock, it’s better that you check your account logs from time to time!

Is it free after !! pm
Sep 28, 2003 04:27 PM

When I purchased the satyam online dial up connection the offer was that its free after 11 pm on weekdays and and on sundays. But when I cheked my account after two weeks I was surprised to see that every time I logged on 12 minutes are deducted from my total hours irrespective of the duratin of use. This 12 minutes deduction was made even if I logged on after 11 pm or on sudays. When contacted with the customer care service , they informed that this deduction iscalled port charges. But Vsnl or any other ISP as far as I know dont extract this so called port charge from the customers whenever they log on. For a 100 hours connection vsnl charges only 540 rupees whereas I had to pay 999 rupees for a similar connection of Satyam online. The customer support of satyam is so keen in reminding you when your connection expires. Many people still depend on satyam for internet connction because of their unawareness about the lower dial up charges of vsnl.

I'll take a bullet instead of Satyam
Jul 21, 2003 02:42 PM

I have not the words to describe how horrible my experience with Satyam has been... I purchased 100 hours of dial-up and after 10 hours of brief connectivity all connections broke loose... I AM ALLOWED HARDLY 1 - 2 MINUTES OF CONNECTIVITY after which the damn thing disconnects.. I called the CSupport and they are talking about line disturbance.. C'mon disburbance exclusively for Satyam??... I discontinued and use VSNL now... I get better service now and at least I can browse when I feel like I want to.

BOO TO SATYAM.. YOU NEED TO STOP CHEATING OR JUST GET LOST!!

Never use it
Apr 15, 2003 12:09 PM

Today I shall tell you about one of the funniest incidents of my life.

My friend utpal bought an ibm computer and he got a sify 45days/90 hours free pack. As the pack was of very short duration he gave me the user id and the password of it.I used it.The line was not so good, partially slower ones. But after the completion of the pack the kolkata dealer of sify asked us to renew it.I hesitated.I alleged him about the bad line of sify at our area but he told me that sify would be faster in the next month.

The offer was good.:--45 hours,5 hours free,3 month duration, night surfing free. They told me to check the line. And to give them money after my satisfaction.

You never believe it.I used it in the nights.Super fast line.I told them to take my money.I renewed my acount.

The funny experience is after they got my money the line is the worst in the world.

I complained. They told the telephone line of our area is not so good.I complained to the telephone office. They told that the line is very good.To make sure one of their worker came at my home and tested my line.I feel the line is very good.

Now my friend utpal was also bought the renewal connection and he faced the same experience like me.

Is it a joke? The sify was once one of the best isp.But today it is getting worse than the others.

I connect to the internet and the line is dosconnected after 5or 6 minutes.

And the customer care!Available between 900-1800.You have no option if the server computer does not take your user id and password.

My advise is that-----never use it.It is the cheater isp.Yesterday I had some important works to do..But I failed to connect.Experience...

1)172306---the line is busy.

2)172306---line..password incorrect

3)172306....line....password taken....line disconnected after 5 minutes.

4)033-22106111......customer care will be available between 9 am and 6 pm.

disgusting.

Chandigarh INDIA
SATYAM/SATYAMONLINE DIAL-UP SUCKS BIG TIME
Jan 03, 2003 12:06 PM

The SatyamOnline.com ISP is a household name in India. But their service sucks big time and so does their customer service’s defiance. Here are a few of the problems I faced with them:

  1. Connections to Yahoo.com and all concerned places life Yahoo Email server and Messenger are slow beyond comparison.

  2. http://www.Google.com is the only search server that is fast enough to be on their system. All others are a drag

  3. They have blocked many telephony sites like https://net2phone.com https://phonewala.com etc. When I called up customer service they say they have their own “elite” product called Way2Talk but it sucks big time as they are bandwidth starved and no QoS exists for voice calls.

Whenever you call customer service they tell you that your DNS server address is wrong and that you must empty the cache of the Internet Explorer or any other program that you use to browse. And the DNS server addresses are 202.144.10.50 and 202.144.13.50. For some reason they believe that giving the DNS server names correctly which in fact should have been done thru the DHCP server on their end makes the net very fast.

So when I did this I called them up again as nothing had improved they told me the same DNS crap again. Customer service is what they call this. Anyway after 10 minutes of talking (high pitched) is when they gave me their supervisor. Incidentally there are 3 levels of support in IT and not just 2 like SIFY/Satyam has. The supervisor told me that they are fixing the connectivity issue with Yahoo and in 24 hours all will be ok.

Well after 3 days (72 hours) I tried again but in vain as nothing was ever done. So I got back to them and guess what. My DNS servers are to be corrected again. AGAIN!!!! What was this some torture facility that I had called into? Well I did not want to get high pitched again so I told them to get me an administrator/supervisor. No way. Tell me she said. OK then LISTEN!! And she did listen. I am based in CHANDIGARH, India so they gave my references to a person (working for Satyam) in Chandigarh. He called me. I told him my problems about not being able to login into Yahoo and not being able to use net2phone telephony. Well he said that “You will have to use our Way2Talk product” as we will not allow you to use anyone else’s product. This is Tyranny, forcing us to use the second product, even though I don’t like the first one. Then to Yahoo’s login problems they say that yahoo’s service has gone down. If Yahoo was accessible in New York, USA then what happened to it when crossing the continents over a submarine fiber optic cable. It was all big bull crap. He never budged from his stand point that people appreciate Way2Talk more than they do Yahoo and Net2Phone. Those multinational companies are no match for quality of Way2Talk and I was the first person ever to tell him that. WOW is what I said.

I asked for money back. But that does not exist in their books. You are doomed to use the hours, like it or not. The service in Chandigarh is so bad that I think they have a 256kbps line only to serve the entire city which is also the common capital of Punjab and Haryana. I really believe their customer department is so good because so many people are calling and practice and defiance has made them perfect.

In all NEVER USE SATYAM/SIFY services. Or if are so bent to get hurt please get a small package in the first time like 25 hours, etc so that you don’t feel bad.

You can get back to me on jat50b@gmx.net if you have a question about this.

SATYAM - FUN, FAST AND EASY
Dec 13, 2002 04:37 PM

I have been using Satyam Online Dial Up Connection for the past three months and till date there has been not a single problem.

The service provided by Satyam is the best in all respect. They are always there to listen to your problems, even at odd hours of the night.

I had bought a Dial Up Connection of 100 Hrs at a price of Rs. 990, along which I got 50 hours of free connection.

Apart from this:

Satyam is Fun - Surfing is fun on Sundays and from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. in the morning on all days.

Satyam is Fast - It provides a speed of 54.6 Kbps even during peak hours.

Satyam is Easy - There are absolutely no problem in dialing, and I cannot remember a single instance when I had to dial twice.

While describing about Satyam, I am not biased at all. Prior to this, I had been using DOT's internet connection, but at times it would take atleast four to five dialing to get connected, secondly there was no backup service provided, if you are hanged up during night hours or even after 7 p.m. , there is nobody to listen to your call.

Well, as for the pricing, Satyam, I agree is a bit costly when compared to other ISP's, but quality comes with a price, and there is no second opinion about the quality that Satyam provides

In my opinion, Satyam is the best and true to its slogan.

FUN FAST and EASY.

So just log in via Satyam and enjoy surfing with a never before speed.

Pricing Structure of Satyam
Sep 10, 2002 05:02 PM

Satyam has a complicated pricing structure.

It was changed to new system all of a sudden by force.

It included the existing customers as well.

They should have implemented the new pricing fro the new customers only.

For every log on they take One rupee

and every 5 minutes they take one rupee.

The take this amount by reducing about five minutes for every rupee.

I don’t think any other ISP is charging in this way.

What ever money the need, it should be collected when the subscription is sold. I feel that is the right way and the customer won't feel that he is being cheated by hidden charges.

Please post your opinions.

Satyam is worthy
Jul 12, 2002 05:46 PM

Satyam is not a roadside ISP,it is having the quality in it thats why it is the no. 1 ISP of India in today's scenerio.

I was using it personally when the internet itself was young till one year back when I started using it commercially by opening a cyber cafe. and for the last 9 months i'm even more attached with their service as now they are my ISP for satyam i-way. recently they are moving to broadband and merged all of its branches under one umbrella to become the frontrunner in the field of internet service providers.

Their service is upto the mark, they are willing to change with the times and to stay updated with the times unlike the other companies which want to sell their product and don't bother about customer's grieviences. There is always a customer care facility available for every problem of the end users.

It depends on personal experience with som particular problem and may not be from the Company side. So it need not to blame the company for that.

It's not worth your time.

  1. Dialup connection speed sucks ... never got more than 36 Kpbs.

  2. Is there a customer service ??

  3. Takes it's own time to get connected.

  4. And wow bam ... oops sorry these sites have been disallowed access. That includes net2phone.com because it's satyam's competitor.

  5. What more can you expect from a totally uncompetitive company like satyam.

  6. You just keep guessing how to renew or why to renew ..

  7. Sify.com sucks even more. I bought SatyamOnline 200 Connection what I got was SatyamOnline 150 connection. I think we need to pull up our socks and push for better consumer courts.

Take my advice don't waste your precious time with satyam or satyam online. That's the Satya abt Satyam ...

Satyam ..the ISP at its Worst..! in Mangalore
Apr 24, 2002 02:35 PM

I am an internet user from last two years.Initially Satyam was a good service providers....But when the number of customers increased ..everything has gone.. No net speed..No customer service..

As a PC Hardware Reseller I sold mnm of 100 Satyam accounts. From last six months their service is not good. Eventhough the fault is from Satyam ,they never ready to accept it.They simply blame your telephone exchange and your modem.

Yup.. If you contacted the customer care....Gone case Initially you have to wait for 5 mnts in a queue for getting connected to the line...After that if want to recover your missing id's or password means again you have to call them after some five hours.... Overall this is not at all a joke..My personal experience.

As a reseller when I requested about the net problem they simply came to a decision that the telephone exchange is the curlpit but at the same time VASNET is running so nicely....(For satyam connection they may need some h-fi telephone exchange it seems...!)

For the peoples of South Canara (Managlore, Udupi,Puttur) I am suggesting Vasnet the local internet service. Its the best service..with good speed and valuable customer support.

If you compared the prices also ..we have to pay comparetively more to satyam for their ''Hi-Fi worst service...''

Fast & Reliable
Mar 16, 2002 11:36 PM

At the very outset, I would like to say that very recently, I have started using a 24hour online connection provided by a friendly neighborhood cable company, which finally works out cheaper for an avid and die-hard computer geek like me, but till that time I was and to some extent still am a die-hard Satyam (now Sify) user. The reason is very clear. I have used Icenet Online, VSNL, WilnetOnline and another cable connection provided by Ecomm at Vatva, AHmedabad while I was working as a consultant with a company having their factory and head office at vatva, and still I would find myself resorting to using my Satyam account to access the internet, because the others were a mite too slow for my liking. Again, as I said, it could be that I have a faster line, more accurate telephone exchange or a host of similar things that you could quote for the good performance with the software

Depends on what u want.

Hi All!! I've been an internet user for over 2 and 1/2 years now. And except for the very 1st ISP (VSNL)...I've always used Satyam Online. To come straight to the point ...Satyam gives you a very good surfing and downloading speed. Connectivity is great. But, just in case u have any problem the Customer Service is really poor. At times, you will not get through the number...or nobody answers the call; though they happen to call immediately when your ISP A/c hours are used-up so as to get it renewed!!

So finally, it depends on what you want from the ISP.
