I am a die hard Star Plus fan an watch absolutely all programs on it........Unfortunately Star Plus programs are linked to this absolutely worthless site called Indya.com.

What irritates me is that, although they have a suddestions box, when you try to send any suggestion or comment it goes to "Page does not exist mode". The site has only updated it's new serials, but the old serials story nor character updates haven't been done for ages.

e, g The program Saarrthi which relays in the noon, has lot of changes in the story as well as charcters playing it....They haven't done any updates on it and the same old faces are being shown on the site.

Moreover, when a site is dealing with serials, it should also make it a point to load data on the serial actors and actresses, their real names as well as a message board for the stars as well as comments on the latest episode (or else how will the storyline improve without taking the viewers opinion..)

Many a times, we ardent viewers find a flaw or missing link in the serials and would like to point it out to them as the directors or script writers have made major blunders by not keeping the original story in mind....but of no use.....inspite of this site being Star Plus official site.

(e.g......In Kyunki.......KT used to refer to Eklavya as Eklavya Bhayya in the very beginning, but today he's her saiyyan!!!!....was that intentionally done to show the rich culture of india or did the script writer forget about it!!!)

IF THEY DO NOT NEED ANY SUGGESTIONS.....then INDYA.com shud delete their suggestions button as well as their complaint e-mail id......both of which do not exist...

STAR PLUS people....There are better sites to go official with you....WHY INDYA.com????

I could still remb this web site which was in boom at the time of dot com startup boom people used to create there email id either at yahoo, hotmail or at indya and things were happening fine... but I have no idea what happen that indya.com was all of sudden sold to Ruport Mudroch's Star Network and then the things change the colors the look, the view and etc etc.. today Indya.com stands just yet another webiste which promotes Star network...

sounds crazy's isn't it but thats true.. have a look on the section it has tones of section but they are again a link to yet another websites like broad band goes to hathway and so on and so forth.. it does not seems to be that Indya.com which it used to be before totally dedicted to Star TV I would say its more of promotion to them.. with basically links put together and the website is running!!!!.

Comm'on this kinda site could be created, published and maintained by a school going kid.. whatz a big deal after all ur competing with rediff, yahoo.co.in, msn.co.in I would say even ndtv and they are much better.. should there be a reason why should I go for indya.com why not for other websites????

Which I think Indya's guys have to think about it!!!! before indya.com goes all the way down like indiainfoline.com... do u mb that!!!

It was a mediocre site from the beginning.

It was a sure copycat of many sites. The graphic content and the page design was good to an extent. They presumed that every thing about India is only films.

The email service is the worst experience I ever had. I lost my content 3 times before they were smart enough to call it a day and shut the shop.

As I was one of the early members, I had an active account and one fine day they pulled the plug. Oh well, one less thing to worry about.

They should have made a good job fighting the troubled waters with tough competition. I am sure it will be an ''existing'' portal.

Nothing more to add. There are excellent sites available for everyone.

I request all not to keep ur important emails in such sites like indya.com and such. there is no guarantee that ur mail will remain tomm. I have lost some of my important mails at indya.com when there changed the layout. I have mail them many times but no reply. I have lost important mail from companies and most importantly personal mails. as of now most the big email providers are free. I expect a time where they will be becomed paid like usa.net. plz be ready to pay for the email services rather than using a unguaranteed site. it may be impossible to get ur mails back.

The Shame

It’s a Sunday morning. I pick up Times Of India, and I am shocked to see the change of my country from India to Indya. It was shame on we Indians that nothing was done to stop Indya.com for playing with the prestige of our country.

The site should be either banned or should apologize to the people of India for the ad given on Times Of India when they went live..

Something about the Site.

Whatever Amrita has written about Indya.com is true. Indya.com SUCKS!

Like most of the Indian sites apart from Fabmart and Rediff, Indya.com takes ages to download.

The site as is the same class as indiatimes.com. The design and interface sucks with nothing unique to boost about. On the first look one gets the feeling of bad copy of rediff.com. The only difference from rediff is the index page gets Auto refresh after few minutes. But that’s not big deal, how much time does it takes to refresh a page from our own browser? The Colour Scheme is horrible they are using Black Colour on the bottom of the page to show link for “about us” and other things

The News section is also copied directly from Rediff.

More than half of the index page is covered by the news from Bollywood. There are number of contest on the site though I have never won a single contest till date.

The email is worst I have come across. It the slowest.

My request to all the MS members behave like true Indians and avoid Indya.com as long as they don’t change the name.

Indya.com is a dumb portal. I emphasize DUMB. Please do not visit the portal after reading my review.

Indya.com was promoted by a smart opportunist company called Microland, which some analyst thought was the best IT company born in India. Microland's founder Pradeep Kar, could not bear that newcomers such as rediff.com and sify.com could overtake him. It hurt his ego. This guy has a big wallet, so in April 2000 he thought his Big Fat Wallet can help him launch a portal that would beat rediff.com

They launched the portal in April 2000 by buying the COMPLETE FRONT PAGE of most major newspapers in India. The headline read India changes it's name to Indya.com (sic) Indya.com spent more than $4 million in their launch campaign but as Master Card says, there are somethings which Money can't buy! And Indya.com could never even come close to the average Tom Dick Harry site, forget big portals.

What is Indya.com?

I should rephrase that: What WAS Indya.com

According to their CEO, Sanjay Lulla (I call him Lallu which is a slang meaning dumb! ''indya.com, the ultimate Internet home for India is poised to trigger the fast & vast growth the Indian economy is about to undergo ...'' there goes their ego. The CEO of Indya.com has no clue of how the IT industry works. He thought he could use his ad-industry background and win the portal race in the country by making a big brand using the creative satements of his stupid colleagues.

In reality, Indya.com achieved nothing. They could never finalize even the colour scheme for their website. Every 20 days they changed the index page. Finally to hide their goofy designs, they announced that their colour schemes are dynamic! Big Joke!

Not a single channel of Indya.com was functional. Finally they launched their e-campus channel. Desperately trying to woo the student users. Students today are more intelligent than Lallu. They never visited this new channel.

Management:

Lallu brought in Neeti Chopra, to make deals with leading companies worldwide in order to complement and enrich the services and channels indya.com already offers while catering to our user's 24x7 needs.'' She is fit to be a good copy-writer I think. She can write good speeches, that's it. She gives dumb interviews in magazines such as A&M etc., trying to program your mind to believe that indya.com is the best.

CEO, Lallu, is a lallu, nothing more can be said about him.

I think the only deal they were successful in was the acquisition of net2travel.com

Rajiv Vij, is a very dynamic man. I think Lallu should bring in more people like him. Net2travel is really bringing some money for indya.com Most of Neeti and Lallu's strategies are burning cash.

Current Position:

Indya.com is dying. Arun Katiyar recently laid off 75 employees. Star TV one of the investor in indya.com is slowly withdrawing support to Indya.com That reminds me, portals such as Baazee.com and Indya.com are a big drain on Star TV. Market gossip has that Star will acquire Indya.com and integrate baazee...both portals built on hype.

My take on Indya.com

I say stay away from it. It's content is never updated. News is stale at time. Articles and write-ups have no relevance to user interests and passions. Colour scheme and pages are badly mismanaged. No uniformity and coherence in two pages. Speed is slow. Above all, they have maligned and ridiculed the name of my motherland, INDIA.

We learn something new and forget something, memories are here to cherish and some we forget.Well this is the game of life and life has to roll on...

India a motherland for many and place loved my many and I think there is not particular word to describe it as a whole.

But putting it in simple words I will call it ''BEAUTIFUL''.

Starting with the portal indya.com

A brand new day and a new brand is released I open up my newspaper to see a 2 page full ad in th Time of India Paper.

Can't remember those pictures but the name indya.com clearly left a mark on the mind.Not only mine but everybody.

As many did I too grabbed up my chair dialed my way out and logged in to check out this brand new portal.

But wait....This was a portal worth enough to spend 2 page AD worth lakhs.Oh Hell what a waste of money.

But as day go on and there are changes going on in this world, this portal also had something to change.

They changed their design and the navigation style.Well this is not a sign on a wise web master and frequent design changes are not good.I told them but then who listens up.

I changed on and thought of going down and deep into the portal and put my search glasses on to just find out why should anyone visit this portal named indya.com.

The only on reason found out only suiting for the web master was that I found that this was there gateway to get some cool design and navigation.

Channels,Content, section....name them anything

Well indya.com seem to have a lot of channels or lets call it section and some of them are worth visiting like eform section , but many section and just hosted up by joining other sites ,like the cricket section etc...

So here is one minus point about the section of indya.com.A section to check out is the music section and the cinemaa section which seem to have quite some useful information about them.

Well they host up content in this section and if you are lucky you might win something.

Little left....no right...adjust the angle

Well looking at this portal from all the angle, I mean the award part of it, I think this portal does not really deserve a awards.

I keep the making of banner part aside when I say this.As there banner are really cool, the one which they have made up for there site.That rocks!!.

Well the thing that matter for a site to deserve award is good design, neat navigation and good customer support.

Lets check all this point and discuss over a cup of bytes...

Design of time is under constant changes and when you think you are familiar with the design, there's a change.

But the design are all good.But the question is ''does design really matter'' ?? Well everyone has different opinion and everyone has his own strike.

Navigation of the site is really simple and the site seems very easy to navigate as the top navigation bars really helps you to navigate through different pages.

But the starting or the index page always has a different navigation style.So let put the navigation in the 50-50 category.

Customers support are they good...???

Well they seem to be, when you send them a feedback they do have a quick response(after one day that is), and talking of rest of the part.I have still not tried it.

Well they do deserve 25% mark up.

Search...Search...Dog wake up...

Well indya.com has a search engine, really check it out it is listed under the section category.

Well talking about searching at indya.com, it's the same you search on indya.com or at google.com you get the same results.

But I prefer to search at google for the speed and good result with neat results.So why search at indya.com instead..hai koie jawaab(have a answer).

Recently the Star TV india has tied up with indya.com to feature some part of their site and host it up in the near future.

E-mailing your way out?Wait!!!

indya.com has hosted up their email service where people can get their own yourname@indya.com email address.

But I find no reason to host my email address at indya.com and I feel no one should.The common drawback are no pop3 facility,slow server and many other...

They have their email section not made by themselves but taken their code from commtouch.indiatimes also was tied up with commtouch to host their email back before the new version.

Slow email service and many other such thing make one not to choose their service.I would advice you to try indiainfo.com either if you are looking to host your email on a Indian site.

Looking to chat...have a try with them

Bored with the chat ads of indya.com on TV.Well if yes, do log on and try their chat.They have some good features, but again speed does matter.But their chat room are decent one with someone always looking at your text and will put you out if using bad words.

Netiquette do matter guys...Well they are well on this stuff.

I was really bored by the whole load up time and sent them feedback to improve their speed and their reply was that they are trying to do this and have increased their speed in Europe and America.

Well indya.com so they should first focus on improving their speed in India right.

Conclusion

Had a hard time writing on this portal named indya.com which say on putting the whole world in one portal.With FAQ's printed and other stuff neatly arranged for beginners and advanced user this site had it all.

Directories listed and other stuff needed for net surfers, this site definetly lacked two thing speed and customers support.Matters printed were all good and the section were little easy to navigate.

Recently tied up with netvarsity.com and vindia.com this site think of putting it's mark in the minds of youth.But the question still remains is that will they be able to??

Recently interviewed a team unit of indya.com said that they might not be able to continue this site for not more than 3 years.

So the question now comes to the people side, that should they visit this site or not?

Beginners should get their fundas clear by checking their netfunda section and other section might be visited if you have time or else you can pick some other site which focuses on the topic you want.

The one thing I like is their NEWS channel, which is constantly updated.

Their color combination is also very bad and bright colours really make the eye balls small.

Indya.com is the funniest thing I have ever seen on the net. starting from it's stupid color combination to its sections.It has nothing to do with india or indianness or it's people.every time I see the site I wonder how they are able to survive.. then some one told me that they have got lots of funds from star tv and rupert murdhok etc..

A site should be able to sustain itself thats what I feel. I like rediff.com. so simple yet so elegant. it has got every thing with regard to content. But they have never gone for those flash images and other flourescent colors etc. they have used the default font plus usual blue and red colors. every day morning the first site I visit is rediff.

For guys at indya plz study rediff u will get some input. you have spent so much money into this. atleast spent some time for this also

Internet revolves around concept and ideas. The person with better gets clicked. Most of the dotcoms who are going to survive in India are going to be the company with both virtual and real presence (In Internet terminology Brick and Mortar).

Just putting huge amount money is of no use. The amounts pumped in should be used in every aspect of the company whether it is the content , or advertising or customer service.

As I have the background of relationships and customer service, for me to a company to survive customer service is most important.

Every one remembers the front page of Advertisement in the Times of India by Microland supported and financed Indya.com. Could you believe that some one could come up with the idea like that? Imagine the amount of money charged by the money greedy TOI of that advertisement.

Indya.com is nothing different from any other portals like rediff or the TOI managed stupid site Indiatimes.com. Infact I couldn’t digest the front-page advertisement given by Indya.com. I still can’t figure out how did Indiatimes stop itself from keeping quiet. (They have to ,TOI must have got a bomb of advertising money from that which could be used for Indiatimes)

“ So you can believe that put a huge amount of money in the table of TOI and they can do anything”

Jasubhai managed Zdnetindia.com (Zdnet.com or Ziff Davis) definitely must be taking money to give results of putting Roltanet as No 1 and putting Indiatimes and Indya as the leader.

Indya.com doesn’t have anything to boast of, they have a very slow Email Service, Pathetic Chat rooms, so stupid sections like singles club etc. I doubt anyone would go to the site just for the sake of name. Customers have become really smart now days, they know were to go and what to do (Some extent thanks to sites like mouthshut.com). Indya and Indiatimes are the 2 sites whenever I go, get Http errors.

They are using google for doing the searches. The worst part is whenever you click any of the link , a separate window opens. Even for small things you will have a separate windows. That’s ridiculous.

Now comes my favourite part, Customer Service.

I had approached Indya.com and was interacting with one of the Senior Lady named Rajushree Shetty and I wanted to approach them for customer service and that lady made me call up at least 10 times and then some how I got appointment and when I reached Bl’ore from Mumbai, I got to know that she has gone to Delhi for some conference. That was the most pathetic display of an Unprofessional behaviour.

Then after 2 days, the little patience, which was left, I called her up again; I got to know that she left the organisation. Now..Now…when I had been to the office, they could have told me that, so I could have met the next person responsible. But as usual like most dotcoms , they failed miserably.

These companies may not survive for long, because just spending huge amount on advertising doesn’t help, they need to build the rapo with public and the customer.

I believe that Indya.com is the way Indian youth percieves the country today. indya.com represents the youth of the day and their behaviour. the ads I believe depict the brand image perfectly.

The content is good, and the coverage is also pretty decent. The depth of the content is also very good. the video and audio tapes on the portal are also good.

I will put it as a horizontal portal targetted at a specific audience, but cannot term it as a vertical one.

Arre yaar, this site is a portal just like yahoo but they have tried to attach an indian flavour to all they have done. Its launch was really mega, with the front page of the times of india having the advertisement in big fonts(infact as far as I remember, thay had used a cover page for times of india)

The site is nothing compared to rediff and indiatimes but the ecampus section is really good!

NOt much in the download section though, except a few screensavers....
