Airtel billing problems

I have been using Airtel DSL for around 2 years now. I initially enrolled for the Rs. 995/- monthy plan for 128Kbps download speed. They automatically switched me over to 256 Kpbs at the beginning of this year without my consent. Also. since this switch I started having trouble with my bills. Previously I used to get charged 995/- per month + modem rental + any overage but since the switch they have started charging me 995+modem rental+per hour charge for online activity. My bills have ballooned from approx 1000Rs to 3000Rs because of this. I tried to call Airtel number of times but they just make you run pillar from post and keep switching from one department from another.


In addition to this I found the customer service utterly incompetent when it comes to billing enquiry. those idiots (I don't know if they are even 12th class pass) don't understand simple maths. Also, they dont know about internet or how data is exchanges on DSL and how one is supposed to get charged. All they want to do is make you switch to another costlier package.


I have finally given up and I have applied for MTNL service. I know MTNL customer service sucks but atleast I will get charged properly.
