Gocollect

I went to GoCollect.com to order a gift for a couple's 50th anniversary. They had the perfect gift and the site stated it was in stock and would ship in 24 to 48 hours. After ordering the product I waited and waited for my account page to state it had shipped. After a week I dug a little further and found the item was actually out of stock. I tried to get through to someone to cancel the order. There is no way through your account to do so even though they state to go to your account to cancel an order. I called the phone number several times and went to different extensions trying to get a live person. I left several messages with 2 phone numbers where I could be reached, but no one ever called back. I also emailed several times through the contact form on the site, but no response. After a week I used the form online and sent a message to every department requesting that my order be cancelled. One department responded stating that the item was being packaged and was about to ship. Too late for the anniversary it was intended for and I already gave them something else. I replied asking how something that was out of stock was about to be shipped. We'll see if it takes a week and another 100 messages and phone calls for a response to that one.

GoCollect.com is an online shopping site for everything collectible. They claim an inventory of over 34,000 products. You can search for your favorites several ways.

By Product line. There are over one hundred lines listed including Hummel, Yankee Candle, Precious Moments,Swarovski Crystal, Walt Disney, Snobabies, and Christopher Radko.

By Theme. Angels, Teddy Bears, Lighthouses, Sports, Elvis, Teapots and many more.

By Season or occasion. You can search for holiday themes as well as for gifts for special occasions-weddings, anniversaries, birthdays etc.

By Specialized ''floors''. There are special areas for candles and candle accessories, gifts for men, Christmas, and charitable giving. (this contains items for which a portion of the sale is donated to charity), inspirational gifts and more.

Can't find something with all those choices? There is a ''gift finder'' search area which allows you to combine occasion, theme and pricing.

GoCollect.com's. Pricing is generally average retail, BUT they have a very generous loyalty program and frequent little freebies and extras. Sign up for the loyalty program and get 50 points. Sign in at the site each day and get 5 points. You also earn points with every purchase-from 2-4 per dollar spent depending on how much you spend. There are trivia or survey questions a couple times a month that will add 10-20 more points. Be sure to sign up for email alerts for special points opportunities including double points weekends.

You can apply your points to up to 20% of your purchase. (this is a recent change-previously there was no limit). The loyalty points program is available to everyone.

Free shipping is available for US orders of $75. or more. The site does ship internationally using weight to determine pricing.

This is a great site for finding items for that collector on your gift list-especially if you turn those loyalty points into a little something for yourself! Keep an eye out for occasional free gifts with purchases.(there is a box on the home page that you can click for current info.)
