As the name suggests, the website is all about how stuffs work. It is an ideal site for people with inquisitive mind, people who get curious and wish to know everything that is there to know about a particular thing. Specially the'how' bit of it.

On the homepage the main categories are clearly mentioned. Categories are: Adventure, Animals, Auto, Culture, Entertainment, Health, Money, Lifestyle, Video and few more. I find this site to be superbly informative and creative. People of all age groups can find the information on this site to be useful. You can follow this site on different social media platforms.

Personally I find the videos to be extremely useful and helpful. Even during school days I used to refer to this site. Information can never get old fashioned. This site offers a great platform for learners across the globe.

Who does not love a dose of trivia? More than interesting if it is on your favourite topics.

Howstuffworks has it all, you name the subject it is there. This award winning educational website covers almost everything under the sun for all ages in an easy to understand language. This happens to be the venture of Discovery channel and has certainly build upon its reputation as a repository of knowledge.

Whether you are doing some research yourself or helping your kids or siblings with their project work, it will help. Even in touchy subjects like Religion, Culture and Sexual Education, this site comes of as a wonderful resource as it can even teach little children in an age appropriate manner.

I came across this site in 2012 when my brother started helping me with one of my projects and asked me to refer this site for some details, Little did I know that I would be hooked to this site since then. Its actually a blessing for those people who feel that Indian education standards have fallen to an abysmally low level.

Look out for those sponsored content, as it is not so good to be on the site of that caliber

Keep Browsing, learning and enjoying! Hail curiosity!

Tell me how!!!
Sep 01, 2012 09:23 AM

Who is the first President of Brazil? Who is the first to have sailed the earth around? How did Henry VIII actually die? Who exactly was Mary magdalene? Do Google and Apple have secrets?

I'm not going to answer these questions . You want answers; you can have them at how stuff works. A great initiative by Discovery channel, or as I call it " A Pandora's box of knowledge". Ask any question you want, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

I stumbled upon this site way back in 2009 when I was working on a certain project during my Second Year of Engineering. Even before that the site was creating a lot of buzz around. For my project , I wanted to tweak a certain software. I searched at many places , there were answers ,but none of them satisfied me. A friend of mine suggested me to visit this awesome site. And man!! didn't it give me exactly what I wanted. Plus , it gave a lot more.

The great thing about this website is that the articles in it are written by Subject matter experts, who are well known in their respective fields. But other wiki sites are written and edited by commoners. I'm not saying that the wikis are not reliable, but considering that you'd rather be guided by experts , how stuff works is a great place to be. And being a Discovery channel initiative, it it more likely to find great multimedia coverage from the channel itself unlike the wikis. The information provided is much more detailed and in a lucid manner that can be digested by a layman. On top of that the content is timely and the standard of compliance is immaculate. Plus there are quizzes, shows and games that can get you addicted.

I am huge fan of the site and I would like all of the readers hungry for knowledge to give it a visit. YOU'LL LIKE IT .After all its free advice. No wait, Its free and great advice . Happy surfing guys!!!

HSW - info Ocean
Nov 07, 2006 02:40 PM

Four years back, my google search for ‘how solar cell works’ ended up in https://howstuffworks.com. Once the site loaded the next key stroke was Ctrl+D - since then HSW is in my favorite list in IE.

Generally when a user googles for contents or info he/she scans a site for less than 4 sec within which users expect to get the info or content he/she wants else skips to next site due to abundant sites on the web. But, HSW is one of the sites that provide information or contents in and out.

Want to freak out with tons of info on a given subject, just scan through HSW and pour the info in front of others, you will be seen as a genius - not everyone can be a subject matter expert in all fields but you can be so with the help of HSW - since I am trying to be so ;-). 10x to HWS.

The most important aspect in a website is its content - navigation - categorization - bread gram.

Most of the site fails in either one this feature. But HSW passes in all the four and on top of that it has a fabulous and ingenious illustration and diagram that makes it separate from a standard site.

And we can very well call this site as an extraordinary site.

Example - I own a four wheeler (car). Each time I take to service, the language of service center guys was like Greek and Latin to me. It was then I started to take look in HSW on ‘how car works’ ‘how clutch works’ ‘how car cooling system work’ ‘ how gear works’ ‘how break works’ ‘how power steering works’ and much more about cars - now I really understand what the service guys have bluffed to me and I have just nodded ok ok to them. BUT NOT ANY MORE.

Try this site once and you will really feel that you have spent a quality time.

Remember we are in information era and people with knowledge and information will be respected more than normal people.

And HSW is one of the sites that provide the required information.

This is Must-have in your favorites
Aug 26, 2005 06:03 PM

We all know what is googling?? But I don't know how many of us knows how it works? One day I tried to search for Google in google itself. From the results, I got one great link howstuffworks.com

My younger sister used to ask about rainbow, my cousin used to ask about weapons and my father used to ask about share markets. Whenever I knuckle my fingers, my mother used to shout on me, though she didn't know whether it is harmful or not, neither did I. I was not that enthu to search in google, and going through thousands of links. But this howstuffworks.com made all this questions like peanuts.

If you have a hunger for knowlege or you always ask why, how then, no matter what is your age, this is the site for you. It explains every damn thing on this earth (universe rather) from needle to Missile technology; from yr toilet to Future Force Warriors in a very simple yet interesting and in adequate details.

Just see the main categories of the topic:

  1. Auto

  2. Science

  3. Health

  4. Entertainment

  5. People

  6. Computer

  7. Electronics

  8. Home

  9. Money

10.Travel

Each category contains number of topics. Think of anything surrounding you, want to know how it works, go to the site and search for it. It's very unlikely that you would be disappointed.

I am not going to write much here. You have to visit the site to check how good it is.

So next time whoever asks you about whatsoever just remember one site howstuffworks.com and I am sure you would be successful to leave your impression on others.

Wish you Browsing full of knowledge.

God Bless you all

I came across a variety of subjects and principle behind there working. Right from how an atom bomb works to simple principles of archmedies, it explains these happening in brief. There are variety of sections to surf and once u get u r stuff there are so many links further to assist u that makes it the site worth it weight in gold.the phenomenons are explained with the help of diagrams and animations. So I would recommend this site for any youngster who is curious to know how a stringer missile works or how F-16 works!I finally got a lot of stuff for my paper presentation from this site.

ENLIGHTENMENT!
Jan 05, 2005 09:29 PM

Enlightenment!~ That's exactly what this site is meant to do!!

w w w . h o w s t u f f w o r k s . c o m

HOW I FOUND THIS SITE?

We had a professor for the subject of CO (Computer Organisation) whose lectures were a on-off slumber drill. I'd wake up in certain intervals either to answer my Roll call (Hey! Attendance really mattered coz I had run out of dummy family representative to come to my help in case of the defaulter list!!) and sometimes because the professor wud end up triggering a debate which the smarties carried on just to escape his meaningless lectures on RAm & ROM.

I always wondered why he took the pains to walk into the class and read his notes to us!! Well, there's just one thing that stopped me from cursing this professor. it was this site :) How?? Well, that's coz when confronted with questions about a topic that he was trying to dictate about, the professor simply wrote down http://www.howstuffworks.com on the board and said in a cool tone, ''See for urself!'' Curiosity lured me to this site and since then this site has been my saviour from a 1000 and 1 questions I come up with about anything and everything.

ABOUT THIS SITE:

This is a dynamic site and can be used by you if you fall in even one of the following categories:

Student (any age group...I mean it)

Professor (now I know where my CO professor got those printed notes from)

A Vendor or buyer

Just an inquisitive soul (like me :D )

The Look:

The homepage shows their Mascot which is a grinning face with a globe housed in his head. This is a self-explanatory logo for this site and I vouch for that from my experiences with it. It is a very user-friendly site. The best part is usually the homepage which is always update with links to loads of information on the most current STUFF that's Hot & Happening.

Anything from a childish question of-

How grass grows? to a devilish mind's curiosity on How Lock-picking works?;) to the latest one being How Tsunamis Work? to a technial computer geeks query on How webservers work?.

There is a space at the top right corner of this homepage that provides us the space to ask our own questions & Search howstuffworks & the WEB for. Type in your question and Voila! U have a series of links related to ur question. Till date this site has never failed me to get me loads and loads of information to satisfy my quest for answers!

The homepage has a dynamic link that shows ''TODAY's Stuff'' & ''Coming Up Stuff'' in this site.

Apart from this, there are links which tell you that the site stores the informations according to categories:

^Computer Stuff

^Auto Stuff

^Electronics Stuff

^Science Stuff

^Home Stuff

^Stuffo

^Health Stuff

^Money Stuff

^Travel Stuff

^People Stuff

Stuffo is for anything and everything from the AI (Artificial Intelligence) & gaming World

If u can't think of a question initially then, just click on this site and one glance through this page and I'm sure U'll find yourself clicking on at least one link coz U suddenly find that U desperately want to know the answer!!

THE INFORMATION PROVIDED:

High Quality--> Complete--> Lucid language--> extensively explained--> easy to understand--> wonderful illutrations--> very useful links!

That just sums up the characteristics of each page that U click on this site for your answers. The illustrations may be 2-D or 3-D, depending on the necessity to drive home the point.

They have an option to provide the same information in Printable Version (minus the animated images), to subscribe Newsletters for that particular STUFF, and, even SHOP or COMPARE PRICES of that stuff.

For EXAMPLE:

If the STUFF that I'm looking for is: How Hair Replacement Works? then the Table of Contents shows links to pages for knowing:

? Introduction to How Hair Replacement Works

? How Does Hair Grow?

? What Causes Hair Loss?

? Drugs and Ointments

? Wigs and Hairpieces

? Am I a Good Candidate for Hair Replacement?

? Hair Transplantation

? Other Surgical Techniques

? How Do I Find the Right Surgeon?

? How Do I Know Which Procedure is Right for Me?

? New Research

? Lots More Information

? Shop or Compare Prices

All this and more along with some cool illustrations!

This is just one of the 1000000s of examples. U think I'm exaggerating? Then, see for yourself coz I'm still to exhaust this site of all the How questions and each time I just find that there are more questions here than I could ever imagine!!

At the end of it The reader can even RATE THE ARTICLE!

So, got questions? Wanna know some answers? Ask me How??? lol! No! Go ask http://www. HOWSTUFFWORKS.com

Learn More..........

If you've ever wondered how things work, the simple explanations here may help.

This site is very American, but as a practical approach to technology it's great fun. A scientist called Marshall Brain (yes really !!! ) explains everyday stuff that we take for granted - how toilets and toasters work, when and how we'll have hoverboards, and so on. It's aimed at kids, presumably, but there's something here for anyone who isn't a science graduate.

Your refrigerator, the stock market, Boolean logic, your immune system, currency, lock picking, tooth whitening, digital cameras, mistletoe, Euro, machine guns, DVS's, The Maybach, slot machines, cell phones, engines, operating systems........ howstuffworks.com explains them all, whether you're doing homework or just browsing for fun.

Its simple mission is to teach people how things work in the world.

SECTIONS

~ Computer Stuff

~ Auto Stuff

~ Electronic Stuff

~ Science Stuff

~ Home Stuff

~ Health Stuff

~ Money Stuff

~ Travel Stuff

~ People Stuff

~ Stuffo

This basically inlcudes stuff bout movies and games. ( entertainment industry )

The site has something for everyone........... Very helpful for students.

As testament to its value and accuracy, this site won more than 20 awards, including the 1998 “Cool Site of the Year”.

The creator ( Marshall Brain....as far as I can tell ) has presented a dynamic/interactive/scripted Web site par excellence. But another part of the explanation is that Brain has nothing to prove in the technology stakes. With all that programming expertise, he doesn't feel challenged to create fancy, inscrutable, cutting-edge interfaces. He clearly feels perfectly free to pour all of his considerable passion into communicating ideas well.

That's the Brain recipe: not much interface, lots of content. How Stuff Works's ratio of content to interface ranks among the lowest anywhere on the Web.

Brain depends upon readers’ questions and the answers contributed by experts, for the site content.

It is also enabled with a search engine so that you get the stuff you want........quick !

This site will give some good exercise to those grey cells.............DROP IN Sometime.

This is one cool site worth visiting !!!!!!!!

SpellinG BhooL GayA India
Do U KnoW HoW U WorK?
Oct 17, 2004 03:46 PM

Everytime I need some technical information for my Electronics and/or Computer Stuff I log on to the Internet and type “Howstuffworks.com” in the address bar. The reason follows:

Introduction

Howstuffworks.com is a website that has the working of nearly everything that we have today in this world. Be it machines, computers, weapons etc. it has everything neatly explained. I came across this website about 3 years back and I m very much thankful to Google which led me to this website.

The Website:

O.K suppose u have some project work on say RAM i.e. Computer Memory. What u should do is log-on to internet, type https://howstuffworks.com and search for How RAM works and viola as a magician would turn his magic wand u have a whole lot of 5-6 pages of information with working examples (created in Flash) about RAM.

The homepage is neatly organized with a Searchbar at the top. Below it we have the various categories of related information about which I will write later. Then there is a particular topic about how it works as Today @ Howstuffworks. Next to it have various products from different categories and their working. Clicking on them will individually open their windows.

At the middle of the homepage we have different questions from different categories. And many different search options which are named as Popular Searches. Just key-in the product on which u want info. And they will have it for u (If the website has the working of the product.)

For all those who are first time loggers HWS has its own help option of guiding you to its website which is a very innovative way of helping newbie’s. Although how that service I don’t know coz I haven’t used it anytime.

Various Categories:

There are in all 10 categories at HWS which are listed below:

Each and everything about the category cannot be mentioned as it would make my rvu too lengthy and hence I will only give the names of the categories and a tad of information about them.

Computer Stuff: Here categories like Hardware, Software, Peripherals, Short Stuff, Internet etc are present. Each of them has their individual sub-sections and ofcourse the search option which would search only computer related stuff from the website and as well the web. As the Homepage a new topic is explained everyday. Here we can also find the buying options of various categories from the advertisers from which HWS gets its royalty of maintaining the website for us.

Auto Stuff: Contains sub-categories like Cars, Automatic transmission, Car engines, Hyrbid Cars etc having their own sub-sections along with the subject related search engine and the top subjects.

Electronics stuff: Contains sub-categories named Building Blocks, Computers, Gadgets, Home-theatres, short stuff and Telecommunications.

Science Stuff: Contains sub-categories named Earth Science, Engineering, Life Science, Military Science, Physical Science, Space, Supernatural sciences.

Home stuff: Contains sub-categories named Food, Home appliances, Home improvement, Home office, Home security, In the yard and Short Stuff.

Entertainment Stuff: Contains sub-categories named Arts, Games, Movies, Music, Sports, Television, Toys and Short Stuff.

Health Stuff: Contains sub-categories named Diseases and Conditions, Drugs, Fitness, Health Care, Nutrition, The Body and Short stuff.

Money Stuff: Contains sub-categories like Business, Credit and Debt, Economics, Financial Planning, Luxury Items, Shopping and Short Stuff.

Travel Stuff: Contains sub-categories named Destinations, Planning, Transportation, Safety, Traveler gadgets and Short Stuff.

People Stuff: Contains sub-categories named Culture, Government, Goodwill, Public Works and Short Stuff.

These are 10 categories which are present for access at HWS. Mind you there are various divisions in these categories themselves. Each of the category page is of different colour to make it seem diverse from one other which my opinion doesn’t make any difference.

A Shortcut: Suppose u want to find some information on something in the Computer field, then instead of typing the homepage address http://www.howstuffworks.com u can directly type computer.howstuffworks.comand request for the required information which will save ur time.

Conclusion:

In the end I would like to tell you that this website is a very useful learning resource for people of all ages. Even if u don’t need any particular information u can red the information present on this website and increase ur knowledge about the latest trends because the information present in this website is the latest.

Technology Demystified
Aug 11, 2004 11:47 AM

Man had undergone thousands of years of civilization before he reached this point in the history of time. Man, the creator of technology never makes public the creator's manual but there is relief.

We have known of technology the what, when, why but never really looked into the ?how?? (At least not me). Technology serves up its offering and we accept it, no questions asked. I was once going thru this site a long time ago and ever since this site never ceases to amaze me. It?s a perfect Food for thought.

?howstuffworks.com? really informs us about How Stuff works. Here ?stuff? can be interpreted anything from computers to currency to carbs or anything under the sun. When you are looking for answers you can search the whole WWW or just this site.

The website has different sections. They are computer Stuff, Auto stuff, electronics stuff, Home stuff, health stuff, money stuff etc..

Computer Stuff: Did you know how microprocessor works? If not, you can. This Knowledge is not limited to the computer or electronics grads. Other such examples under this section include How do computer viruses work? How Removable storage works?etc.

Surround systems functioning, photocopiers, CD writers are some examples of Working of Electronics stuff. Cloning, Nuclear reaction, lasers etc are science stuff.

My favorite is the Health stuff though I am not a health buff. I would love to know about the inner working of the human body. This section contains the material on Organ transplantation, Botox , Diets , Nicotine , medicinal values of rain forest?s. etc. Even about United Nations, GPS?etc

If you are intrigued by anything the answer is here.

Sometimes some topics can fall under a different category than you might think. The pages are short under each product. But there are drop down boxes too. So You could jump directly to that page. I normally open the printable version so that I can get everything on the same page.

Some of the topics are not useful or it may be it depends on perspective. I don?t know why anyone would want to know how doughnuts work.

Some sections advertise products under a particular section.we can just choose to ignore it. The topics under money stuff seem to be helpful only to Americans.

All in all, a very useful website.

''Yes it works''
Jan 29, 2004 08:27 PM

Howstuffworks.com By marshall brain is a nice resource for Info-Seekers who wants to know how things works. Well finding such resources over the internet is not so easy, but there are many resources we never discovered yet. At the end of review, I will also tell you about other alternative.

I found HSW site in February 2001 and since then I am surfing this site. I don't know when HSW started but I bet you since start they definitly recieved tons of hits on their homepage. They arranged the information in terms of categaries on the front page. Information is updated Weekly and site navigation is also changed in some regualr interavls.

Searching within the site is sometimes so diffcult as they added sprint search engine results to thier search navigation and those search results some times drives you away from the site. But following the main navigation and looking for your topic is easy with left hand side links. Left side Navigational links are categaries, Top subjects, Explore stuff etc. Computer Categaries link is subdevided into hardaware, internet, shortstuff, software, peripherals etc. Like this other topics are subdevided. Weekly top subjects are chosen and put on the main page of the site. Printable version of the topic is also provided with link at the begining of the article.

List of articles links are also maintained everyday. Quality of the information on this site is top notch. At the end Navigation for this site is excellent. This was about the arrangement of the site but what about the privacy for surfers?

Yes some times they show some pop-up banners on their site which are sometimes ad of their own page while sometimes they take you to some other sites. And newsletter service featured on their site is free and fills up your email with monthly discount ads. We can't call it as spam but it is definitely irritating.

Forum of this site is excellent get-together for the like-minded people who are building internet a better place with thier sites. On this forum some people post variety of good links which are enough for us To know a typical topic in depth. Ask your questions on this forum and some one will reply positively. Jerks? Yes there are jerks on every message board on internet and this forum is also not 100% jerk free. Please keep in mind that jerks are humans so ignore their replies. Moderators will take care of them so you dont have to do anything.

Top articles like ''How C programming works and How Hard disk works'' are good to read before joining any institutuion to learn about it. This will help you learn fast.

This site is excellent if you are buying encyclopedia like britanica and encarta just To know ''How c programming or Toaster works''.

At last the Alternatives:-

Well HSW is not 100% free they kept some of the information to use in CD-ROM. And so some additional information will not available on thier site. So you have to buy the CD. If you can't afford this then point your browser to the

https://wikipedia.org, which is 100% free-open content, publicaly usable databse of information and run with the help of users like us who put thier content for this encyclopedia.

I will request Star writers on this site to contribute to this encyclopedia so this resource will provide an alternative to the restricted encyclopedia that corporations like encarta, worldbook, britannica writes.

To end up with HSW, it is a nice resource for information. Surf this site once a month to let your brain eat info-cerals.:-)

Stuffy things don't work ..but this Site does !!!
Jan 09, 2004 06:44 PM

One morning my nephew came to me and asked me Linky Unku(I don't look like an uncle yet ..but my sister insists him to call me that !!! ) will a person be able to land safely if theres a big holle in the parachute ? He was playing with a spiderman toy and was wondering what would spiderman do when he is out of web ..funny thought..

Ohmy ..how did he suppose I can answer that..I have hardly seen a full sized Parachute rest aside using one ..and I am not a dare-devil either to try that out ..

However to put his mind at easy and mine too ..I decided to contact the Oracle just like Neo in Matrix..

I knew the answer must be somewhere on the net but where ... I logged in.

Google would just drop me in a vast ocean and I would drift to where the waves would take me ...I am poor at surfing..and I swim only with a float.

when finally I visited https://howstuffworks.com

Thats the site I am about to review..

Its a very good and professionally built site..thanx to Marshall Brain

No sooner that you enter the site ..you will get a popup ..don't close it in haste ..

(I did that once assuming it to be some adverisment claiming ''U have been selected blah blah blah'')..

but this popup will explain to you what the sites all about.

so what am I doing here...lolz...

Anyway go with the walk through and this popup will introduce you to HowStuffWorks web site and teach you how to find what you're looking for quickly and easily.

Basically the site is split into nine separate sites - or channels..I don't want to elaborate on them ..you can find that out.its well, but not too much documented.

Channels are further sub divided in subchannels..good they divided ..

and on each channel everyweek, there is a different featured article..with good images tooo..I like pictures..

Know what for those of the Koi-Mil-gaya or the ET types ...theres a sub channel on Aliens in the Science channel

but it says How Alines Might Work ..he he...

U can really learn from something well as defined as

  1. How car engine works..good animation to explain that.

to something not so well defined as

  1. How Pawnshops work....(Cousin2 hs already attempted to explain part of it in her review on Rolex watches titled ''IWishICouldAffordIt!'')

to something Homely as

  1. How Icemakers work

to official-work on

  1. How does a ball-point pen work..

to drinkers delight

  1. How does beer work.

----

Stop it pls ..I know how these things work ..cause I know HowStuffworks.

My advice is if u r there to find something you want to know...Stick to your topic before you venture out into new findings..its like the Pyramid of Giza ..u go in and u don't know where or how or why u came in .. :)

Also the search functionality is not that good ..atleast I did not find it that way ..and look out before u click cause there are other search engines actively displaying their text-boxes there, eagerly waiting for you to type something and click and take u out into the ocean once again ..

Theres otherstuff like streaming vidoeshots, guide to hundreds of cool gadgets and collection of interesting web Links

If you still not done ..u can enrol for their daily/weekly newsletter.

They also have their own HSW Player which playes streeming vidoes real fast..

Very rightly said just about anything you could fit in the phrase ''how _____ works'' is fair game.

Example ''How Nostradamus Works'' ...great example but it does work.

Don't trust me ..give it a shot.

Don't ask me if I can answer my nephew now ...

Thankx for reading my review ..Pls comment and rate it :)

Peace be with you

How does it work?
Dec 27, 2003 02:54 AM

I came across this site first when, for physics homework, I needed to find out and understand how a fridge worked. I entered the site, after several minutes of browsing several, useless sites. Then, as the pictures and copy loaded, I wondered: Is this the site for me?

Now I understand that it truely is. The thing about this site is, it's so big, so many things have been explored, and the way in which they work published on this very great site.

Each article is explained clearly so that almost anyone can understand, and pictures are included for accurate visualisation of the ideas.

I know longer just use this site for homework but for my own general interest. Almost every time I surf the web I find myself entering the now familiar site, searching for an articly of desire. After each one I read, I feel enlightened, and I know I will no longer ask myself...'how does this work. Whether it be for miltary equipment like helicopter, or household things like washing machines, this site has it all (nearly). Hey, it even had banking 'stuff'.

Whether you are doing research or are just looking to improve your knowledge, the appropriately named 'howstuffworks' website is sure to satisfy you.

Treasury of stuffs
Dec 22, 2003 11:16 PM

Always one will have doubts about everything in this world. We will have lot of questions in our mind about everything in this world. There are lot of 'Wh' questions that will arise when, what, where, why, who, how etc.,

''Known is a drop unknown is a ocean''.

You can see any one who knows about everything in this world. But this site provides the answer for all the question ''wh'' about almost everything in this world.Even if not it provides you the list of related websites like a search engine.

Do you know some basic stuffs about something that we use in our daytoday life

How CD works,How Satellite TV works,How Cell phone works,How floppy drives work, how email works, how radio works, how a TV remote works, how a bulb works, how a refigerator works, how a A/C works, how all parts of ur body works, how credit cards works, how an automobile works, how a CD player works and many more. The site provides you all such useful basic stuffs.

How cam to know about this site?

Once my Automoblie engineering professor asked the students to visit this site for details about various automobile systems and its basics.Immediately I visited this site and I was amazed on seeing such a site with all useful technical stuffs and informations.

''Frist impression is the best impression''and this saying well suits for any websites home page. The home page should be attractive and well organised to make the visitor to proceed with the site further. It should have all the necessary links to reach a particular area of the site with minimum effort. The links should be visible and should not be congested.Even sometime we may miss some but I feel this site has all above said features. It has a very well designed homepage.

1) The home page has a textbox for searching the topic youn want.

2) You have list of all categories as links such as Computer stuff, Auto stuff, Electronics stuff, Science stuff, Home stuff, Entertainment stuff, Health stuff, Money stuff, Travel stuff, People stuff. You can reach the needed stuff by clickijng on these links also.

3) you have the Today on X category which gets you directly to a newly added article in a particular category.

4) You have Explore stuff under which you have links as Get the newsletter,Speedy:Ad-free site,Cool stuff,Big list of articles.

5) You have a list of top ten articles/stuffs listed.

6) You have some article about the hottest topic on date now in then site we have all related stuffs about ''Christmas'' festival like how christmas trees works, how christmas lights works and many more.

7) A link to goolge search

8) A survey which has a practicalquestion which is funny and makes you understand more about the people in the world. The question now posted for survey is What kind of christmas tree do you have?A real one, artificial one, both, none

9) Newly added stuffs in each category is also listed

10) Suggestion/Comment board.

The most fascinating things about the site are

1) The way in which they have presented and illustrated the stuffs are good.

2) The colours they have used for various links are not disturbing and good choice of colours.

3) The font of the text is simple and enhances the readablilty.

4) Each stuff has links to all related stuffs and all the stuffs are not dumped in a single page and so you feel it easy to read and understand.

5) They come up with extraordinary animations and photographs to make the stuff more clear and understandable. The graphics and animations are really good.

6)If you want to see all the animations you can go to Coolstuff and then in that page go to Animation tour. You can see all the best animations of the site.

7) The size of each page is short and precise and they have divided everything into fragments and established links to all in a proper manner.

They also provide you a membership so that you can get newsletters about the mew updates of the site periodically.

you can become a member of this site by clicking the link ''Get Newsletter'' under ''Explore Stuff''.

The most important link that one should not forget to visit is ''Cool stuff'' under ''Explore stuff''.This link has all the article links listed on a single page, all animations listed, all weblinks listed, all books from which these articles are referred are listed, all surveys done so far are listed.

The option Speedy:Ad-free site.Makes your loading speed this particular site ten times faster with some minimum payment per month. If interested try it out.

The only cons that I can find is the stuffs are too technical but for a technical student it is very useful to have some basics in his subjects and also other general knowledge stuffs. The engineering students don't forget to visit this site it is excellent.
