Sony 3D LED Reviews

Best Sony 3D LED
Jun 28, 2012 12:21 PM 19505 Views

What a TV!! What an experience!! Simply mind-blowing. What makes it even more mind-blowing is that I had a DVD home theatre system - the additional 3D virtual surround Home Theater system connects with this DVD Home Theater system, my Blu-Ray player, and my Tata Sky HD. So its like 2 home theater systems (with 2 powerful sub-woofers) working at the same time to blow you head over heels.

Here are the best features:

  1. 200 Hz pro Motion Flow for extra clear fast moving images. (Try reading text on the screen of a TV without MotionFlow and you’ll know the difference)

  2. Bravia Sync - one remote does it all. (I have 5 remotes - one each for LED TV, DVD Home theater system, Blu-Ray, 3D Home theater system, and Tata Sky HD). With Bravia Sync its just one remote - ANY one of the 4 from Sony.

  3. Image clarity is superb, 3D quality is just like you’ll see in a 3D theatre (by paying Rs 350 or more).

  4. 3D glasses are electronic, not like the ones you get at I-Max. And they switch off automatically if unused for a certain period of time. The best part is - these glasses are very comfortable, doesn’t strain the eye, doesn’t cause headaches. And they are cuter and smaller than the ones you get at I-Max.

  5. TV connects to the internet directly (haven’t used this feature though) but will configure it soon.

  6. 3D Home theater sub-woofer packs a mighty punch

Imagine paying 1.19 lacs and getting free stuff worth over 40, 000/-.

Finally, Sony’s quality is just too reliable. My mom has a Sony TV - its over 12 years old. She also has a TV from LG - about 10 years old. I had a Samsung, its about 3 years old. In 12 years Sony TV hasn’t demanded any service - everything just works. As for the LG, remote replaced 3 times, 4th replacement due. Samsung already shows dark spots on the screen.

I want to write this review from bottom of my hearth with a great genuity & want God to help the customers who put there hard earned money.

SONY is a great disappointment now, I bought SONY bravia and my hardened money is simply waste now. My LED is a damaged peice. There is absolulely NO response from SONY india neither from Service. Everything is a big farce, a big drama. If report incident to SOny, they will visit you and show how keen they are, they will talk all big things to make you comfortable and at the end they will not do anything. They will run, its a white colure cheating.

I have been struggling with them, it has caused me huge stress and nevousness.

Perhaps, this is the reason they are FAILED now, SONY were planning to shut down the TV business as it is a loss making business since last few years. My friends in Japan told me, SONY has huge reputation loss in Japan itself. Look at there competitors offering, they offer much more at less price.

I heard, Now a days few companies have started paying to write good about them and heard that SONY is also doing the same. But how long they will survive with faulty, defective products. Truth wins.

SONY should remember, they can not cheat and fool customers for so long. Truth prevails one or another day, SONY will be history.

Sony Bravia KDL55HX820 55-Inch 1080p 3D LED HDTV

Mine arrived this week and it is beautiful! The monolithic screen design with the Gorilla glass / Opticontrast panel is totally black when the set is off. When it is on, the image is stunning. Pair this with a nice Blu-Ray player and it will knock your socks off. It's bright and clear with great colors and the blackest blacks I've seen on a TV. The MotionFlow 480 makes for extremely smooth motion with no snapshotting that you see in sets with lower frame rates. It's also very light. One person can pick it up with no problem as long as your arms are long enough to reach.

It comes with a nice pillar and plate stand but I think I'm going to move mine to the wall. I'm really tempted to put a nice frame around it. Seriously. Another very nice feature is you can turn off the light behind the Sony logo at the bottom center of the screen. It's visible enough for me as is and I personally don't like all the extra lights that so many sets use to light up their logos. So nice and subdued it is. The set also locates where people are in the room. It has a camera(not sure how I feel about that on an internet-connected TV) and captures full-on images of you as you watch it. It uses this for adjusting the internal speakers, the 3D effect if you are off center, and to determine if nobody is watching to turn the set off to conserve energy. I might just put a bit of black tape over it and turn off the energy conservation so it doesn't always think it is alone and shut down.

This thing also synthesizes 3D from 2D images. You can watch regular TV or DVD's/Blu-Ray, or any of the streaming functions in 3D if you want. It actually does a pretty good job and for the life of me I couldn't tell you how they pull it off. It's basically magic. For true 3D input it is absolutely amazing. You also have the ability to adjust the apparent depth to the 3D effect.

I looked at other 3D sets and the images on the Sony don't pop out into the room like some of the others.(Edit - this is a setting and you can bring images out into the room.) It's almost like you are looking into the 3D scene as opposed to having it come out into the room(on the default settings). I think looking into the 3D scene is a bit more natural though not as startling or stunning as having things look like they are basically in your lap. That has lots of wow factor but seems more gimmicky and less realistic. There are a number of adjustments for the 3D image and it's possible the Sony will push them out into the room too.(It can.)

One other thing about the 3D effect - the Sony uses active glasses to produce 3D. Most others do too but one manufacturer does not - LG. Their 3D uses circularly polarized glasses just like the ones at the theater with the RealD 3D. Those are cheaper, lighter, and you can even turn your head sideways and still see the image perfectly. I liked the Sony's features better than the LG which is why I went Sony. One was that the set with the plain polarized glasses is only 120 Hz while the Sony is 480. On the Sony with active glasses, and again most others, if you lay down where your head is 90 degrees from vertical, the images go dark. It's surprisingly tolerant of head tilt, though, and stays bright until you are just about horizontal. This will also be a function of the glasses and I did not use Sony glasses. I used Xpand Universal X103 3D Glasses Compatible with Active 3D TV's, Black.

Other points - the unit is very well packed but the shipping box is almost as thin(6") as the set itself(1.1"). As far as shock damage if you have this unit shipped, I doubt there will be much of a problem unless the shipper is extremely careless. Something sticking through the box is going to stand a good chance of hitting the screen or the back of the unit though the cardboard box itself has very thick walls. Even the box was is great shape and the TV was perfect.

This unit was definitely worth waiting for. Also, if you buy this from Amazon, you get a 2 week price guarantee.(Note - Amazon can change the guarantees at any time. Be sure to know the conditions and details when you buy yours.) The day before mine was to be delivered, Amazon dropped the price. I just notified Amazon and the refunded the difference. Nice. You also get a 30 day shipping-paid return if you decide you don't like the set. I'll only use that if something fails. This set is worth the price.

Also, I am always leery of buying LCD screen items if returns are going to be a hassle if there are stuck or dead pixels. None of either on my set. I'm exceptionally happy about that! But had there been, Amazon's return policy is better than the local stores' policies. I've got 30 days for something like that to develop(always possible) to make sure I've got a good set. It's hard to beat that.

At least in my case, Amazon shipped using CEVA. I had not heard of them before and was a bit nervous watching the CEVA tracking page. I don't know what they are doing there, but it doesn't seem to have any basis in reality. It showed the TV going around the country in a big circle basically and finally arrived right back where it started. I thought for sure they would blow the promised delivery date. Amazingly, a few hours after tracking showed it arriving back at origin, I got a call from the local shipper to arrange delivery and it actually arrived a day early. Nice. But just a heads-up if you buy one and it ships CEVA. Something is very odd about their tracking page and it is basically worthless IMHO.

I gambled on buying this through Amazon since they aren't local to go see someone in person if it had been necessary and there was the risk of shipping damage. Neither was an issue. Not only did I get price protection(I waited through one price drop but a 2nd one came within days of ordering so price protection is nice), but there was no damage whatsoever and I didn't have to get someone with a truck to help me pick it up at the store. I just helped the delivery guy carry it from his truck to my living room.

The set itself is everything I had thought it would be and more. I had seen other Opticontrast panels before but it is absolutely stunning in my living room. As some apparently say about these sets, it does look more real than real.

5 stars without a doubt. I have no problem recommending this set to anyone.

Well ive always been a faithful Sony consumer be it dvd players cameras mobiles or just dvd/blu ray writers.

sony products have been in my family even before I was born till date had used 5 sony tvs the first tv lasted for 27 years and the gas leaked from the tube and the other 3 were given to family. we found the need to upgrade our tv last year since it seemed small. and dad wudnt buy anything but a sony.

Decided wed pick up a 50 inch monolithic and headed to the nearest Sony center to my bad luck the 50 incher was stopped and a 46 inch was der. browsing the shop I saw the 3d tv took a demo and went wowoww dis is better then the theaters no headaches no discomfort nothing.

There was a 55 inch which we loved tuk its measurements n came home and darn it there were just 2 inches gaps n both sides nt good went back n decided on a 46 incher picked up the monolithic got 9 3d blu rays free a blu ray player a stand with inbuilt speakers and 2 stereoscopic glasses a great deal picked up 2 extra glasses.

the tv got delivered in a hour and the tech installed it.. that beast made my living room seem futuristic.

watched a few blu rays like avatar cloudy with a chance of meat balls and monster house the 3d rendering was perfect but a bit of shadowing was there. movie viewing was fun but I disabled the motion flow as it made images move faster n seemed weird.

cable tv viewing is ok as my cable isn't clear. tata sky hd .. was damn crisp n clear had vibrant colors cricket matches were a treat .

the sound from the tv speakers is ok ok but a tad low maybe if I used the stand it wud be better but anyways I have it hooked upto my onkyo TX-NR1008 n jamo speakers

customer care of sony is always trust worthy in my whole life of using sony I never had any issues which needed service.

upgraded my ps3 software n played black ops in 3d jeez that's the real shiet..m luvin it

newayz the tv has got some good features has inbuilt wifi watched some streaming you-tube vids without any hiccups.

This review is about latest Sony NX710 3D 40 inch TV and not for HX 800 which is shown on the REVIEW TOPIC  pic section.

I decided to edit my last review after Sony came to its senses and send me a right engineer to fix all my problems with T.V and Service. But I have to really struggle for some time to get right response with these guys. Be sure to have right service support from Sony.

Now back to the T.V after analyzing and playing various format on the T.V its really beginning to Shine " this could be the start of a beautiful relationship" . The display panel quality of this T.V is different from other Sony’s I have seen so far. The colors are vivid and detailed and dark levels are just superb. And you will know when you throw a Blu-ray disk at it....it’s then you will see "The Movie Magic" coming alive in your bedroom. As times the Picture quality is just Breathless.

The Bravia engine is not meant to make picture extra vivid or Bright it’s meant to bring warmth out of the picture and give them natural look on a flat panel which comes very too close to CRT images...Though on a Blu-ray  the engines make Images come out alive from the screen.

Now comes the Design. It’s clear with its Monolith Design and Aluminum Speaker stand The T.V looks like it was kept on a Space station near Moon. It’s futuristic and the same time elegant to look at...whether it is switched off or ON. The Glass front with minimal black edges the TV gives superb no distraction display to viewers, its like watching a movie on a sheet of glass.  Thier is no doubt that this is best looking T.V in the market today. I do still feel it’s a Master Bedroom T.V set since its gives your room very elegant princy look and may not be very economical for Main Hall...Whooping 1, 93, 000 for 46 Inch Display ...you may buy 2 sets from competition at that price. The speaker system with T.V is another advantage for Bedroom Display because it produce better sound and Bass than T.V speakers but is not strong enough or replacement for HTS. T.V design is sleek and comes with all the connectivity’s you can imagine except Bluetooth I guess. It has optical, HDMI, Component and composite connection with ARC connectivity very useful indeed. The T.V is not as thin as SAMSUNG but then you will need extra adapters and tough connectivity exercises to plug in Samsung T.V which is not the case with SONY.

3D- the Buzz word today and and thanks to "AVATAR" it changed everything about Entertainment business. Though NX710 is 100Hrz T.V it is well capable of handling and playing 3D contents though at times it shows image shadows for distance objects in a movie and if you may ignore that the 3D quality is pretty good with no flickers and good contrast ratios. the best I have seen in a 3D- Budget T.V...SORRY for using Budget Word for a INR 1, 50, 000 T.V. Although there are very limited 3D titles in the market but I guess to invest in a T.V without 3D will be waste of money since we all going to need 3D feature in our T.V's in very near Future. With 3D games, Movies, Pictures there is no stopping now. To add to it Sony 3D glasses are best to look at and comfortable to wear. Though at times I do feel like scuba diver

T.V comes with Sony 3D Blu-ray player and like PS3 this player is awesome for a Budget player. The loading times are fastest I have seen so far and pictures are warm and detailed.

Last Lines - Its worth spending another 30, 000 (for 40inch display) on this T.V if looks matters to you (Hate to be so shallow - but then who minds). You will definitely be blow away by its mesmerizing design and panel quality.

Some of the Bluray Titles I will  recommened for this T.V

1> Black Hawk Down

2> Star Trek (2009)

3> King Kong ( 2008)

4> Avatar

5> Saving Private Ryan

2D to 3D conversion - The option is available but you will not use it because it does not make any sense...

3D view - the glasses are comfortable and 3d Blu ray looks good but T.V does throw picture shadow effects for distance objects which I found missing in HX800.

Remote - HUGE

Design - Amazing.

SD Display - Dismal - need to check with DTH connection.

In built speakers - better than most of the T.V but then you will need HTS

size - 40 inch for Rs.1, 49, 900

Service and support - What service and support - and Sony World shops Sucks. I think a 3rd party retailer will be more helpful.

Sony 3D LED- worth every rupee spent
Sep 27, 2010 03:07 PM 28570 Views

I recently bought a Sony 3D LED(40 HX 800). It comes with an amazing offer - the following products are free with the TV:

  1. 3D Blu Ray Player worth Rs 19, 900/-

  2. Pair of 3D glasses worth Rs 13, 000/-

  3. 400 watts RMS 3D virtual surround sound speaker with sub-woofer worth Rs 19, 900/-

  4. Nine 3D blu ray discs worth Rs 9, 000/-

Here's the inside scoop - I initially bought a normal LED TV(40 EX 710), and just a day after I bought it, Sony announced an offer on their 3D LED range. I called Sony and told them I wanted to upgrade since I had not even opened the LED TV I had bought - it was in its original packing, un-opened.(Didn't get the time to open the box and install the TV). They immediately told me that I can upgrade. Rushed to Sony, paid the difference and here I am- my living room is a mini-I-max 3D theater.

What a TV! What an experience! Simply mind-blowing. What makes it even more mind-blowing is that I had a DVD home theater system - the additional 3D virtual surround Home Theater system connects with this DVD Home Theater system, my Blu-Ray player, and my Tata Sky HD. So its like 2 home theater systems(with 2 powerful sub-woofers) working at the same time to blow you head over heels.

Here are the best features:

  1. 200 Hz pro Motion Flow for extra clear fast moving images.(Try reading text on the screen of a TV without MotionFlow and you'll know the difference)

  2. Bravia Sync - one remote does it all.(I have 5 remotes - one each for LED TV, DVD Home theater system, Blu-Ray, 3D Home theater system, and Tata Sky HD). With Bravia Sync its just one remote - ANY one of the 4 from Sony.

  3. Image clarity is superb, 3D quality is just like you'll see in a 3D theatre(by paying Rs 350 or more)

  4. 3D glasses are electronic, not like the ones you get at I-Max. And they switch off automatically if unused for a certain period of time. The best part is - these glasses are very comfortable, doesn't strain the eye, doesn't cause headaches. And they are cuter and smaller than the ones you get at I-Max.

  5. TV connects to the internet directly(haven't used this feature though) but will configure it soon.

  6. 3D Home theater sub-woofer packs a mighty punch

Imagine paying 1.19 lacs and getting free stuff worth over 40, 000/-.

Finally, Sony's quality is just too reliable. My mom has a Sony TV - its over 12 years old. She also has a TV from LG - about 10 years old. I had a Samsung, its about 3 years old. In 12 years Sony TV hasn't demanded any service - everything just works. As for the LG, remote replaced 3 times, 4th replacement due. Samsung already shows dark spots on the screen.

My recommendation - if you want an ultimate 3D experience, go for Sony. It will be well worth every rupee you spend.
