My First Day at Work

Posted on Feb 24, 2010 10:02 AM under General

6:45 am The alarm on my mobile phone rings and there are thousand bees buzzing in my head

7:00 am I finally get out of bed and gulp down my customary glass of warm water

7:30 am Do a bit of stretching and yoga. A part of me worries: “The bai hasn’t turned up.”

7:50 am The bai does arrive unapologetically late. I frown but she hardly notices me. I give up and rush for my bath.

8:15 am Someone gifted me a bottle of “itr” I decide to try it out for my first day at MouthShut.com.

8:20 am White oats and papaya for breakfast. “Cut the papaya properly,” I shrill to the bai who just does not bother to respond. I assume the silence to be a “No” but I hope it is a “Yes”.

8:30 am Off to work. Thankfully I find an auto .

9:15 am I am in the premises of MouthShut.com. The HR takes me into a nice glass cubicle for induction formalities. I bump into Jasmine

10:30 am I’m still reading documents and signing papers. Jasmine is edgy. She pops in and asks the HR: “How much time more?”

11:00 am I am through. Phew! I am led into Faisal’s room pronto by Jasmine where I meet him and the head of communications. We shake hands and its business time. Faisal takes me through MouthShut and my role. Jasmine shares her experience with handling a community. For the first time I understand what happens when you sit on the other end of a community.

1:00 pm Meeting over. I am introduced to the rest of the guys.

1:30 pm Lunch time. I have a major craving to smoke. I am taken to Shivsagar by some of my colleagues. En route I puff on my ciggie. Don’t frown.

2:15 pm Back to work. The product team explains the nitty-gritty of each and every feature on MouthShut.com

4:15 pm Jasmine shows me an interesting email. A member is angry that we do not have real gifts on MouthShut.com. Jasmine asks me to tackle this issue and I jump into it headlong.

5:00 pm Faisal calls me for a quick chat. He informs me that we are going to give Jasmine a nice farewell party. “Don’t tell her. It’s a secret.” “As if she does not know,” I quip.

6:00 pm Jasmine has posted her farewell diary. I am responding.

6:30 pm I am exhausted. It has been a long day. I sip on tea and smoke another one

6:45 pm Party time. “We will miss you Jasmine” is written on the cake. Aww! Jasmine talks and touches us all. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

7:15 pm Time to head home. I hope the bai has made something interesting for dinner otherwise I will have to do with noodles.

8:00 pm Jasmine sends me a message. “You’ll do a gud job. All d best.”

My First Day

Posted on Feb 23, 2010 11:04 AM under General

It's my first day in independent official capacity. Jasmine has packed her bags and left me in the lurch. Boo hoo! No tears, I tell myself - you're the new Head - Member Support. Huge responsibilities, great expectations.

So here I am trying to understand how things work. As a member I thought I knew MouthShut.com just as much as I knew myself. As a team member, it's different. It's funny how the guys on MouthShut who I knew before, interacted with earlier are going to look at me. The equations have changed.

But I'll get to the finishing line, I'm sure. I hope.

More importantly -

I'm there to support you, always.

Write to me at support@mouthshut.com" target="_blank"> support@mouthshut.com or simply send M2Ms. I shall reply.

Cheers! Have a great day!

M2M History thread - I love it

Posted on Jun 01, 2008 06:45 PM under General

Mouthshut's new design change is good. But the feature I love most is the M2M History with this member.

Just below the M2M message is a history of your conversations with that particular member. Now I can recall in words everything I wrote that particular member and everything the member wrote to me.

God bless whoever thought of this feature. Have you used it? I just the full history of my M2M with madhuriesingh. It gave me a chance to reflect where we both had misunderstanding and how we both resolved it.

M2M History has helped me a lot.
Love you all

Aprajita

Paulsb02 and Mouthshut competetion

Posted on Mar 16, 2008 01:40 AM under General

I have been an old member of mouthshut. Having participated and once have been lucky enuf to win the competetion where I won a cell phone.

Today I read Paulsb02 post on photo vote competetion. I missed his original posting otherwise I would also have voted. But having said that, the point I want to make is more such member competetions will encourage people like me to participate.

Paul and other such members should be encouraged to organise more original competetions. They make the site dynamic.

I will write to Faisal, CEO and Jasmine, member support head to reward Paul for such original exciting ideas.

What do you think?
Aprajita

Big girls do cry, yes they do

Posted on Feb 11, 2008 01:33 PM under General

Always thought how it'd be if I'm ever dumped by the guy of my dream, but I think this song captures that I'm moving on but still love you. Do comment on your experience, especially female readers who've been "dumped"...

Mumbai or Bombay Bombay Bombay

Posted on Feb 09, 2008 11:27 AM under General

Yesterday I read a very thought provoking post by MS ID: Qualitymonster where he lamented at the sad state of infrastructure in my childhood city of Bombay.
If you want to know more read: https://mouthshut.com/diary/readpost.php?postid=172

My nostalgic passions were aroused after reading this and I decided to bring to public a thought that I always wanted to share: What's in a name? I love Bombay. I grew up here and I always will be in love with Bombay. However, ever since the name change to Mumbai in 1997 or so, I feel bit disconnected with the city. Why change names? Bombay has history associated with it. Why rechristen it?

I am sure many of you think Bombay is cool but never expressed it.
What are your view? I love BOMBAY. For that matter I love Calcutta, Madras and Cochin.

Through this diary, I can express my anger. My passion and my desires. And ofcourse my reviews will keep coming so watch thsi.
