Like many others in this country, I always used to prefer the "Plastic Money" for the ease that it offers. I had a Credit Card from ICICI. The same, later on, proved to be a nightmare for me.

They sent me a bill amounting to Rs. 33000/-, an amount I had never transacted for. The moment I realized I had lost my card and someone else had transacted on it, I approached the bank, wrote a Letter to them and even got an FIR registered for fraud. But nothing seemed to work. I was instead, being asked to pay the amount together with the interest. My bad days were not to end so soon. I was harassed by the recovery agents too. I realized how these banks are taking their customers for a ride.

My good karma’s balance must have enacted in my favour and I happened to meet Dr. Amitabha Sen, a seasoned lawyer practicing in Delhi, who has fought against such malpractices in the United States for several years. He assured me that I don’t have to pay anything to the bank. The bank was sent a Legal Notice and THAT WAS IT.

To be honest, for once I decided never to go in for a Credit Card again in my life. Thanks to Dr. Amitabha Sen’s incessant sincere efforts, I got reassured that there’s still hope for our country. People like him reassure me of making India a better place. Every time I use my Credit Card now [not ICICIs though], I am reminded of Edward Kennedy*
