Empowered by education - yet bound by tradition!

Women playing many roles - good or bad?

It is heartening to see more and more women working for good companies and doing a good job. The points of concern though are as follows

  • There are no doubts about women's efficiencies but all said and done - managing kids is something for which a woman is indispensable

  • While education has empowered women - tradition has still bound them

Women still are supposed to cook and do lots of other chores(I am not generalising but am quoting my observations)

  • Where will the men go?

Ok- women are better - but no man however illiterate he is is relieved of the burden or the responsibility to earn bread and butter

In such a society and scenario job is much more critical for a man as compared to a woman

A man sitting at home is something society is not used to

I still believe women can play many roles and all very efficiently.

However overlapping of roles in a time poor schedule creates problems in the house especially if there is a joint family.

The only sad part is that tradition still expects them to do routine chores and also expects men to work

If there are positive changes here, we will have best of both worlds and more educated women will not get upset after marriage where they can't pursue what they wish to

Do comment on this as I would like to learn whether this made sense or not

Thanks and regards
