Sony’s Alpha DSLR-A330 is one the company’s latest entry-level DSLRs. Announced in May 2009, it’s the successor to the Alpha A300, and inherits many features from this earlier model including the same 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, quick Live View system and vertically-tilting screen. Indeed the internal specification is almost identical.
Its a new body shape that’s smaller and lighter than its predecessor and an easier control system designed for DSLR beginners upgrading from a point-and-shoot camera. As before the main differences between its predecessors are the sensor and the presence of Live View and the tilting screen, although the A330 and A380 also have a slightly different textured finish.
It also means you can switch in and out of Live View very quickly without any fuss. The default screen presentation graphically indicates how the aperture can be used to control depth-of-field, and the shutter used to freeze action. Buttons and switches are also minimised to avoid potential confusion.
Focusing, Sensor and Drive :
The Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 employs an A-mount for lenses and is compatible with the complete range of Sony lenses and third party models designed for the Sony. All lenses attached to this can explore the camera’s built-in Steady Shot stabilization. There’s no manual focusing ring to speak of, so like other kit lenses, It will also be grabbing and rotating the narrow end section. This section therefore also rotates during autofocus for readjusting after focusing.
The big new feature of these latest lenses is its short for Smooth Auto-focus Motor.
Exposures and bracketing :
Exposure bracketing is available with three frames at either 1/3 or 2/3 EV apart. This is pretty basic, as while most entry-level models also don’t offer more than three frames, they generally allow steps up to 2EV apart.
Anti-dust :
Like all Alpha DSLRs to date, the A330 uses its sensor-shifting mechanism to double-up as an anti-dust system. This vibrates the sensor during power-off in an attempt to shake-free any foreign particles. The sensor filter also has an anti-dust coating.
Sensor and processing :
The Alpha A330 is equipped with the same 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor as its predecessor, measuring 23.6x15.8mm. It generates 3:2 aspect ratio images with a maximum resolution of 3872x2592 pixels and there’s the choice of two lower resolutions at 5.6 and 2.5 Megapixels respectively. A cropped 16:9 aspect ratio is available in 8.4, 4.7 and 2.1 Megapixels.
Images on the A330 can be saved with Standard or Fine JPEG compression, or recorded as a RAW file either by itself or accompanied with a JPEG.
JPEG images sizes can be between 3 and 4MB each, while RAW files typically measure 12MB each. Along with the default Standard setting, you can choose from Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Night View, Sunset and Black and White; in the colour modes you can adjust contrast, saturation and sharpness in a range of +/-3 steps, but there’s still no filters for Black and White.
Design, Controls, Screen and Live view :
The Sony A330 is indeed smaller and lighter. Sony has completely redesigned through this model, to give it a unique look and feel compared to all the previous models. The grip in particular is quite unusual, being shorter than most and lacking the usual overhang at the top which prevents our middle finger from slipping, there’s still no optical depth-of-field preview button. Overall, the design is a better.
Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 Battery and connectivity :
It uses Info Lithium battery pack, As we powered ON, its siblings to save a little space and weight. It’s rated at 6.1 Watt Hours compared to 11.8 Watt Hours of the old model.
The Approximate Price for this Model is Rs.31190* !
