There's no denying, we all are fond of food, and the smell or sight of good food, triggers our gastric juices right away..!!
Whether we eat for the sake of eating, or eat to cater to our hunger pangs,
irresistable aroma and that tangy look, elevate up the dish 10 rungs higher..!!
Here are some variations to the top ten favourites:
- Fruit bhel:
Dice up some strawberries, grapes, kiwi, pineapple and mango slices on a
drab looking plain bhel. dress it up with minutely cut tomato ,onion,
corriander leaves, amchur powder and tomato sauce, and a touch of
tamarind sauce. Mix them all up to a uniform togetherness..!!
Serve on white chinaware, topped with a cut cherry on top..!!
See it disappear..!!
- Keep your mixie jar on the countertop. Fill the jar with avacado, onion,
carrot pieces, lemon juice and corriander leaves. sprinke corriander
powder, chilli powder, shredded cheese and salt.
Grind to a paste. Cut a fresh breadloaf lenghthwise into thin slices and
apply the spread evenly.
Roll the slice till complete, and cut into medium thin circles.
Serve these avacado pinwheel sandwiches with a tangy sauce..!!

- Grind a bunch of strawberries, milk, sugar, rose essence and elaichi with
crushed ice in a mixie and empty it in a tall glass. Use an icing gun to
make a whirlpool of fresh cream on top. Place a halfcut cherry on top of
the cream and serve with a pink paper umbrella. See a couple of them
faint..!
Replace strawberries with blueberries to get that shocking purple look. ..!
Never seen a smoothier smoothie..!!
- A real quickie... Dry toast two bread slices in a toaster. On a white
chinaware, place a slice. Place 2 layers of lettuce on top. Alternate it with
thin layers of cut tomato, cucumber and red pepper.
Sprinkle green or black olives and some pepper on top. Add a touch of
tomato sauce. Complete the topping with 2 layers of lettuce. Apply some
butter to the bread slice and place it on top. Cut it into four equal halves..!
Viola, I just saw it on my plate .. where the heck is it..!!??
- Desert time: Lightly mix fresh cream and mango paste. Pour it carelessly
on a scoop of vanilla icecream served in a cut glass bowl. Squeeze
chocolate syrup in small light circles on top. Place two crisp vanilla
flavoured wafers, cut into triangular halves..!! Hey..!! Wait..!! That was
for me..!!
- Add a cup of grated kaddu and milk to a hot pan glazed with ghee and
ignore it for 5 minutes. Once done, add 2 tablespoons of khoya and 1/2
cup sugar. Brush it with powdered elaichi and a spoonful of grated
beetroot for that glamorous look, and stir for 2 minutes. Empty out on a
small glass bowl. Sprinkle with walnuts, switch off your cellphone and
enjoy..!!
- Soak a small cup of poha in a bowl with water. Light fry onion,
grated carrot, peas, green chillies, ginger, and freshly cut tender beans
(all one tea spoon) for 1/2 minute. Add poha, salt, corriander leaves
and mix well . Squeeze 1/2 lemon and a pinch of sugar for that
suspense taste. Serve yourself a generous share on a stainless
steel cup. Add a touch of groundnuts if you like,
and forget the world...!!
- Fry half a cup of sooji in 2 tablespoon oil and keep aside. Stir fry mixed
veggies with curry leaves, salt, green chillies, ginger and tomato pieces
in hot oil seasoned with mustard seeds and Urad daal (each a small
spoon ), and add 2 cups water. In this boiling mixture slowly add fried
sooji and mix till it absorbs all water. Add two more tables spoons of olive
oil and mix to completion. Take a couple of spoons of this veggie upma
in an apple shaped bowl and press it lightly. Empty it upside down on a
small plate. This delicious uppma takes an apple shape. Decorate with
one cashew on top, pamper it with a dash of ghee and your moghlai
uppma is ready to go..!!
- Place a small apple on a glass plate and punch it with 20 tooth picks.
In each toothpick insert grapes ( green and black ), alternated with
blueberries, cherries and strawberries. Sprinkle chaat masaala on top,
and settle down to watch your favourite TV soaps...!!
- Make a paste of 2 tablespoon gram flour, 2 table spoon rice flour, a
pinch of soda, chilli powder, salt and ajwain. Dip cauliflower flowerettes
in this mix and deep fry till golden brown. Arrange in toothpicks and
savour them with a mix of chilli tamarind sauce...!!
Do not answer the doorbell or phone, when you are busy enjoying this
hep pakoda...!!!
