Excellent bike and power...
Sep 15, 2007 01:00 PM 2707 Views

I was searching for a nice bike  which is more powerful and nice looks. I have already had unicorn , yamaha, hero honda cbz , fiero.. I wanna some more powerful one , great looks etc.

I was looking for karizma or pulsar 180 dtsi. but wasa on a dilema... then I saw the autocar magazine comparing the karizma and 180.. they said 180 is best n always I read and compared  those. Finally got 180. now I enjoy a lot.. a bike packed up with lots of power good mileage for that power sitting position, engine performance, riding, handling, comfort, grip, all switches are all perfect the digital meter is vry nice compared to old ones  its  illumination is also nice in night.

I am much satisfied with its features and all... I cant find any cons  in this much. The led lights are vry excellent.  led in switches are the main attraction...  all my friends wanna fit the same in their bikes too.. sry for them all...  I dont hav much cons to say... many positives only... I am fully satisfied by the bikee... my dad at his age of 50 and above who also loves driving a lot.. likes to drive pulsar more than others... we have already unicorn , splendour, pleasure, glamour fi  and my pulsar... out of this he deserves only pulsar...  I can say pulsasr 180 is best....

What made the Pulsar sell - Success story of Bajaj
Sep 14, 2007 02:32 PM 9697 Views

"Bajaj Auto". is a prominent name in Motorcycles today. But rewind Back 15 years and perhaps even in ur wildest dreams u wouldn hav imagined this much growth and market share for Bajaj. During early days(1984)Bajaj Auto's major field was Scooters. Its was considered the King in Indian Scooter industry. It had a collabration with Kawasaki to introduce motorcycles. They produced the famous KB 100 series competing against range of 2-stroke bikes and mainly the RX-100 from Yamaha. Those were the times when the Indian economy was a closed one, where it was very difficult for foreign player to enter the Market.

But the liberalisation of our economy in 1991 opened up new avenues as well as incresed competition for most of Indian companies. Bajaj was headed by its founder and CEO Mr. Rahul Bajaj at that time. He became famous as head of the Bombay Club, opposing liberalisation till there was a level playing field for Indians and foreigners. The Bombay Club managed to slow liberalisation but could not stop it. Moreover, liberalisation brought the threat of cheap imports and FDI from top companies like Honda. Meanwhile Indians began to prefer motor-cycles to scooters, and Bajaj Auto could not touch Hero Honda in this field. Bajaj had released the K bajaj 4S champion which took of well only to lose to Hero Honda. Its K bajaj Boxer AT also failed miserably with HH launching Splendour which was a run away hit(still running now).Kawasaki also parted leaving the future of Bajaj motor cycles a big question mark.Scooter sales continued to plummet, the recession and stock market collapse of 2001 hit the company hard, and some stock market analysts thought it was doomed.

It was the time Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Rahul's eldest son, came back to India from business school in the US. He took a hard look at the company and came to very different conclusions. He saw that Rahul's ambition of becoming world No. 1 in scooters was irrelevant in a global economy where motor-cycles ruled supreme, and that the company needed to change its strategy accordingly. What followed was a stunning peice of turn around which has all criteria to get into the best books of Strategic Management!.

His startegy was simple yet path breaking. When u have a competitor so strong as HH dont compete in his domain of strength. The 100cc market was HH strength. Repeated attempts to compete in that space by Caliber, Boxer AT didnt make much of a difference. That was the time they decided to launch something new, perhaps create a new market. The concept was Pulsar began to grow. The Pulsar underwent almost 2 years of R&D. After so much of efforts and sweat Pulsar was launched in 2001 in two variants. 150cc and 180 cc. For the first 3 months the bike was termed a failure. I remember my Friend booking Chennai city's 3rd P-180 and we all ridiculed and laughed at him saying "u hav brought a failure model.CBZ rules always!". But the performance was jus awesome. The power it could generate, the macho looks, the huge tank, it was like a Wresler. A well-oiled Wresler. Gradually the sales began to pick up by the end of 8 months, Pulsar was considered a Huge hit with P-150 leading the way. Pulsar instantly became the fav of all collage lads. The result was so obvious in the Stock prices.

The dream did not stop with that, having created and captured the upper market(more than 150cc). Bajaj immdeiatly revamped its older model The Boxer At. It did some face lift and rechristened as Bajaj Boxer CT. The pricing played a important role here. When all HH model were priced higher, the Boxer CT was made available at 34k odd. The diff in price for CT and Splendour was a whopping 10K. Slowly it began eating the market share of HH. But HH was still going good with its splendours, Passions and CBZs.

The masterstroke which Bajaj had planned yet failed was the Calliber 115 and Wind 125!. Yes Bajaj's ploy was not to directly attack a strong competitor but to close all his ways and then kill him by cornering!. Bajaj already had a Upper market(CBZ sales soon dwindled due to poor mileage), it was growing in the lower end 100cc market. Its aim was to capture the 110-125 cc market so that customers are left with more alternatives from Bajaj. But sadly the only thing that clicked for those two bikes were its marketing campagins. This provided the HH some way out which had lately realised the submerged threat from Bajaj.

The R&D of Bajaj then came up with a jem of reaserch - The DTS-i(Digital Twin Spark ingnition). The DTSi technology incorporates twin sparkplugs at either ends of the combustion chamber for faster and better combustion. Single sparkplug meant slower burning of the air-fuel mixture and sub-optimal combustion chamber characteristics. Soon the Pulsar DTSi was launched with the much needed front fairing. It was a craze then. The snail paced HH was still running its splendours and passions, but took some intiative and launched the Super Splendour and Glamour.(both 125cc bikes). This space where Bajaj had let off briefly, only to come back stronger with its Discover 125cc. This also had the DTSi technology.

The Pulsar then launched the stuningly handsome Pulsar Version 3 with a low flung head peice, smashing alloys wheels and a new rider position. It aslo improved the suspension system with gas filled(Nitrox) shock absorbers. Bajaj very strongly captured the upper segment market share, competing the likes of HH Karizma and new entrants Honda Unicorn, and the TVS Apache.

The latest Pulsar version(4) has new designed heald light, A LED(Light Emmiting Diode - faster response time than ordinary bulbs)tail lamp, A LCD Digital Speedo wih Odometer. Unbreakable indicators, car like indicator turn switch. Though the latest bikes form TVS(RTR), Honda(Unicorn) and HH(Extreme) are also very good bikes and are competing for the space orginally created by Bajaj.

What is more important is the way these two companies hav taken their businesses about. While HH was leathargic for most time, Bajaj had been constantly innovating. The splendour was a splendour for more than 10 Years now. but the Pulsar has undergone 4 upgradations in 5 years. Yes, there may be some quality issues, but Bajaj didnt produce motorcycles from the time Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha started. For an Indian company to have taken up these forigen gaints head on and winning it is something really great. The stock prices for Bajaj as of now is 2 times higher than HH.

One need not be a proud Indian only when we win a cricket match against Pakistan or winning a Hockey world cup. U can proud of this Indian who had made a company resurge after everybody closed their doors on it. I am not saying Pulsar is a great bike or Bajaj is a great company, No, my intention is not that. There are bikes in India which are far more superior and refined than Bajaj bikes. Infact I dont own a Bajaj or I am not planning to own one!. But I want u to appreciate the guts and brillance of Bajaj's strategy. I want u to know how much efforts was put in at a difficult time to bring out the pulsar. Its a star for Bajaj.

Always remember, "Its not great to take up horses and train them to race. Its about taking in donkeys to race against horses and winning it too!".

Pulsar 150 DTSi new
Jul 13, 2007 03:38 PM 13168 Views

This is a longish review, to make best use of your time I am letting know who should read this:

-new/resale bike buyers

-bajaj management and bajaj pulsar product team

-bajaj dealers

-& of course bike enthusiasts :)

I have been a bajaj pulsar 150 new (digi console) user for the past 8 months, and I believe someone who's done all the free servicing for a new bike is well qualified for a basic review, so here it goes..

First off, I am not very impressed with the whole bajaj pulsar experience, this right from talking to dealers, checking the bike, getting the delivery done and riding 8K kms, let me at the same time tell you that this a very subjective and localised experience and can differ due to hazaar other reasons.

THE BAD and THE VERY BAD

1.The Prospecting and Purchase:

I had a bad time getting the bike delivered after paying 65K upfront.. "registration and insurance takes time to get done" is what was told everyday,  on other hand I personally saw a dealer staff (supposedly transporting a fresh bike to another dealer) crossing 65-75kmph in the very first few kms. Its anybody's guess what it would have done to the soul of the new bike.

2.The Servicing:

After my second servicing, all exposed parts like kick, petrol knob, light and indicator switches and key usage jammed so badly that I had to use both hands to turn the kick or pertol knob etc. it still remains like that and its a pain to use. this I suppose is due to corrosion after servicing..

To my utmost horror 30-50% of the metal parts started getting rusted within days of the servicing, almost every single nut - bolt is a shade of rust brown today and no dealer is ready to accept the fault. It pains me to see a brand new bike looking 5 years old within months.

The service center guy promised he will talk to the Regional Manager and see if the parts can be replaced. Its now 3 months and I havent heard from anyone. If Bajaj is listening I make a open plea here for your response, I belong to Adyar, Chennai, TN and you can write to me at dennism75@hotmail.com

*3.Riding:

*My guess is Bajaj compromised looks for riding pleasure, the Pulsar Gear is the worst ever assembly of manual transmission in bikes, its so bad that I would not even give it 1 /10 for its quality. some of the issues are

Notchy Gear Box: I promise you I would not have bought the bike if I knew this, sometimes the noise is so loud that I have to literally see if the thing is still attached to the box, and many times I change gears with trepidation. and yet many times nowadays I see the gear getting auto stuck in the middle of 4th and 5th with a noisy rattle at speed of 50. this happens all by itself while my feet rests and heart pumps at the speed of the rattle..

The worst part is that the gears go out of sync with the green neutral light on the console, I have had missed risky crash and freak accidents when the neutral light glows while the bike actually is in first or second gear, so when I release the clutch unassumigly the bike jumps up right between your legs to your horror, the service guys still have not solved this problem.

Comfort: After an usual hour long drive I dont feel the comfort of having ridden a 150 cc bike due to the egronomics, things like fartigue, lower back stress is common unlike the bikes in the past I rode, I think theres enough room on this for bajaj to improve. All the award in this category goes to Unicorn. its time bajaj picks up cues on good engine automobile development from the Japanese

4. Digital Console:

Another example of compromising looks for quality, Bajaj really exploited the look favoring indian customer with this fancy console. The biggest draw back is if there's any problem with the battery the console is completely off and so u will not have the fuel indicator, KM reading and speed info at your disposal.

this happened to me when after the second servicing the battery fuse got corroded (bad metal) and refused to power the bike. the second is that the console turns into large black blotches in hot afternoon sun. though this is temporary it shows that the LCD panel is not suited for hot indian sun and is meant for car dashboards etc

The fuel indicator bar and a red indicator light on the console have no real meaning, it would have been a good thing had it indicated approx 1 litre for every bar, it sadly does not and frequently the bars jump up and down like your mobile network indicator all this for no reason

5. Turn Radius:

A very very big drawback on this bike is the turn radius, the bike handle simply gets stuck when you are looking to take a u turn or sharp turn out of a narrow lane. especially when you have to take the bike out after parking, you need huge room for turning the bike in the opposite direction.

Bajaj should allow more maneuverability on both sides so that you can turn the bike in one or two backward forward iterations on a 15 feet road, I dont know about other bikes but I can tell you that the yester year Samurai and Yamaha RX is best in the category

*THE GOOD and THE OK`

5.Looks: *

without doubt Pulsar scores over every single indian bike in looks, the closest is CBZ and Apache. This is a highlight because more sales and numbers on the road actually negates looks and exclusivity but Bajaj still rules this space. The orange console (though just fancy) adds a highlight and backlight LED adds to the oomph factor

*6.Pickup and Speed:

*I will give "above average" for this section, But I certainly see the new splendour giving me a run for the money in the second and third gear. Otherwise a good job on the technicals here.

7. Mileage:

My Pulsar 150 now gives 45-47kmph in city riding and am not a power rider, I have now also realised petrol station wher you fill makes greater difference... SHELL for one is good and I see doing 3-4 km extra for every litre

*8. Tyres and Brakes

*I will give full marks for the disc brakes, rear brakes and the tyres for what they are. This is a bike which will stand by in good stead when you think you have already crashed into the impeding object.

I hope this is useful and Bajaj takes some cues from the reviews, If you think there an area you can help me with or have another opinion on what I wrote let me know about it.

Pulsar 150 DTS-i
Jul 03, 2007 02:07 PM 5183 Views

Hey guys I been using Pulsar 150 DTS -i for about 2 yrs from now and the bike is perfect for almost everyone as it has good speed and gives decent milage.I bought this bike with my friends reference

and was excited when I had first test ride.It has wonderful pickup and zooms from zero to 60kmph in 5.66 seconds.Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi gives a mileage of 55-60 kmpl .

The bike now feels plusher, more comfortable, and is generally less trick and more treat. Even the less experienced rider will be able to push this bike farther into its handling envelope than he would the older edition. The DTS-i is very stable, corners brilliantly, is wonderful to flick around and steers absolutely plumb. Braking is sure footed and we managed to stop from 60kph to rest in a fraction above 16 meters. Seeing just how much more powerful the DTS-I is, you’d expect a slight drop in fuel efficiency, but not so. Our tests fetched 56kpl in city conditions and 62kpl out on the highway, which nearly mirror the old 150.

Dimensionally, the bike is a bit longer and a tad shorter than its older version primarily due to its wheelbase which is now 1330 mm the 17? six spoke alloys as compared to the 18? rims on the previous version. Also the travel on the fork is increased a bit so there is an extra gap of 13 mm between the faring tip and the front mudguard. Technically speaking, we have a bike having 135mm travel in the front fork and 100mm on the rear gas shocks. With the pulsar being the hit of the nation for quite sometime now, the new look and feel bike is just a step forward to continue its great legacy. The bike is tough and is good at rough roads also. Now my dream is to ride new bajaj Pulsar 220cc DTS-fi.

Think Before buying
Jun 12, 2007 05:04 PM 9084 Views

Pics. Goto a showroom and have a close look at the bike you will

I have a CBZ Xtreme  leaving pulsar 150 due ti my extensive research and advices from professionals and following are my reviews and reasons why I have got it.

1.Looks(Most hot topic abt CBZX): If you have seen only pic of the bike, i swear not to go by find the difference. More you see it the more you love it. Many saidthat Headlamp looks odd, some say its as fusion between few bike’s headlights, I dont think so, observe keenly, Headlamp is completely

different from any other bike, and coming to embedded indicators, its better to have

embedded rather than hanging when they are broken(usually seen in pulsars & discover nore),

am I right? and this is my bet to you all after you see the bike closely not in pic…you will find the difference.

  1. Performance: When comes to performance I have seen no one wants to compare their bikes(pulsars especially) with CBZ Xtreme. All pulsar owners can only speak abt looks, nothing else. 149.2CC, 14.4BHp, 0-60 4.8 Sec, Max 115kmph. any pulsar(150cc, 180cc) owner can compete with me in accelaration, top speed, balance, handling, road grip with me.

Most reviews here are only on looks, observe keenly. not on performance. when come to journey finally it comes to performance not looks, am I right?

in CBZ-Xtreme Speedometer you wont find usual economy zone indicator(Green color between 40-55kmph, I hope you all know what does this mean, Its a pure powerbike not concentrating on mileage.

But………CBZ-X gives 50kmpl in city roads. better than old CBZ’s 35kmpl and competetive with pulsars 52kmpl.

I have driven new Pulsar 150cc(more than 1000KM) with so called advanced features like digital console and etc. not much of difference between old pulsar. Just makes a sound as of 150cc bike, but can compete with Bajaj Discover, Super splendour( this is better than pulsar cos, comparing with pulsar, super splendour easily touches 70kmph in 3rd gear, give a try and see). its a just old pulsar with cosmetic changes which has lost its exclusivity( I hope what does this mean). uses some hi-fi DTSI terms no one knows what it does!, Observe any pulsar’s rear mud-gaurd, its shakes so much that it may fall any time. at 90kmph pulsar nice massager with good vibrations but Xtreme is

stable still at 115kmph.

another compared feature is weight: more heavy your bike more road grip you get. any how CBZ is not for a 5ft to 5’8? guy.

after driving both the bike these are my feed back on CBZ-X and Pulsar 150cc, lets go in detail

Maker:

HH: Known for its quality bikes and good maintanance.

Bajaj: What can you expect from 3 Wheeler manufracturer, pulsar is well

known for gear problems, metal fatigue, dangerous fuel tank design, getting offbalance when dics brakes are used.

Engine:

CBZ-X: 149.2cc, 14.4Bhp @ 8000rpm(best in its segment), Topspeed @115kmph(best in its segment), 0-100kmph 19.2 sec(best in its segment), 0-60kmph 4.8sec(best in its segment), Mileage 50kmpl in City, 61kmpl Highways, alloy wheels with tuffup tubes, Disc Brake system, LED

Tail Lamp, Multi Reflector Head lamp

New Pulsar 150cc: 149.8cc, 13.8Bhp @ 8000rpm, Topspeed 110kmph(if you try more than that, handle will be in you hand, not attacked with the bike), 0-100kmph 22.1 sec, 0-60kmpg 5.3 sec, Mileage 50kmpl in city, 60kmpl on highways, allow wheels, Disc Brake, LED Tail Lamp, Multi

Reflector Head lamp

Looks: This is the only place where pulsar can compete with CBZ-X, I find both look good, but if want to be in the crowd go for pulsar. as far my knowledge apache and unicorn are good looking bikes too. Again, dont go by the pictures, goto showroom and have a look.

Handling:

Before starting this, have you performed this test on you bike before buying it?

Do this, Ride your bike at 30-40kmph speed and leave handle, is you bike still going in straight line or swaying?

CBZ-X: CBZ-X goes in a straight line, No skidding even at turns at 100kmph, Cruise thru city traffic easily, Easy braking, since the riding postion in CBZ-X is designed so that you lean forward like in

racing bikes, that will help you in easily applying brakes.

New Pulsar 150cc: Does Pulsar goes in straight line in above test? Know for its dangerous fuel tank design, I hope your “Definitely Male ” thing may be lost if you use disc brake at high speed in this bike. Riders easily fall when u use disc brake at low speeds too. known for getting off balance at steep turns, Due to its low wheel displacement.

Comfort:

One more test here, check the angle at your hip horizontal to bike, when you sit on the bike.

CBZ-X: you are leaning on to the bike, and you are in comfortable postion, this is same as in any racing bike. you can observe 70 Degree to 80 Degrees angle at your hip.

New Pulsar 150cc: stiff at 90 Degrees, easy back ache with in minutes.

I’ve got still more points ….but first let me get any feedback on my reviwes.i will answer each of your queries

Getting a new Pulsar
Apr 14, 2007 07:38 PM 4951 Views

I am planning to get a Pulsar DTSi 150cc / 180 cc and have some concerns. I would prefer to get a 180 cc but is worried about the mileage.

As I need to travel 30 kms daily to office ( to and fro ), I would like to know, what is the average mileage on road ( with a lot of traffic ) I can expect from the 150 cc and the 180 cc variants.

I would like to know the differences or improvements ( if any ) in the three variants of Pulsar(150 cc / 180 cc / 200 cc).

I want to buy the bike from a Bajaj probiking showroom. I would like to know the pros and cons of buying the Pulsar from a Probiking showroom rather than from a non-probiking showroom in terms of price and service quality.

Do share ur opinions / suggestions on the above concerns.

Thanks in advance.

Bikers review

Hi guys I am a biker like to ride my bike everywhere pulsar is a class bike but of the road its not that comfortable but in city its too good better than any other bike in its segment. The control of this bike is great but really speaking the shock absorbers with the nox are better but could have been the best. Also the spares are cheap and available widely.

Pulsar gives you a feeling of pride kingsize life when you ride it on a smooth straight road where you can cross the 100Kmph barrier. Its fuel effiency is good compared to its engine capacity and the style is cool and suits any personality. But the only problem I have faced with the bike till now is the rear tyre tends to show some instability when you hit the disk brakes at reasonable speeds. The bike has a huge tank capacity so you need not refill again and again when on a long route.

The control of the bike is great at high speeds the manuvaribility is excellent.Bajaj has come up with the new pulsar with digital display and cool tail lights that is something to be jealous of .Guys planning for a bike have a test ride of pulsar 150 DTSI and you wont go for any other bike

Happy riding and remember always wear a helmet while riding your bike

Pulsar 180 cc DTSi
Feb 26, 2007 02:14 PM 4507 Views

This demon has got a lot of power inside to conquer indian roads. And I have tried upto a speed of 110 km/hr in bangalore - mysore highway(as shown in its speedometer). Vehicle is stable because of its enough weight to sustain that speed. But it is all up to you if are too ignorant to make a mistake!. I am really satisfied in terms of looks, power and speed it delivers comparing to other bikes.

Handling Pulsar during a rash drive in city traffic is not that easy, because of its wide handles. This may be an inconvenience for guys who like to slide through small gaps in heavy traffics. Its front disk brake causes abrupt stops too. It is really helpful if and only if you are enough experienced to apply disc brakes. Otherwise be careful while applying this at high speeds as well as city traffic. Former may lead to an abrupt stop of the bike than expected, which will make u throw towards front of the vehicle. Latter condition will cause problems to riders who are following you. Mind that all bikes dont have disc brakes.

Even though too much mileage is not expected from vehicles above 150 cc, pulsar 180's mileage is only 35 - 40 km/lr(rash drive) and 45 - 50 km/lr(very decent 50 - 55 km/hr speed). So dont afford this bike if u r expecting more than 45 km/lr under normal conditions.

Pulsar's service and maintanence cost is some what high comparing to brands like hero honda. It will entirely depend up on the mode of use. Rash rides may demand high service costs. But bajaj spare parts are fairly cheap, so affordable if there is no major replacements or damage.

Overall performance and satisfaction that pulsar delivers is more than enough and expected. But I will recommend this or a bike with more than 150 cc only for passionate fast and adventurous bike riders. Otherwise they can opt for some normal 100 or 125 cc bikes.

Value for money

Bajaj Pulsar DTSi is a complete satisfaction in terms of money comfort and ride. I bought my bike 2 years back ( alloy wheels) and since then I ve not even replaced spark plugs ( even after 26480 kms ride) . I have barely used kick to start bike as self start is still great going. Few days back I had a pollution check for my bike, the prescribe limit is 3.00% but believe me my bike % was 0.06.

I always recommend to use premium petrol instead of normal petrol because that really works wonder with its amazing counterpart i.e.PULSAR.

Blinkers or indicators is a field where some more engineering is required but that's not a big deal as the road conditions and traffic in india is known to everybody.

The presence of service centre is also a bonus feature of after sale and it's really great to be a part of BAJAJ team.

Kick ....start and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ZoooM
Feb 23, 2007 06:03 PM 2515 Views

I got this bike a year back and since then its have been a smooth ride all through.

I normally a speed freak so, average isn’t a major concern for me, still my pulsar has always given a 50 km/ltr aveg.

The looks are deadly and riding position give all that comfort even in city riding. Long driving is even more stress free as you tend to take your small sniff of breath once your bike conveniently overtakes an front moving truck or a trolly.

Only discomfort is the stiff clutch gear and accelartor, but yes for a bike of this capacity one has to be careful in keeping up to control.

My bike is like a part of my body now, its steers efficiently as if reads my thoughts.

The braking and acceleration is awesome.

So guys bajaj pular dtsi is the bike to look for!!

Let’s grab it and ZOOOm..........

Pulsar DTSI by Bajaj is a definite male's choice !
Feb 23, 2007 10:03 AM 2471 Views

My Pulsar DTSI 150 CC has recently crossed its 4th servicing.and all 4 went smoothly.except oil change, and mior rubber replacement all it got is a good wash.

Well Pulsar is a bike that looks like male.mine is black.robust looking and when you ride it you feel its reliablity in its vibration. You push the gear up, up and up to the 4th .and yet it is the same buzz sound as if motion is its part of life - No roaring.no noise. There is bumps ahead .and you never feel the it .no jerk .just a smooth movement on your seat. Feels great. Looks great. And if it consumes a liter of oil .it never asks you before 57 on the road. I think you can rely on it. Life I think moves very fast if you wish and slow if you wish. But both ways you feel it is with complete harmony with your life. Runs great and feels great. Thats what I call a bike.

I think if you are a male.u do to have ride on it. After all as I just said - its a definite male's choice!

This bike was like a dream to me during my college days….  I had driven once my friends pulsar(First version which was not with DSTi engine) and from that day on I   wanted to buy this bike….So once I got my job this was my first major purchase….today it is like almost 2 Years and It has been giving me good mileage around 55km/l and even at 100km/Hr you have a feeling that bike under your control. Engine performance at high speeds is really great whether it is pick or the speed both are excellent. The only problem I have faced is at times after applying rear breaks the rear tier of the bike skids. Rest the bike is really great and fun to drive and of course the new looks of bike are really .All other models of bajaj in the top model are good and the new 220 CC pulser is really great and looks kool.

Oh, its wonderful experience riding my pulsar 150 CC DTSi. I had a drean to ride a bike with maximum speed without a noice from engine box. thats came true with my pulsar & i touched the 130 kmph speed. also at the same fuel efficiency was good and I was getting an average of 50-55kmpl.

Classic suspension & disc breaks were a real & unique advantage of this bike which helped me to overcome some uncertain accidents. I really thankful to Bajaj Auto team members & looking forward to buy their new launched model of the same.

Its unique and awesome design earlier when it was launched was totally new in market & it was & it is a bike designed so well that, that  it was look like a complete bike without gaps between other parts of the bike. Unlike other bikes it is having good balance , strong engine, aaand good speed with good ful efficiency.

Feb 22, 2007 07:36 PM 33724 Views

Bajaj Auto, the pioneer in performance biking has further extended the portfolio with the launch of the new 200 cc ‘Pulsar’ DTS-i launched recently at New Dehi on 13th feb.The latest offering has set new benchmarks in technology, performance, and styling to address the needs of a growing segment of pro-bikers.

The new Pulsar has many firsts to its credit. It comes equipped with an Oil cooler, which helps control engine oil temperatures at sustained high speeds and rpms, thus ensuring more stable engine oil viscosity. The 200cc DTS-i engine generates 18 Ps of raw pulsating power to provide riding excitement to performance hungry bikers. This makes the Pulsar 200 the most sporty and stylish powerhouse on two wheels to pace the Indian roads.

It’s also the first bike in India to feature both front and rear tubeless tyres, which besides offering superior stability are safer than conventional tube types and in sync with the offerings abroad for similar applications. The rear tyre is the broadest in its category to ensure better road grip and stability.

The new digital console is an advanced version of the latest Pulsar family. Apart from the Digital Odometer, Digital Speedo Meter, Digital Fuel Gauge and two Digital Trip Meters, the console on the 200 cc Pulsar DTS-i has indicators for Air filter condition, Engine temperature, Battery voltage and Oil level, all of which contribute to enhancing rider info for trouble-free riding. Another first is the use of split seats for styling and comfort. The split grab rail perfectly compliments the new rear chiseled looks. It is also the first Indian bike to have electric start as the sole means of engine cranking, dispensing with the kick lever.

This launch is in line with co strategy of enhancing product portfolio to offer riding excitement to pro-bikers.Entire focus and effort is to deliver outstanding technology and performance. The new Pulsar has now raised the bar in the motorcycle industry with superior technology and features such as the engine oil cooler, digital console etc.

BAJAJ is already market leader by far in the performance segment and Pulsar 200 DTS-i would further reinforce its position in this important segment. The bike joins the immensely popular 150 cc and the 180cc Pulsar DTS-i to extend the Pulsar DTS-i range across a range of price and performance points.

it comes at an attractive price of Rs.65, 497 ex showroom, New Delhi.

The new pulsar 180 dtsi with self starter is the most amzing bike that have launched by any bike manufacturer in India. Though the previous 150 dtsi can also be put behind a little by Honda Unicorn but this 180 model is peerless and still now unparallel. Firstly the new bikini fairy and the sharp sporty look is a class by itself, no bike in Idia can even come closer to its look.

Secondly the amazing power of its 178.6cc displacement engine , a best with you, can go to 110kmph in just matter of seconds with only 5500 rpm. Thirdly pillion driving and control in traffic is a cake walk for its 17 inch allow rear and front tires. Forthly the milege that it give away to its well maintainer along with its roburst power is amazing. All together a beast but to handle with care, no hanky-panky driving with this giant though it has a very sturdy fron disc brake

I am working as network engg, so I will travel daily around 50 kms on avarage, I bought new pulsar DTSi , but now I am suffering why have made such a decision to buy this.

pros: only looks

cons: 1. gears r not shifting in proper manner, al;ways slips producing  huge noise ( just I have rided only 3200 kms)

  1. digital meter hangs if I cross 100kms/hour speed

  2. produces  huge sound

  3. mileage 30-40kms/liter

5 after complaning in service station about all this (digital meter  , gear shift, sound), they said towrite a com;lent to bajaj motors , all this complents are repeatedely comming to us , plases comtact  pajaj motors.

6.pick up : unicorn is best  best compared to this ................

in cons   point # 1, 2 &4 are given by  many  people whom I asked

even

after  coping  the gear  shift model from unicorn their were unable tto fix this bug, many of my freinds who r owning this bike (old pulsar)  said that the had changed their gear box set aftre 14000  kms.so decision is left to u , it ismy view on this bike
