I used to laugh at people who said to me that cold weather causes drying and chafing of skin especially in the facial region;because when I was little I had extremely oily skin and was not affected by cold weather.
When I reached college I did suffer from the effects of cold weather, skin was peeling of chin and my lips were broken and stinging so I used vaseline;
I think it costs Rs 35 for a small 50 gram pack;what it basically does is it moisturizes the affected region preventing further damage.
And while it does not heal the broken skin it stops the damage in its tracks in that period so that the new skin can grow back over the damaged region. It basically stopped lip chafing and skin dryness for me.
There are many cold creams who do the same but since vaseline is a household hold name because of the huge ad campaigns in the early 90's everyone uses them. Does what it says so I will recommend it better alternatives available in the market.
