I was a big fan and supporter of Peppy's Pointe. That was, until they suddenly decided to close the entire bookmarks program without giving even a week's notice!
I received the following email today:
''I've got some exciting news to share with you today. As you know,
we've been working diligently for the last three months on our
Sister site, Shop Peppy. We finally launched the site just two
weeks ago and I can honestly tell you that we are all favorably
impressed with the numbers. The traffic is through the roof!
Most of this success we attribute to our in-house copywriter
and marketing director, Cindy Sadler. She has taken Peppy's Mom
by the tail and really made it a great success!
Shop Peppy is truly at the right place at the right time. We
see such a tremendous opportunity with Shop Peppy! So much, in
fact, that we've made a decision to immediately start transforming
Peppy's Pointe into a bargain-hunter's paradise. Peppy's Pointe
will still keep the community feel we've all come to know and
love but instead of being a paid-to-surf site, it will soon become
a bargain-shopping site.
Here are the changes we'll be making in the coming days and an
explanation of how these changes will affect you:
1.) Profit pool checks for the last two weeks will be going
out this week, as planned. Be looking for your email notification
in the next day or two.
2.) Peppy's Pointe will no longer pay you to surf your favorites.
This means that we are eliminating the homes, the rooms, and
the links. This change will become effective Friday, March 30th
at 5pm. After this Friday, you will not be able to access your
home or access any favorites you saved to your rooms. Please
use this time to save your favorites to a different location.
3.) We are exploring the possibility of incorporating some type
of ''Get paid to Shop'' component into the new Peppy's Pointe
site. We'll send you updates periodically as decisions are made
in this regard.
We know that this decision comes as a surprise to many of you.
We trust that you will support us as we transition Peppy's Pointe
away from the rapidly declining PTS sector and into the fastest
growing segment of the Internet: consumer-shopping. We apologize
for any inconvenience this change may cause you and thank you
for your effort in helping to build Peppy's Pointe.
Norb Novocin
The W.B.O.W. ''
Exciting news?!? Yeah, I'm always excited when I both a wonderful free service and a nice revenue stream in one fell swoop!
Rumor has it that Norb was fired right after sending this message out. Given the fact that this announcement came without a moment's notice, or even a hint that there was a problem (heck, you can still sign up for the program!), I'll never patronize any company run by these folx again and I recommend you don't either!
