Microsoft Office has always been the Software for making Documents for me.I have been using this software since it was launched and still using it now with the fact that Office2013 has also come but I still use Office 2007 just because I like the ease at which the software operates and the fell the look everything is just so user friendly.Some people like me still use this office 2007 and some times as me for this software.When ever I want to make a presentation I open powerpoint to make it it has got various tools that let you make presentation with minimum ease and in less time.The Excel is just to make Excels sheet to keep your records the most commenly used one by me is the Word.So if you have just taken a laptop or desktop then OFFICE should be the first toll to insatll

Miscrosoft office is a another brilliant application by Microsoft Inc.When I was in 12th standard I learn to use MS office first time and given training on MS office 2003.

After 2 years When I got my personal laptop and got MS office 2007.After starting MS office 2007, my reaction was what the hell is this.

They have given me some other office suite, they fooled me. After using and researching MS office 2007, I got to know that they made a lot of changes in it from 2003 to 2007.

Ms office 2007 was introduced in mid of 2006 with a new graphical user interface, which uses ribbons instead of drop down menu.

MS office minimum system requirement were Windows XP SP2 and upper versions OS. In 2007 office suite Miscrosoft has added Groove application which can be used for as a tool of communication for smaller businesses.

Initially, it was announced by Miscrosoft to support exporting MS documents and workbooks in PDF format, but after objections from Adobe Inc, they did not supported it.

I mostly use MS Excel and it was really a very great experience using MS office 2007 for almost 5+years before switching to MS Office 2010.

Very good and brilliant Application by Microsoft.

Go For it.But now Microsft has introduced MS office 2013, so better go for newer one.

Hello friend, I am doing the BASIC course and I also using the microsoft office 7. In the past we calculate the calculation on the notebook.

Smoother and new interface give an ultimate power over office suite. When I looked at the new interface and liked at first sight. One thing is that we can easily use and navigate the options with new interface. I had used powerpoint so much. in school and in college too. for making presentations. well the 2003 version was good. but the 2007 version is best. there are so many new features in 2007 version. and microsoft changes so many features in such a way that you can do that work in 2007 so easily and quickly as comapared to 2003 version. like example. is you want to change the font of a given line. in 2003. you have to select and click on the font that you  want to take. and if another to another select for another font. but now in 2007. you just select the text line. and move your cursor over the fonts. and the text fonts automatically changes. and you can decide quickly and easily. which font to choose.

A Great Software.

The latest version of Microsoft Office is 2013 and I use that one, so I will review just that. It is basically a productivity suite(of products) from Microsoft and it has components like excel, word which are the 2 most commonly used programs of this suite.

Microsoft Office is 2013 was released in year 2013 and hence the name. It is very similar to Microsoft Office 2010(it's previous version) but it is made compatible and easy to use with touch based devices.

Also, it is more cloud-oriented now, that is you need to create a Microsoft account and login now. That also makes it possible to sync your documents with other devices, that means you can access your documents from any registered machine as long as you can login to the Microsoft account.

They also extended support to some new and some old document formats. UI wise it boasts of a flatter and more tile-based screen which is easier to use on touch screens.

Verdict: You simply cannot live without Microsoft Office is 2013.

Microsoft office is one of the best software inventions by Microsoft all the versions in ms office like word, excel, power point and office tools these tools are very important in our daily life work.

There have been many versions in microsoft office but in my opinion 2007 version is the best version I have tried 2010 and 2013 versions the user interface is so simple in 2007 that it makes the top version basically microsoft office doesn't come along with microsoft operating system it needs to be bought separately which is bit costlier.

Microsoft has more often failed to surprise us with virtually very little to no change for the better on its Office series and the last one was the Office 2003 launched in the fall of 2002 which had all that the previous versions had with minor improvements with its oft repeated Mantra AESTHETICS. My pick was Enterprise for the lovely new package ofGroove and One note and the best part was it is less heavy than the previous version of Office 2003 unlike XP to Vista which puts heavy burden on your system speed. No compatibility issues here unlike the Vista and the reverse integration were always possible with old file formats.

Office 2007 Word-New imprint*

Ribbons, Ribbons everywhere and no drag downs and no extensive search. It’s all in front of you with distinct style and interface available in three funda colours-Blue, Black and silver. The first thing you will notice is the logo at the top left which will be a mystery until you know that it is the File’s epicenter and not the Home. The learning curve is quite steep but with so many simple beautiful small things taken care of like the single click styling, colouring and the right click ribbon that lets you do everything in one click. The emphasis is on icons and not textual messages which make your work faster and satisfying. The long toolbars have evaporated and what you have is tabs that have many icons. You can look at your page exactly the way it gets printed unlike print preview or just use the View tab for viewing multiple documents.

The essence of MS word 2007 is its beautiful graphic interface with colours and themes and plenty of wonderful templates to choose from with no pop ups, animations and cumbersome tools. No sidebars for references and viewing and one shot editing, conversion(to pdf) and mailing.

Office Excel 2007-excellent design*

Graphics design is the standpoint with emphasis on more acceptable colours and textures for tables, pivots and charts. Formatting adds flavor like an icing without having to go into toolbars with the drag down of colours and styles. The insert from the conventional 2003 has moved to an user interface adjacent to Home with ribbons which give highly presentable output of Tables and charts. You don’t have to select a format or template and just dragging them makes you visualize the final output before selecting them(Conditional formatting). Gone or the days when accountants have to use formulas keyed in and now it’s all in a jiffy with the Formula Icons. You will find the best use of Ribbons in Excel.

Office Power Point 2007-Powered for Cute Presentations*

Just one word to describe-awesome, the new Power point version compared to its predecessor where the essence has been aesthetics and present ability and where the choice is yours. The shapes, drawings and text all have moved up and many notches ahead where you can play with your slides to give that wow feel. Working on slide design and animation was never so user friendly and interactive. The ribbons come handy in slide additions and insertions and when done, slide show reviewing and finer manipulations are all a click away. The templates online has gone through a sea change.

Outlook 2007- Flagged version of 2003*

My best companion has been Outlook over other e mail client systems because of the safety and ease of maintaining 1000s of mails organized in a readable user interface compared to Outlook Express or Incredimail which take more space and are less secure. It is in 2007 MS outlook that you see the same old File tabs and you won’t see the ribbons until you open the individual mail with formats and features that appeal to you. My original preloaded Office 2007 trial on Vaio has pre loaded Business Contact Manager which is an excellent option to synchromise all your contacts. This feature is available only on Ultimate edition and I would say that it is a big mess up from MS to leave this which makes Outlook 2007 nothing beyond 2003 edition except the new Flags and Categories which helps in tagging and organizing your mails.MS claims that Outlook 2007 is more secure with its phishing filters for which I have been using QUIRB for ages.

Office 2007 One Note-Note worthy for MSians*

Yeah, I always wondered why MS does not come out with a notepad better than those stupid notepads and wordpads. One Note is the best feature on offer in the Enterprise edition because you just have to use it like a personal diary with scores and scores of info may it be on travel, ticketing, credit cards, passwords, research works, web notes and even MS reviews. You just have to dump them all and forget. Did I say forget, yes because it is as faith full as your dog and never misbehaves. It takes everything you enter and saves in itself in one single ONE NOTE FOLDER with sidebar to choose like Professional, Personal, Travelling, Planner, Miscellaneous and sundry. But don’t throw the dogpile of garbage in it.

*First look at the MS-Office 2007

Looks like the beta version of Office 2007 has been around for a long time and many would have already had many looks at the product. However, since I added this product on to Mouthshut, let me maintain this as first look! I always give this caption in every thing that I write on Softwares. I am not an expert, so that saves me a bit for not making any elaborate comments that suit experts or if something I say turns into mere blabbering. The theory what our own aam admi calls as ‘anticipatory bail’!

The first machine that I used had a 486 processor, Monochrome monitor, 4MB RAM and a 256 MB Hard disk! Now, just my RAM is 512 MB. In my childhood, I have seen software like Wordstar(word processor), Lotus-123(Spreadsheet), etc. Then came windows 3.1, which was just an application and not an OS! Then came the Windows 95, 98, ME, Xp and the most recent Vista. There were also software updates that could be at par to the improvements to the OS. From the times of Wordstar(Ofcourse, not Microsoft’s) to MS-Word 2007 all that Microsoft could drastically change from every release is the looks(primarily). We all know that. But, is there anything special on offer on this release, is what I wanted to find out.

I did not want to install the trial version, but I did want to check out how the new stuff is. MS gives an option for this, to operate MS-Office straight through the browser. It was almost like using it on the desktop. So, that helped me peep into how the new version was.(Link: https://office.microsoft.com)

What stands out …

Stylish appearance, menus just coming out from behind the screen like a bubble, the theme, and overall look and feel in Office 2007, one should say is a complete kick-ass. Though nothing is revolutionary, the look and feel has improved drastically.

Just modifying the look has been Microsoft’s tradition and it has been consistent in improving on the look yet again. However, on a quick look, it does appear like even the usability has improved for a change! This time Microsoft groups the menus into more logical entities. For instance, in Word 2007 inserting a comment would appear in a ‘Reviewing’ menu rather than the Insert menu. There are also quick menus that bubble out with relevant functions. And for any change we are about to apply through menus, the preview can be seen straight away on the document. There is no need to apply it to see how it has changed.

Overall, what I liked is the look and the increased in ease of usability. MS also provides ability to post blogs straight out from the document. So, it appears like everything will be simpler for sloggers at office and bloggers at home and vice-versa:)

Whats all new …

On a quick look, I could see:

• Different and easy to use menus The menus are not drop downs any more, but palettes from where you can select straight away.

• Ability to save the documents as pdf

• Post to blogs straight away from documents

• Previews straight away on the documents, even before applying the formatting and things

• Small things which were missing have been included, like say to insert a sheet in Excel you just have to click on the tab near the existing sheets. These make life easier than a right click or Insert menu to add a sheet

• Smart-art: a way to create graphs and diagrams and flowcharts quickly on the click of a button. It just inserts a template flowchart, which you can modify on a click.

• This time around looks like MS(not Mouthshut; Micro Soft!) has given a thought for compatibility for older version of Office as well.

• On Excel 2007, we can create something that MS calls as conditional formatting; like shading on a selected color for selected conditions(we should be writing macros on earlier version)

• On Outlook 2007 we could set customized out of office replies for internal contacts and external contacts

You can imagine similar features I guess. The features, which we would have thought missing on older versions, now appear to be present and give a satisfying feel. And for core techies, looks like there is good integration of Word into Infopath and Sharepoint and things(Sorry I don’t know what these are!)

Microsoft sells the package(Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) for around 400$ which is pretty costly. Just seeing all the features and on a best guess, I think the machine should have at least 1GB RAM to operate comfortably(Can only been known if we install it and check. I just tried the software online on the browser) If you can afford a machine with 1GB RAM, I think you would have the potential to buy Office worth$400:) … but there are always trial versions before you actually buy. Remember to keep you old MS-Office disks safe before you actually install. You cannot just uninstall Office 2007. You might have to re-install your older one, if you prefer not to buy.

If you did not understand a bit of what I was speaking about in the previous para, you should have been using pirated software throughout your life! Please learn from this moment that we can actually buy software:) Let us stop piracy on all counts, be it movies or music, or software.

To conclude … 

I have not been a great fan of Microsoft and its products so far. The product that I have liked so far of all MS products would be this recent Office 2007. Remember this is not a complete review, but just an overview in these early days of the product release. And because I liked it, I recommend you buy the software and tell me how it works;)
