I took a Vodafone postpaid connection under 3G postpaid plan. I could not even dream about breach of trust by Vodafone. Let me explain what happened.

When a bank decides on a credit limit for a Credit Card user, they intimate user by email, SMS or mail indicating maximum usage of Credit Limit. This is an ethical practice followed by a bank.

First, it is non-ethical practice by Vodafone to take advantage of situation from a new customer, whose  service for account number 1.39959784(mobile no. 9836410445) was activated on 19-July-2012.

August 2012 Invoice amount was Rs. 462.13 and new Credit Limit in this Invoice was Rs. 1, 500

September 2012 Invoice amount was Rs. 1, 080.30 and new Credit Limit in this Invoice was Rs. 6, 200

October 2012 Invoice amount was Rs. 10, 606.06 and new Credit Limit in this Invoice was Rs. 7, 800

Should Vodafone allow my usage to exceed Rs. 1, 500/ -?

But, they amended my credit  Limit to Rs. 7, 800 from Rs. 1, 500 in just 2 months without any intimation or permission from me, in order to bill more.

It must be noted that when banks assign credit limit on Credit Cards or Personal Loans, they take extreme precaution considering recovery of amount, because these are unsecured credit. I had paid NIL on  security deposit. How could they decide my credit limit to exceed Rs. 2, 000?

I have shame on Vodafone, this would not be legitimate way of extortion.

They sent me an Invoice of Rs. 10, 606.06/-  Now, I  have closed this connection and never intend to use 3G postpaid connection from Vodafone. I am sure such case would happen with another Vodafone customer. Thank God, I took this decision early, otherwise I would have received Invoice of Rs. 50, 000 next month from Vodafone.

Second, it is their technical incompetence which led to inaccurate billing. When Credit Limit was Rs. 6, 200, how Invoice amount of Rs. 10, 606.06/- was generated?

Every educated person knows that Invoice amount can not be greater than assigned Credit Limit.

So, this was business conspiracy. And I am held responsible for using services from Vodafone.

Third, I had disputed this Invoice with highest authority of Vodafone, Appellate Authority and explained aforesaid in detail via email assuming they would read customer's problems. I was surprised they did not read my problem and explained how bill was calculated and assumed I did not know Basic Mathematical calculations. They refused it by saying following on 25 Oct 2012: -

In the recent past we have been in receipt of many complaints from your end, many of which are repetitive in nature. The said e-mails were duly replied to you by us with complete details as was desired by you from time to time. We therefore regret that we are unable to give any further response to your repetitive complaints and request you to refrain from making frivolous complaints. **

There is nobody in Vodafone who can listen to me.

So, I sincerely denounce this non-ethical practice from Vodafone and I also pledge to read reviews on Mouthshut.com before buying any service from Vodafone.

With thanks,

Sukumar
