Look at the data download limits !
Dec 01, 2003 08:57 PM 4340 Views

The ''Unlimited’’ is just an eye-wash, the actual download limits of data are very less......100, 300 MB etc....considering the fact that a visit to an average website like Hotmail or Yahoo to check your emails will swallow up at least 1 MB with all the graphics and flash, multi-media and other stuff that are embedded in almost all the web-pages.

And if you are a serious surfer or downloader and regularly download mp3s, software, images etc.... the allowed limit will be over in a day ....thats the real truth of the matter, so don’t get fooled.........check the amount of data transfer restrictions placed by the ISP, thats the key ! Also dont forget that the restrictions is on actual data-transfer, that is both ''upload + downloads'', hence when you surf, about 30% of the total is for sending TCP-IP acknowledgements of your downloaded packets, hence if you have 300 MB transfer limit, about 30% of that will go in TCP-ACK packets upstream or about 90 MB, hence you will be able to download only 210 MB before it reaches the total 300 MB transfer limit.

Standard ISPs throughout the World give unlimited downloads at 128 kpbs at a fixed rated of about $20 per month (Rs 900) and don’t meter each and every byte like as if people are downloading gold !

Primus India is the only REAL world-class ISP that gives unlimted download at 64 kpb (available only in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Ludhiana & Kolkata), dont get conned by those who give high speeds at 256 or 512 kpbs and low limits download limits......its just a waste, the data download limit is the important thing ...so watch the amount the ISP allows very carefully !!!

Better performance on M.P. Region
Mar 09, 2003 11:32 PM 4290 Views

Really I too much appreciate Mantraonline, because of this we are able to run internet on Katni. Katni is situtated in M.P.. It is center of India. Unfortunate BSNL is not running well in Katni and Mahakoshal region. We are thankfur to manra that we are running internet. I am the commercial user of Internet so I tested two availble ISP on Katni. I find Mantra is best here and rates are very competative and charging 90 paise per minute and other ISP is charging 1.20 paise and taking internet extra while mantra is providing free internet on their telephone so it is so cheap and better among other ISP

Mantra Broadband
Mar 04, 2003 10:58 AM 4797 Views

I took a broadband connection, broade.net from their franchisee - Kohli, Office N.4, B-10, Vasant Kunj on 1st November 2002. Since, February 15th my connection is down and they (Kohli's) keep telling me modems have got burnt and are coming from Mumbai. I subscribed to this service at Rs.1200/- per month, purely because Mantra Online and Bharti Networks are big names and, now I have to contend with illiterate, unconcerned factors who care nothing for the name they represent. Since last 18 days I have made at least 5 calls daily, and about 2 visits daily to Kohli office (tel:26138153, 26129122) only to be disappointed. This apart from innumerable hours at the cyber cafe to receive and send email messages. They (Kohli) have guaged my need and are now tormenting and harassing me to extract their pound of flesh for providing me a service that is their duty, after I have PAID IN ADVANCE. It is hard to believe that Mantra and Bharti are big names as ISP. I am a self employed person and have told them of my compulsion and they say that my house is more than 100 metres from the modem. A BLATANT LIE. It is not even 60 metres distance. And my house has not moved an inch since the time the connection was working when they installed it!!! Their excuses not only boggle the mind, but insult a persons common sense. I have lost business from my customers apart from my daily loss of Rs.500/- since I cannot do marketing. This apart from innumerable visits to cyber-cafe. For them however it is business as usual!!

'OYE VEY(OH NO) NO MANTRA FOR ME!
May 18, 2002 01:10 PM 4863 Views

  • PLEASE NOTE I HAVE ASKED THIS BE MOVED TO THE CORRECT SITE

If you have been reading my reviews you know that I meditate and can self -hypnotize myself, (which can

result in the same end). I thought I'd take a look at MANTRAONLINE. I found it was a very interesting. I thought I would fine only mantras here but was surprised that there was a great deal more.

On the site I found a lot of headline news from both India and Pakistan. Under that you can find out about business, entertainment and sports. The sports page had a lot of information about Cricket, Soccer and the upcoming FIFA Games in Japan and South Korea. In this area I was interesting in reading about the entertainment. There was a list of Bollywood Films and Indian Music I didn’t know existed.

The next section is called 'What's Hot' that has the topics: 'This is your life', 'We have to fight on our own', 'It is Angel to the Rescue and 'You will find someone trust us'. The moment I saw the word ‘Angel’ I read that article first. It wasn’t about an angel from heaven but an ‘earth angel’ who helped someone.

No site would be a picture of a beautiful Woman and Mantraonline is no exception. I wonder if they ever show a picture of a handsome Man?

There is a section called 'Weekend Timepass' that included the topics 'About Men & Women', 'The hills beckon' and 'Searching for a career?'. I thought I would take a look at whey the ‘hills beckon’ and it was a wonderful article about traveling in a hill area.

Another section is called 'Easy Finds'. Here you will find 'Broadband', 'Indian Directory', 'Jobs', 'Joke of the day', 'Weather' and 'Your luck today'. I saw that it was raining in south India. There were no jobs offered for a 64 year old Woman. I read the ‘joke’ and didn’t understand it as what one Culture finds funny another doesn’t because they are ‘in jokes’. My luck for today wasn’t so lucky so I moved on.

There is a 'Chat Room', 'Email', 'E-cards', Games, IT Education, Life Style', 'Matrimonial', 'Messenger', 'Mobile', 'Planner', 'Search', 'Shops', 'Travel' and of course 'Help'. I’m married so I didn’t look at Matrimonial. I took one look at the Travel page and almost fell off my chair. I know most of the discount fares from Canada to many places in the world. I must tell the people here who live in India and Pakistan that your discount fares are half the price to places in Canada. Lucky you! The shops were interesting and I sent each of my family members a free e-card from here.

The only thing I didn't find was anything about 'Mantra's'!

BHARTI BT Internet Ltd manages the site.

SOME THOUGHTS:

It was interesting for me to see things that people who live in Indian and Pakistan enjoy. I'm just sorry I couldn't learn a new 'Mantra' to do.

Chant a new mantra
May 26, 2001 05:57 PM 4303 Views

I've used Mantraonline during the past 2 years, in the first year it was undeniably the best ISP around, with lightening fast access and first try connection around the clock. Sadly that is no longer the case. Their service has steadily deteriorated and they have extremely unfriendly renewal options. Who ever designed their system was so brilliant that they never bothered to have an option for a person renewing their account to switch between schemes. So if you dont feel like getting an unlimted 1 year account again and would like to switch to a limited package then too bad, you'll have to get a new ID or once again shell out Rs 2500/- instead of say Rs 799 for a 150/300hr lifetime account.

By now I have something like 4-5 different ID's on Mantraonline and have long back stopped using their email service since the renewal option is too warped. They don't even have an option to remove any of my old ID's from their system so I can get a new account under a different scheme with the old ID.

Mantraonline is definitely not being run by technology savvy people probably just a bunch of sales reps and MBA's in Marketing.

Their connections are no longer reliable, despite connecting at 33.6kb the connection keeps timing out and web pages don't load fully before it displays a connection timed out or lost message. It only allows you to surf one site at a time which is very irritating if you are used to opening several sites simultaneously.

Mantra for Worry !
Mar 22, 2001 03:05 PM 3847 Views

The following is a copy of the letter e-mailed to the mantracare department.

I think it very clearly states the anomaly prevalent amongst most Internet service providers wherein they revert on their earlier terms and conditions without as much as a courtesy letter or intimation.

Earlier I had the sad experience of Pacific Internet touted as the best ISP in South Asia-Pacific region suddenly closing down and vanishing.

Mantraonline had many users who were enjoying lifetime validity on their services. The sudden suspension of these so called lifetime validity packs has created a lot of lost e-mails and communication problems. There has to be someway these guys can be brought to task and made responsible to live up to their promises.

They don't even update their websites with the current helpline telephone numbers. For the benefit of all MouthShutters here are their current helpline numbers.

Delhi 6812388 Kolkata 2171277 Hyderabad 4747343

Mumbai 28812726 Chennai 8418585 Chandigarh 601413

Bangalore 8455333 Pune 5661533 Jaipur 526052

Ahmedabad 6403103

Dear Mr. Satish Joshi,

or anybody in Customer care(if you care)

Today, after so many days of helpless running around and fervent e-mails to your customer care, I have finally managed to locate the helpline telephone number in Mumbai (even your website does not display the new numbers).

I had the 'pleasure' of speaking to Paramjeet and Karishma, who have expressed their inability to restore my a/c for lifetime as promised when the a/c was registered.

I have gone through their entire rigmarole regarding their reasons for being unable to sustain their lifetime validity due to reasons beyond their understanding viz. 'company policy' and 'server suspensions'

But you have no right to suspend any services without serving a due notice citing valid reasons. This is breach of a consumer's basic rights and I intend to rally around the many disgruntled users who have been left in the lurch by your arbitrary action through Public and Consumer Redressal Fora at your cost and consequences which please note.

I may add here that your unjustified action speaks poorly of an Indian company in the Information Technology business and will reflect still worse in the International Market vis a vis Foreign collaborations. This fact will duly expose your mischevious and malafide intentions in unjustified suspension of services and going back on your terms and conditions of use at time of purchase of these connections.

I only hope that such a drastic step will not be needed since it pains our heart to expose our own Indian companies misdemeanors.

Please do not take your consumers for a ride and don't take them for granted.

With no regards

Rajasagar

Nowhere better than the others
Dec 27, 2000 05:49 PM 3581 Views

I've used Mantraonline Dialup Accounts twice. Once for 6 months (50 hrs) and onece for 3 months (25 hrs.) The service is nowhere better than anyother ISP and therefore cannot be recommended. I experienced problems while registereing bothe the times and the online support though co-operative coulden't actively solve my problem. Connection speed is not better not less than anything else. Then why mantra than VSNL?

I would call it as One of the most popular ISP in India. Packs are easily available through widespread net work and also at major book-stall and department stores.

Starte kit is easy to use. Pack/documents/manual contains all information on registration, configuration, settings and all thats required for a new commers also.

nnectivity is improving in Mumbai helpdesk service needs improvements.

speed is avarage in Mumbai ..can it be improved?

Cheap but not slow
Nov 27, 2000 03:49 AM 3526 Views

I heard of Mantra Online from my cousin who heard it from his friend who heard from...

Mantra is very cheap which really excited us all at first. It was I think 10 rupees an hour but soon I came to know some people who had Mantra and their feeling were not good! They said it was slow and just to make sure, I signed up for it and it was really slow! Still in a place like India, you have to keep taking chances with news ISPs as the ISP industry is opening and more companies are being excited. I would recommend this if you are anxious to try something new but don't expect much!

Good because of own gateway
Nov 15, 2000 03:37 PM 3914 Views

Mantra online is not the cheapest ISP around nor the best (I still prefer VSNL). However since it has its own gateway and doesn't use VSNL's like the others, you will often find it possible to access it when all others fail. However it is pretty slow and you get disconnected quite a few times. All said and done, one should use it primarily because of the reason that it provides a good backup service when ones main ISP is down.
