Product: JBL Bar 500 Soundbar
Purchase Date: 12 July 2025, Croma Juhu(₹;36, 359.02)
Intended Use: With cable TV set-top box via HDMI.
Issue:
From 15 July 2025, soundbar transmits video but no audio from set-top box.
Tried multiple HDMI cables(₹;300) and a UGREEN HDMI switch(₹;2, 849).
Tested with multiple new set-top boxes from cable provider issue persists.
Works with Amazon Firestick, but that is not the intended primary use.
Now Firestick not used in living room; soundbar is useless for intended purpose.
Service History:
Multiple complaint numbers: 18173785, 18192866, 18176855.
JBL engineer visit failed to resolve; applied WD-40 to cables.
Call with JBL technical head(Mr. Satyawan Sadanand): acknowledged issue, blamed set-top box, admitted no tested solution and first such case.
No disclosure at purchase about possible HDMI compatibility issues.
Grounds:
Deficiency in Service(product not fit for intended purpose).
Unfair Trade Practice(non-disclosure of limitation).
