Orkut is a wonderful social networking site. In fact, it has already earned a name for itself with its appropriate features. It is a good site for sharing one’s photographs and watches many good visuals. A number of photographers upload their work on it and often find appreciation.
Orkut is also good, if you are trying to find a mate. Well, often-creative minds try to locate fellow friends. Then there are many who long for lost friends. Orkut does help them to bond again. I have never shared my personal details on it but am always amused to read experiences, opinions of others.
It is really a great outlet to relax .Critics may have their opinions against it. I would rather equate it with fire- some treat it sacred; some treat it as dangerous.

I was using orkut from like age of 16 or 17.
It was a social networking site made by google. OK
But it was nobwhere close to face book.
Of course face book was a newer platform and idea but we have to admit it it was way to better than the orkut thats why millions of people transfered theor intrest and migrated to facebook
Their were scraps instead of messages
The chqt waant a part of chat.
Chat was an extension to the google chat.
The email id was only eligable ro sign in have to be a goole or gmail account.
Communities were the grpups
Yeah but it came with a feature that I like

Orkut was a famous social networking site from google which is not available now. It has several features to connect someone. Orkut was associated with Gmail account and all mail and notifications sent by someone in my Orkut came to my Gmail account.
The user database inside Orkut was good compared to facebook of that time.
Orkut had a cool layout, but it was little bit slow to load. I liked the notification centre of Orkut which showed news feeds like facebook. But sharing files with friends privately was not available in Orkut.
Orkut was the first social site of google which is now totally replaced with Google+ . I started Orkut in 2007 and had a beautiful experience with Orkut.

I really miss this site, it was a great chatting site from Google. I had been using this site since 2009. I don't liked facebook much, Orkut was a famous site of that time. I regularly visited this site to connect my batch mates.
Orkut was a open site for chatting. There was no inbox, one could send his friend a message which was visible to all. I was fun to read gossips between two people.
Uploading picture was cool, there was also like and comment system like facebook but no tagging system was there. There was a notification center at home screen which showed recent updates from my friend
It was a good site with well reputation, best for finding someone. Besides searching a friend by his/her name there was an option to find someone by place.
But I am really sad after the ban of orkut. If I type "orkut.com" in my browser now, google.com opens instade of orkut.
Orkut is one of the best and first Social Networking Website.Basically this is a networking site, you see your friends and their friends and so on . So you can find a lots of friends through old contacts . Its a very good platform to express your thoughts. I used to chat with my friends for a long time.
I feel glad to chat with my friends on Orkut and it was amazing experience.U sent any scrap to anyone. I Know those days can never come but we cannot forget our first experience.

Once upon a time orkut was a king of social networking world and like me there are many peoples who created their first account on orkut and came to the social networking universe. I was also a very addicted fan of Orkut because of their feature and layout of this website.
This social networking website had many features to attract the person who were used to stay on internet for their professional or personal purpose. The features are like you can upload your pics, send massage to friend(this feature is called scrap), online chatting and the best part is you can see the person who visited your profile.
According to me this feature was only in the orkut, even current time there is no social networking website has this kind of feature. But that was past and now facebook has become the king of social network.
Earlier in time, when I was first introduced to internet, I got to know from my friends that Orkut is a social networking site where we can see what our friends are posting on their ID and what is going on in their life. I could not believe at first and created my ID on it. I was very happy to see that all the things told by my friends were real. I was very happy to use this kind of medium for the first time. I soon became orkut addict.
Later on Facebook came in feature and popularity of orkut decreased, but I started missing those cute scraps which we used to send to our friends. Later on the advanced feature of facebook killed orkut but still the memories gave to me by orkut are incredible.

Orkut.com is a social site but now it is old. It is using a lot before the facebook.com . when the facebook is launched then users of orkut is continuously decreases, orkut has many good features that time.
We connected with our friends everywhere by the orkut, on orkut we also make our profile and added the friends into list, we send scrap message to our friends, and upload our photos, and we do comment and like the photos of our friends.
Firstly there is no option for the chatting on the orkut there is only messaging feature but latter they add the chatting features in site, we also change the theme of our profile for mae the look batter. Orkut has good design and it is just bit heavy site, on orkut we also add the music on our profile by the embedded code of the song by this feature when anyone open profile then the song play. That feature I like on the orkut most.

Internet publicly and I was very happy to create my first social networking account on Orkut. I feel glad to chat with my friends on Orkut and it was amazing experience. I used to upload my favorites Videos and wallpaper on Orkut and glad to see my fiends comments. But due to other social networking its popularity decline. It is first networking sites I used in my life. it is very good and best at that time but currently it is forgotten due to other good social sites.
it is started in 1994. I used it first time 2007 now it is forgotten mistake was done by google company because after got famous they don't modified it with time to time and lost the war completely in early 2010. now this sites is completely dead. I logged in last time in 2010 and now forgot even it password and now it is puled off by google. but will remember always a revolutionary sites in social networking in the history.
I liked it feature and interesting feature of who saw your profile and want every site to add this feature it is best feature so that we can see who missed you and seeing your profile.

Well orkut was the first ever Social networking site which I joined in 2005. It was a nice site founded by google in 2004 so that we could do many things like sharing our latest views, posting infos, adding photos incuding creating albums, adding friends, Liking the videos and photos and so on.
It was actually fun and I had over 180 firends and was was much famous with college circle. There was no one who said he did not have a orkut page and the site absoulutely awesome until facebook took over the race in early 2007. But still there wer people including me who wer using both the net site simultaniously. But slowly after the Orkut started to lose and Facebook became very strong slowly killing the Orkut.
Infact myself, I stopped visiting orkut from 2008 completely and only log into Orkut just once an year to check if there was any updates. But I only saw people leaving orkut alone.!
Finally in 2014, the orkut officially brought down its curtains saying a big Goodbye to the legend. The reason was probably, google was on with its new product named "Google+" which is also similar to Facebook and Twitter. But I would say google+ is a failure.
Overall, I would say "Orkut was Legend". I miss it now!
Orkut.com was one of the first social networking sites that I was introduced to. Even though it's taken off now, the name'Orkut' will always take me back to my college days, when one of my friend helped me sign up on the portal and how I was almost addicted to it, like most teenagers are today to Facebook.
It had most of the basic options that Facebook offers, mainly updating photos and status, uploading images, messaging, chatting, and posting on walls. The posts on walls were known as scraps and the wall was referred to as scrapbook. I am not quite sure if people people remember, but it had an amazing feature known as testimonials, where friends could pour their hearts and write testimonials. This is something that even Facebook doesn't offer.
However, with the gaining popularity of Facebook and it's great UI, Orkut.com slowly and gradually lost its fame and was finally doomed.
Google Orkut created by Orkut Büyükkökten is the father of social networking sites. I remember being addicted to it until facebook was born. It allowed me to get in touch with various people who had lost in the mist of time .It had great User Interface and numerous features that will me missed including Testimonials, Crush List, Who viewed your profile etc.
Although Google has shutdown Orkut now, But it will forever remain in the list of great social networking sites.
Orkut, all of us has forgotten this social networking site launched by google, but this is the first social networking site which has make people crazy. Orkut with time loses people interest and with facebook launch it completely gone out of business.
But we have to give credit to Orkut which has make this social networking a rage amoung the youths. I remember it was great excitement sending friend request, online chat, uploading pictures. Truly a superb experience it was. I hope Orkut had done some changes and updated its site, might be today it can be a big competitor to facebook.
Orkut was the first social networking site. I still remember those days of my college in which we were not allowed to open orkut in our lab period but we all did so secretary. It was the first time when I made friend online.
In those days it was a very unique and interesting things to all of us and after college it kept us connected. Through it sharing videos and snap was so easy and it was the best place to keep memories alive.
