I have travelled across the world in many countries. It is observed that the petrol prices in India are very high compared to the prices in other countries. (Even converting it to US$. There are many reasons for this. It is better not to go in more details. But recently (for last two years) the Petrolium companies have started advertising on media like TV cahnnels, Magazines, news papers etc. The advertisements appear to be quite expensive. The cost of advertising in these medias is also very high. It is difficult to understand the reason behind advertising petrolium based products. No one will be very keen to fill the tank after watching the advertisement of a particular company. Everybody driving any vehicle will always keep an eye on the fuel indicator and as the level comes down, will reach to the nearest petrol pump and get the tank filled. The cost of advertisement will be eventually recovered from the consumer and for no reason he will have to spend some amount for the advertisement. Therefore the companies should stop advertising such products which will tax the consumer with no added benefit to him. Secondly all the fuel companies are owned by the government (except Reliance). Therefore whatever the revenue generated, will finally go to the treasury of Govt. Hence I suggest the viewers of this article should stop using the fuel of the companies who spend more and more in advertising and contribute to the price hike.
