~*Random Musings of a Baffled Mind*~

By: bhupeshrai | Posted Mar 19, 2009 | Aise Hi | 1150 Views | (Updated Mar 20, 2009 11:09 AM)

When I started writing this, I was confused, what exactly I gonna write?..

Well, it’s nothing but a folio out of my never-ending string of feelings which troubled me everyday. Some achieved with immense endeavor restocking my intellect by liveliness and adding together greenhorn to current feelings which still are in conduit and necessitate shooting up in near future.

But there is one thing what I always wanted to face is that "Have I done this just to gratify my internal ego or is it out of yearning for it?”

Well, from long time, I am looking for an answer but still not satisfied with it.

Does my ideas are the one's which are gratifying my so called inner self-esteem or is it that I really longed for!!

When I looked for differences between Ego and Desire, whether "Ego"and "Desire" are tantamount or there is something restrained about them but one thing is for sure that both gratify our inner senses. But when I think, what came to my mind is that when "Ego"gets coupled with ones "Inner self" it becomes vanguard of our lives.

Anyone have any other thoughts???

Whereas “Desire” is part of everyone’s life but perhaps only very few effectively achieved.

Now, cometh the issue -dreaming which normally we always cherish for it to be reality is trying to satisfy Ego or Desire????

Ego and Desire, two are so close for they have same insinuation on our lives but definitely there is something which unquestionably distinguishes them.

"Well, still I am looking for an answer "andwill always do........

Thats a thought provoking post! I feel that an inflated ego can be annoying to others and harmful to oneself. Desire (to succeed) for a particular goal, can actually lead to more motivation with a chance of success. But then when desire becomes obsession -- that again is a problem....Read More

hummmm first its good to see u back after such a long time. Kya baat hain is sabbatical mein lagta hain philosopher ban gaye? 'Ego' and 'Desire' are two dangerous things if not handled properly may lead to grave results. Defining the fine line separating them is really very tough. Its all relative to the perspective....Read More

I never get judgemental with feelings..coz they mostly make me take decisions..
well desire is more versed and suited to my intellect and so i try sticking to that..in a good sense that is.

However, one cannot presume as to what Ego is, as we tend to be Egoistic at times when we least expect such a thing...

Great piece!
Keep writing!

Must say that you have really put it well. The line which marks the difference between ego and urge is that anything done which is just a way of satisfying your ego, will never have a long life. Its just a temporary phase which comes to an end. For Eg a musician can never carry on to make music if its just a way of satisfying his ego.

But if you really have an urge for it, you will go for it, natural yearnings coming directly from heart never die. They live forvever!

And yeah success may become the food for ego, but then urges take a backseat.

Thatswhy you will always find the one who keep gaining heights are the most humble ones and they look up with respect. While egocentrics are always looking down....ending up somewhere there

I never get judgemental with feelings..coz they mostly make me take decisions here is the catch
you know this thing
but even then our feelings are influenced by our ego..

Lets take an example,In office our boss scold us infront of our subordinates and ask us to learn from them, there our ego comes in pic and force us not to learn but in heart we know that we can learn

In family, if wife is ill and we have to cook the food or when she call us to help with cooking most of the time we think this doesnt suit us (reason being MALEs not supposed to do this thing)

Monoo bhai
First of all sorry for being so philosphical

There are three kind of ego’s-- ID, Ego and SuperEGO. According to Freud and traditional psychology the Id represents the raw uncontrolled and ungratified needs and desires of a person. The only goal of the Id is to seek gratification of desire.

Then there is the Ego, which is basically the personality that regulates the Id in fulfilling desires. The ego is your personality and your sense of “I am”. Conflict occurs when the ego suppresses the Id on an unconscious level. The Superego is the Self Ideal that commands on the Ego.

The Superego includes how the ego would like to see itself or what it thinks it should be like. It represents the cultural ideals and expectations, which can cause pain and suffering to the ego in satisfying the desires of the Id.

The ego is trapped in the middle and pulled in opposite directions by the unsatisfied Id and superego. The superego arguably is the collective ego of society. It represents mankind’s current spiritual state of misunderstanding.

Well I dont think Ego and Desire can go together.. they are poles apart.. for eg.. I use a 2 wheeler n very comfy with it..all my frnds ask me to buy a car now coz they all ve one..and I can afford it too.. but I dont feel the need for it now, so dont even desire to have one..and I wont buy a car just for status symbol if I do so then I am satisfying the purchase to massage my Ego..isnt it ? dont know if I got ur post right..sorry if I didnt.. but must admit you have chosen a rare combination for discussion.. cheers...Read More
