Concerns of Safety of Driving a Toyota Etios Liva Car using MRF(ZVTV) Tyres.

Brand New Toyota Etios Liva Car Tyre(MRF ZVTV) Sidewall Cracks within 5 kms

of driving on Delhi roads from Toyota Showroom to my Home in Vasant Vihar.

Toyota Motors needs to take-up this issue directly with MRF Tyres.

I took delivery of a Toyota Etios Liva on 29-Aug-2013. Thereafter, I drove from the Galaxy Toyota Showroom in Vasant Square Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi to my home in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi – a distance of about 5 kms. When I reached home, to my dismay & horror I found the front Left Tyre absolutely Flat with the Sidewall cracked. Just imagine my predicament & trauma at finding an absolutely Brand New Car with a totally Flat Tyre with the Tyre Sidewall Cracked! And, there was no mark or damage to the tyre-rim and/or car.

In all probability the said MRF(ZVTV) tyre seems to have an inherently weak tyre-side-wall or had a defect. Thus, resulting in my Safety being compromised and exposing me to such a traumatic experience.

The apprehension is particularly in view of the following observations:

  1. The MRF ZVTV Tyre, in question, is not a monolithic / single-piece structure. It has atleast one or more joints.

  2. As seen by actual close visual observation, the Crack/Cut in the Tyre Sidewall is in line with a Joint in the Tyre. Attached for your perusal:Photo & Video of the damaged tyre.

3.From the above, that is actual close visual observation, it seems that the Tyre Sidewall has'Opened-up / Cracked' at the Joint due to some inherent Defect.

Toyota Motors needs to specifchandru021y Note that as this concerns a Brand-New Toyota Etios Liva CarToyota fitted with MRF tyres as OE, it is incumbent on Toyota Motors to seriously take-up this issue with MRF tyres, particularly as it Concerns Safety of Driving a Toyota Etios Liva Car using MRF(ZVTV) tyres. And, as a direct outcome Toyota Motors gets a Bad Name & Loss of Reputation and Loss of Customer Satisfaction, because of supplying MRF Tyres as Original Equipment. As can be seen from the attached Photo of the damaged tyre, the Crack/Cut in the Tyre Sidewall is in line with a Joint in the Tyre, that is along the mould joint.

Thanks & best wishes,
