I pad review
Jul 26, 2011 07:12 PM 7723 Views

Ipad is one of those products which enjoy its company brand name for getting sales..if it was not apple launching it.

It wud not get the record sales it got!...but ipad anyways being the first entrant in tablet pc market was a hit and its ahead not only because of it being the first product in its field but because of its features and design and performance.

There are few tablet pcs available which can match ipad in performance its really nice in performance it has really nice video quality and applications works very smoothly in it apart from dat ipad has various types of ipad depending on its internal memory and anyways  it looks also nice and sleek .

After reviewing other products I wud say ipad is still the best in its field.

Apple of my eye - Ipad 2 review
May 02, 2011 12:46 AM 9992 Views

When I decided to buy a tablet device I was confused between Apple Ipad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is due for late June release in India. I was heavily moved with my decision to choose Samsung GT 10.1 and wait for it, however I knew that with an improved dual core processor Apple Ipad 2 would be a good device for portable gaming that I have being looking for all this while.

I began my extensive research on both these devices for few days and finally decided to buy Apple Ipad 2. I got my Ipad 2 from Reliance Digital Istore at Jewel Square mall in Koregaon Park on the launch day itself, a black 16 GB Wi-Fi Ipad 2. The store representative first called me to inform that due to octroi issues their stock had got stuck and I would get my delivery on Saturday, luckily I got a call again in the evening and got my Ipad.

Dimension Specs

0.34 inch in thickness

9.5 inch tall

7.3 inches in width

Weighing close to 600 grams

Holding the Ipad 2 gives you feel of a really well designed tech marvel, not recommended to hold it for long in your palms it would start feeling heavy and having a protective cover is a must for this device as the screen is smudge magnet and there are already some cheap covers+ bluetooth keyboard accessories available on ebay india site. Smart cover that is going to retail for Rs 2100 was still not available from the store I purchased my Ipad. Screen resolution of 1024 x 768  is crisp and can be customized for brightness. It also has ambient light sensor, an accelerometer and 3 axis gyroscope . The Power button is situated on the top right corner just behind the screen, with a 3.5 mm jack for headset connection towards top left. Volume control button is placed vertically just below the power button on right hand side.

Powering up the Ipad 2 it boots within roughly 20-25 seconds. Swipe unlock familiar to Iphone and Ipod touch is also present in Ipad 2, factory preset model comes with limited apps like Photo Booth, You tube, App Store, Game Center and FaceTime app. The first thing I did was to download Itunes software on my laptop and load the system updates available from Istore, registered my device and synching the Ipad to Itunes is pretty swift. I got started on the App Store instantly and exploring different useful apps, downloaded few of them.

Using Ipad 2 virtual keyboard is easy in general however you would have to rest the Ipad on a desk or some support becuase it starts feeling bulky after a while switching palms and hands becomes obvious. Ipad 2 is zippy and does not struggle with orientation changes, home screen swipes opening up multiple applications which I tried with a HD game and camera application and 2 other applications all open while I kept switching between them. the A5 1 Ghz dual core chip within this device handles multi taksing without much issues, still need to check as to what limit would the processor get maxed out. While using the FaceTime app for placing a video call I notice Ipad 2 heating up slightly after alomst close to 1 hour of video call.

Ipad 2 scores low on having decent camera for taking photos, HD video recording is almost up to the mark, since taking videos and photographs was not on my priority list of what I was looking from a tablet device so I gave this feature a miss, you can take a look at the sample video and pics I have taken from Ipad 2.

With 512 MB RAM on the house playing games is much sought relief for me to move up from playing on small mobile screen to a proper portable gaming device, I always kept giving Sony's PSP a miss because I did not want to get tied down to a small screen device for gaming which a lot of new gen smart phones are getting better at. I have downloaded few trial games to see how they look on Ipad2 and I must say it delivers pretty well as a portable gaming device.

Watching movies, video clips also looks great. The default video player would only accept MP4 format videos and that too copied via Itunes, you need to buy a separate camera connector adapter to copy images and videos from a SD card, USB drive. for playing video format other than MP4 you can either download some free apps like Ipad video converter from Aleesoft, which would work for small videos but becomes a tedious process for converting full movies if you have got them in popular formats like DivX or Xvid etc. So I brought a paid app for$3 from the App Store called CineXplayer which is a good and stable software to play your movies without the trouble of conversion, however it does not support .mkv video and AC3 format yet.

Unfortunately Itunes store for India does not feature music downloads, you can still download audio and video podcasts for your device. There are some paid apps that are available on the app store to allow viewing of Microsoft office documents, not sure how many of them allow creating word, excel and powerpoint format docs as ipad does not have a Microsoft supported office productivity app.

I am yet to test the 10 hour battery claim, so cannot comment much about it right now. You can feel the fluidity in the accessibility and navigation while using the device which is a pleasant experience and I must say that I have got hooked to my Ipad in no time. iOS 4.3 does not herald any significant changes from it's previous versions again I cannot delve much into it because I have not being a iphone or ipod touch user before.

Ipad 2 also has Airplay feature which enables wireless broadcast of songs, images, videos and other media content on an apple enabled device which supports airplay technology. Using FaceTime app is great and pretty simple to use which I liked the most. Applications like Garage Band, MovieTime also seem to be interesting from the videos I have watched over Youtube not planning to spend much on apps right now, as getting a decent cover with screen protector is the priority right now. Was just amazed by the plethora of accessories and stuff available on the web for ipad 2, no wonder Apple products sell like crazy in US and Europe.

If you already have the first gen Ipad it is really not worth going for Ipad2 unless you are really willing to let go of your previous device and opt for a faster, improved graphics enabled ipad 2 that comes along with front and rear camera. ipad 2 falls short on lack of flash support, no USB connectivity for external HDD devices, missing SD/micro SD card slot(for heavy downloaders storage could easily become a challenge), the same missing checkpoints is where Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was scoring on with also being a telecom device along with tablet.

I decided to enter the world of iOS opting over Android as it has a long way to go in garnering developer support to build a strong app library like iOS currently has and also user base that would further drive the success of Android. Samsung GT 10.1's rear side 8 megapixel camera and front 2 megapixel camera with a stunning AMOELD screen almost tempted me but I think I am not regretting by choosing ipad2, people like me who have never used an apple product like macbook, mac pc, ipod or ipod touch and are seeking a good tablet device that provides a rich experience of media viewing especially gamers looking for a cool portable gaming device you can undoubtedly go for ipad2.

The Original Ipad-As good as it gets
Apr 02, 2011 10:04 AM 5496 Views

Apple has a history of bringing out path breaking products. All the rest  are usually followers/Me too type of products. With the introduction of  the Ipad, Apple has lived up to its awesome reputation.Another historical  baggage that they have lived up to -they still do not consider India as  a consumer market and you will get product launches about a year after  it is launched in the rest of the world!

I too got taken in by the Ipad hype and kept going to their website and  watched all the demos of the product. At the same time the Ipad 2 was  getting ready for a launch in USA in March 2011  and I had to make a  business trip to Houston. On the day of the launch I also stood in queue  in a Best Buy store  to purchase the Ipad 2 .Unfortunately it had a  three week waiting period after the booking and what's more, the store(  like most stores across USA) lowered the price of the original IPad by  100 Dollars on  the same day.At 399 USD the original Ipad was a steal  and I did not let go of the opportunity.

I bought the basic version which is 16 GB one with Wifi only.I was a  little worried about Wifi coverage at home but MTNL broadband put this  to rest. All you have to do is to replace your wired modem with a  wireless one( make sure the replacement is done by MTNL/BSNL)  and Wifi  will be on the road.

I have now been using this regularly for about a month. The product is  amazing but the best part by far is the video playback.Even on the  fastest broadband you will have stutters on a PC on' You Tube'  but  this is not the case while watching on Ipad. Not sure if it is something  to do with the product or the operating system but you can watch videos  just like you watch it on TV.

The other features are well known -touch screen, screen resolution  etc. The icing on the cake is the Ipad applets. There are thousands of  applets for the Ipad which is where the real power of this  gizmo is.For  eg the Times of India edition for the Ipad feels better than  reading  the actual newspaper.Similar is the case with the ICC World cup  applet. You want to watch all ten wickets of an innings in 35 seconds  -this is the application to go.I am not much of a games man but there  are hundreds of free games that can be downloaded. The touch screen  keyboard is however not very easy to operate for typing and certainly  not with both hands like you would on a conventional keyboard.

Basic web surfing is a breeze and  very easy to Navigate. The browser is  the Apple standard Opera. There is a bookshelf which looks and feels  exactly like your favorite bookshelf at home where you can stack up all  the ebooks.

Two main complaints or rather three against the product are the following:

-Nowadays we cannot think of a computer product without a USB drive. The  Ipad has none. There was some talk of the Ipad 2 being fitted with a USB  but even that does not have any.I suppose Apple consciously wants you to  move away from any file transfers through USB.If you have to transfer  music, photos, bookmarks etc, it has to be through ITunes( ie you must  have Itunes downloaded and installed both on your PC and your IPad).

-No camera, you can use the Ipad like an Ipod and it has the same look  and feel but users have been sorely missing a camera on the Ipad.  Atleast they could have provided a basic camera like that on a phone.

-Does not run Flash and therefore you will be unable to run some clips  from Youtube and other sites which have been recorded on this platform.

To sum it up, the Ipad is a path-breaking product, beautiful for everyday  surfing and checking mail, the perfect in between your PC/Laptop and the  mobile!Take it to bed at bed-time;you will love it!

IPAD - Revolutionary device
Mar 10, 2011 06:42 PM 4870 Views

I have always been an apple fan.. Their products are neatly designed, user oriented and most advanced as compared to other brands. The products are innovative and gives others a benchmark to work on.

I bought my ipad in September, it costed me 499$ I was coming back to India and I just could not resist the temptation to buy one.

Here are my observations:

Design:

The design is beautiful, slim and simple. However  you do need a case to protect the back or otherwise it will have minor to major scratches depending on the personal use.

There are no useless buttons cramped up and everything is neatly put up in its place be it the home button, the power button or the volume buttons. But somehow I do feel that its heavy and its too risky to work around it unless you have it in a case.. The design could have been better, it lacks grip and one can easily drop it.

Screen Size:

The screen is beautiful and sharp, the colurs are just awesome and I have not experienced the same in any of the contending tablets. I have seen visible difference in color and quality while watching the same movie or reading a book or magazine in ipad or on LCD screen or any other tablet.

The size is just perfect, neither too big, nor too small. I somehow feel that 7" is small, but thats maybe cause I am used to the 9.7"sceen size.

Battery:

Unlike apple 3G whose battery sucks to the core. iPad on the other hand has an amazing battery life, true to its word it does last nearly 10 hrs on a single full charge.

Applications: I dont think there is any other company which alone has so many developers producing so many applications every day. The applications are not very expensive and are really useful.

Now from my personal viewpoint:

I have never come across such intuitve design in any other product if you compare it with ipad

The screen size is perfect along with the quality of colors and brightness

I can get my office emails and other google eamails configured easily on ipad and all my office doucments open after downloading the goodreader app from the appworld.

If you want to watch movies, listen to music, browse through family pictures, surf internet at its best, do minimal office work, read magazines, books etc then this is the best device you can get for nearly Rs 25000/-

Though it does not support flash and does not have a USB/mini USB port but still you will love this device as it caters to nearly all the day to day work and entertainment needs.

Amazing product

I have always been a apple fanboy. Nothings beats a apple product. The fineness and quality of product that they manufacture cannot be matched by other product manufacturer. Now I feel how important iPad is for reading e-newspaper daily in the morning. Never imagined it could be such a useful and handy product.

Couldn't wait for iPad 2, as india is always releases it very late.

Go for this product and you will just love it

Ipad..big on pocket and less of utility
Jan 05, 2011 03:20 AM 6134 Views

I does not owe an iPad personally but I had it for few days. it was my cousins which she got as a gift from her company. iPad is not officially launched in India but is expected to be around for 25000 rs for 16GB.

Before stating few merits and demerits let me tell you what iPad is ipad is a netbook which has inbuilt wifi and 3g. basic use is to surf the net.

merits:

Very responsive touch screen and great graphics. processor is fast and apps work like charm. Battery life is good as well and very easy to use. Good built quality.

Demerits:

1) Has too many restriction like any other apple product. you cannot install any app form other site but from the apple app store itself, for which you have to pay, not much free apps are available on the store.

2) No camera, I mean front facing camera. in spite of 3G capabilities you cannot make video call.

3) Files from bluetooth can only be transferred to apple product.

4) No flash support, means website which uses flash to display content or graphics cannot be rendered properly, sites like YouTube. So its not the best web experience.

5) You cannot download file from website and save it on iPad really, you can't. There is no file manager as well.

Conclusion:

Like other apple product this is also overpriced in the same price you can get a dell laptop with good configuration.

It is seriously not of much use as I have seen, good for showoff but not practical. You cannot use it to its full extent. in short its just a big 9 inch iPod.

IPad, Mixed Feelings
Dec 11, 2010 10:53 AM 5779 Views

My review is prefaced with the fact that I use my iPad daily. It can by no means replace a regular computer though. It servers me well for standard Facebooking, and quick Inet searches. I like the GIS Map feature and the onscreen keyboard. The ipod feature is nice, but not as practical for use because of the size. I find it limiting though that it does not accept Flash which is used on a number of websites. Further, it does not have a USB port so uploading to it must be done through another computer or via web(not possible from my current digital camera). I would recommend waiting for 2nd generation, I assume some of these limitations will be addressed if Apple is listening.

IPAD: does it replaces my laptop/netbook?
Aug 10, 2010 08:35 AM 6448 Views

Well - this may be the most difficult review to write as it is a wonderful charismatic piece of hardware have ever held in my hands; and it may be the most disappointing deliverable electronic device ever sold!

I bought this device(IPAD wifi and 3G with 64 MB RAM) on 28th May, 2010 and used it extensively for a month till I realized I could not depend on it for my computing needs. Slowly its use has dwindled to a mere few hours in a week and that too to find out as how could I put it to use.

Let me start by listing the hardware and the software with its pros and cons. For detailed specs, please use the apple web site.

Device: Sleek body with minimal switches - a delight; Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor are great features to have on this device

Battery: Lasts for ever(10 hours or a little more) on one charge

Screen: Brilliantly bright LCD screen; delight to watch a movie or view photographs on it. kes a lot of fingerprints but easy to clean with a special cloth

Touchscreen: Very responsive and wonderful integration with the software; could not be better

Memory: Adequate for most of our computing needs

Camera: No camera and a big setback especially for people who skype

Audio: Good keeping in mind the size of the speakers

Ports: No USB ports; a big setback. One has to depend on a camera connector kit as a USB connector and that too for a limited function.

Wifi: Easy to setup and works fine.

3G: Needs a micro sim, which is not yet available in India(one can cut the larger sim to fit the sim tray); in use works flawlessly with any data plan. I have used vodaphone and worked fine.

Maps(GPS): Great feature and works very accurately; it needs a fast internet connection and edge technology available in India makes the loading a bit slow. Works great on 3G networks. Compass is a delightful addition.

Software: Uses iOS3 and totally inadequate for the device. iOS4 is promised this autumn and will have to wait and see how it functions. I have used iOS4 on my iphone 3GS and it did help improve the function of a mobile phone! No multitasking on this device yet.

Weight: Gets a bit heavy after holding it in your hands for more than 30 minutes.

Let me know review a few functions which anyone would like to use on a laptop or a netbook:

Word processing: Easy to use screen keyboard but needs a bit of practice. Cant use it on your lap for typing.

Web usage: Non availability of flash makes the web surfing a terrible experience. I routinely read my news on CNN, BBC and NDTV and my experience has been terrible. Not a dependable internet device as you would never be sure as to which page it could or would not load!

E Reader: Fantastic device in colour for book reading. Beats Kindle any day. A bit heavy for heavy readers.

Magazine reading: Makes magazine reading a wonderful experience. Not all magazines are available though! In India, none so far!

Photo viewer: An excellent device to vies your photographs;

Video viewing: A good experience; not yet HDMI and the video is only in a 16: 9 aspect ratio

Music: Just like your Ipod; wonderful listening experience. Ipod touch or ipod is more portable and thus ipad cannot be bought for just listening in to music.

Gaming: I am not much of a gamer, but what I read is that it is a wonderful device for gamers.

Printing: I have not yet explored this but what I read and going by my experience with the same OS on my iphone, it may be almost impossible to use a printer with this device.

Itunes and application store: Not yet available in India

Conclusion: To try and rate the iPad purely as a gaming or music or reading device is unfair. While it competes for these uses on all other devices - consoles and handhelds included - it's cannot be pitched as a direct competitor to either a netbook or a laptop. As something intended to completely replace a small laptop as an entertainment media consumption device, the ipad "not running Flash" thing is definitely a set back.

There's also the matter of price.$499 for the entry level device is steep. Yes, you get that smug feeling of owning a well-built and cool-looking device which is almost certainly Apple's most impressive-looking yet, but in these early days of its life it fails to meet the demand of a regular laptop user. When it's cheaper, it'll be a clinch.

Love Apple, or loathe them, they've made a compelling case for a device to consume media and entertainment with that's elegant, easy to use, and which serves up beautiful looking content. The potential it represents, is endless - and even over the course of its first three months on sale, I have read some phenomenal ideas. It's clear that the iPad will be a disruptive force in the computing space, and for that it should be commended. As a user, I would not recommend you to buy this device to replace your laptop - not yet!

PROS: Gorgeous 9.7" touchscreen, elegant design, gorgeous user interface, and runs softwares faster than any other iDevice.

CONS: It's expensive, and regardless of your feeling about Adobe's Flash, the fact that the iPad can't run it is inconvenient; the lack of camera is jarring and no multitasking makes the experience of using it nerve racking. Not yet available in India.

Apple iPad
Feb 01, 2010 03:20 PM 6242 Views

A quick weighing in on what we’ve seen and heard about the now-confirmed Apple tablet.

Ok, now that the word is out, let’s all just settle down and reflect a bit on what Apple has told us, and showed us about the new iPad. Most rumors about this thing have proven to be accurate. Why? Because this was the only obvious direction for Apple, if it really wanted to build the tablet. Sure, some of you wanted to see more from the iPad (including me), but we’re getting a good deal for that $499 price tag. Or so it seems.

You get WiFi-only with the base model, yes. But, the Apple iPad isn’t really for geeks, is it now? Most people will be happy to get Internet access at home, via occasional hot spots here and there, the coffee shops and pubs they regularly go to, etc., so I don’t think Internet will be such a big problem for these people. And those who want the Internet at their fingertips all the time can just go for the more expensive models, get an unlimited data plan while they’re at it, and still spend less for more. Even though there’s still a good couple of months (maybe more) before we get to hold this thing in our hands, the iPad makes a lot of sense for all kinds of people, particularly for those who are not computer experts. And that’s Apple’s customer, right there. A monkey could use this thing!Yes, Apple also ties the 3G model to a microSIM card that limits your choices for preferred carriers. AT&T is the only carrier confirmed to support the iPad in the US. The company is also one of the few that offers that pesky, tiny SIM card, which many people still wonder why it was even necessary to invent.

Battery life. Apple says ten hours. I says, “Not likely” and, “Would you like to put your money where your mouth is?” That’s how sure we are the iPad will not live up to its name, from a battery life standpoint, just like the iPhone. Your regular iPhone user - who browses the web, downloads an app or two, sends emails and listens to music on their iPhone, every day - will tell you that he or she needs to recharge that baby once every 24 hours. Apple claims up to seven hours of video playback on the iPhone 3G, and ten hours on the 3GS. These figures don’t reflect our experience with any of the iPhones we’ve employed. Sure enough, graphics-intensive apps - like racing games, for instance - will drain the iPad’s lithium-polymer battery before you can even reach for the charger. Of course, this is one take on the matter, based on experience with other Apple portables. We truly hope we’re wrong here. On the other hand, the device really belongs in a bag, or on a tabletop, so it’s bound to either have a plug nearby, or always be close to its charger.

I don’t think we even need to go into the whole size-and-weight thing, not to mention the design. Apple has always done well from both these standpoints, and will surely continue to do so with every upgrade / new product to come. You don’t need to turn the iPad around to see the sleek Apple logo on that finely finished aluminum casing to know you’re looking at a product designed at One Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California.

But there are more aspects that can be considered drawbacks. Here’s one: for the love of God, doesn’t Apple see the importance of multi-tasking on such a device? Also, no camera? Not even one? We get that video conferencing was too much to ask from a 500-dollar Apple portable, not to mention the difficulties AT&T is encountering with its 3G network, but there are some things that simply need to be part of a device like the iPad. And one of those things is a camera. If a webcam was too much to ask for, then the ability to take a picture with the thing, include it in one of those fancy Keynote slideshows and email it to your loved ones really sounds like a key feature Apple missed out on.

According to those who’ve had a go with it (following the end of Steve Jobs’ keynote address yesterday), the device is extremely snappy. No surprise there - it’s powered by Apple’s own chip. That should translate into many years of flawless operability, but also limitations, so we’ve got a good and a bad inside the 1GHz A4 silicon. Perhaps there’s also some hope for that ten-hour battery life thanks to the A4.

Oh, how could we forget about the screen? Is that thing gorgeous, or what? It sure makes the iPad look like the device to watch video on (in bed, drinking your morning coffee, etc.). The increased real estate clearly provides tons of benefits for any activity, including using some third-party apps like Brushes. When the iPad is out, Brushes will be there to complement that glossy 9.7-inch display, its developer has confirmed, and we bet there will be quite a few artists taking things to a whole-new level, thanks to the iPad.

“iPad”...hmm. We think Apple could have done a little better here as well. Of course, with no better suggestions for a name, we’re not going to weigh in on this too much. We just thought the company had it in it to come up with something better than the obvious name “iPad.”

It connects to a lot of neat accessories, like the iPad Keyboard Dock, which only enhances the tablet experience, combining Multi-Touch with traditional controls - a dream come true, for many Apple fans. The accessory combines a dock for charging your iPad with a full-size keyboard. Featuring a rear 30-pin connector, it lets you connect to an electrical outlet using the USB Power Adapter, sync to your computer, and use other accessories like the Camera Connection Kit

The storage capacities are OK. 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB flash drive for $499, $599, and $699, respectively (WiFi-only models). However, 16 gigs may not be enough for regular use in the nearby future. Apps will get bigger, as developers try to take advantage of the increased number of pixels, video automatically gets bigger for the iPad as well, etc. Hopefully, this will not prove to be a drawback. So far, storage sounds good.

We could go on forever about the things we believe are good with the Apple iPad, and those that are not so good. Basically, the iPad seems to combine Apple’s best features with many of its restrictions. But we're going to save our energy for when it ships. In the meanwhile, why don’t you help us see what everyone thinks about this thing, what are the key points Apple has nailed, or failed to get right, and so on. Use the comments at will. With enough feedback from you, we'll be able to do another piece, based entirely on your comments.

New Gizmo from Jobs' people
Feb 01, 2010 03:15 PM 3719 Views

Apple has finally launched its much hyped and very secretive tablet computing device. Named the iPad, this device has a 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touchdisplay with IPS technology. It weighs a modest 700 grams and comes with Wi-Fi and is 3G (optional) capable.

I personally haven't used it yet but based on the tech specs and videos available as well as my own experience using an iPhone and MacBook, I am quickly providing an "opinion" below. The tech specs can be sourced from apple.com/ipad/specs/ . Concisely though it comes with a custom Apple designed 1GHz chip, a claimed battery life of 10 hours of surfing on Wi-Fi or watching a movie and 132 ppi resolution. It also comes with a host of ancillaries, like a charging dock, a physical keyboard, camera connection kit and all apps usable with the iPhone which will only grow with time. Now that we have got the jargon and geeky details out of the way, here's my two cents about the device. If you compare it with the iPhone or a laptop, it will always fall short because it is too heavy and big to be carted around in your pocket and it does not have a camera either. It is too stripped down for you to comfortably write detailed reviews like the one that you are reading right now or make snazzy presentations to impress your boss or that hot co-worker. It does not have a USB port nor does it support multi-tasking.

What it does offer is a paradigm shift in how we access traditional media like newspapers, magazines, books, TV, DVD players, musicplayers, GPS devices and even photo frames. Most of you have a PC/Mac at home. What do you do with that 13"/14"/21" monster that occupies space, needs to be perpetually plugged in (especially annoying if you have a laptop with a geriatric battery)? If you are like me you probably surf the net, chat with buddies, watch movies, listen to music. I am sure you do not read reviews on Mouthshut.com at home when that can be so much more fruitfully done at the office.

You probably also have a TV, a DVD player, a subscription with Tata Sky+ or that useless joke endorsed by SRK, umpteen newspaper/magazine subscriptions and 4 books placed in a cubbyhole that you call your library. Now what if you could put all of this together in a 10" big device, weighing as much as the latest hard cover from Dan Brown. You would be able to take it to your car, your dining table, your bedroom and even the bathroom (this just for us guys) and read anything, watch anything and pretty much listen to anything. I see that you are getting interested now. Those of you who have owned an iPhone, will say I can do all this on my iPhone and to them I say of course you can do all this but have you ever? Lets face it, irrespective of how attractive and big the iPhone screen is, you would still prefer to do all the activities captioned above on devices custom made for these applications. The almost 10" screen on this device is sufficiently big for comfortable viewing of youtube videos and the occasional movie, the newspaper that sometimes does not arrive at time and the book that you have misplaced after paying almost 600 bucks for it. It does not come with a remote and you do not necessarily have to share it with your wife/sibling/parent or offspring while you are using it which makes it very personal as well. What do you say now? A little expensive at $500 to $830 depending on memory configurations but then this is a lifestyle device!

The obvious is out of the way so lets talk of alternative applications now:

1) You can have one perpetually plugged into your car's charging dock as a GPS device/DVD player.

2) Restaurants can use it for ordering.

3) Play games with and against buddies (think gaming groups forshoot 'em ups involving all your friends).

4) Chat with your bf/gf in the classroom without the tension of 75p per SMS.

5) A high tech teaching device as well and I am just getting started here!

Of course it could do with a camera, a USB port, a physical DVDdrive, a mouse, integrated physical keyboard, better battery life, a toaster, microwave etc. but then why would be pray to God for something better?
