There are gaps for air ventilation on the top or sides of monitor, that should remain open so that the heat generated inside the monitor will not damage the monitor.
Remove accumulated dust on monitor screen and ventilation gaps periodically.
Damage caused by an electrical spike ordinarily isn’t covered by manufacturer warranties hence a good quality surge protector need to be used.
Keep your monitor screen on whenever necessary, if some long duration process is going on, and you are not having any other work to do on computer then you can put your monitor screen on sleep mode
