Hi, I bought Indica Xeta 2007 last month and here to tell you my experience I won't bore you with usual features etcWhy I selected Xeta?Well, I did research for abt 1 month or so and zeroed on Xeta My requirements: a small car within 4L budget, decent space to fit in atleast 4-5 adults, good suspension and handling, stable & comfortable for occasional long drives, mileage - ready to compromise a bit for powerI test drove WagonR LPG/Santro/Alto but didn't like them Here's a quick summary of my view:WagonR : + Maruti brand name, quite spacious for 4 adults, LPG fitting with warrenty, Immobiliser
high price (atleast 1L more on onroad price), boxy shape, poor visibility, bad suspensionAlto:
Maruti brand name, easy to drive within city, good mileage
High price (same onroad price as Indica Xeta), definitely for only 4 adults, not comfortable on highways, bad suspensionSantro:
trusted, very comfortable to drive in city/occasional highways
not spacious/comfortable enough, pricing same as WagonrIndica Xeta:
spacious, comfortable on city/highway, powerful, Good A/c and suspension, value for money (low onroad price)
Tata cars are known for bugs, service is not goodI selected Xeta mainly because it is very spacious, has decent power, very comfortable in city/highway and most importantly comes for the price of/lesser than onroad price of Alto (A/c + PS version) I knew there are some negative points such as bad service and build quality but decided to make a compromise on them Since I target to drive abt 10k km a year, I can easily drive for 3-4 yrs to break-even with price for wagonr LPG
Then I'll have an option of going for LPG kit since Warrenty would have expiredChoosing a dealer & timing the purchase:-I did some research on this too and realised that Prerana motors in Bangalore is better out of other two To get more bargain power, I decided to visit other dealers first and know their best offers I made a point to wait for month end to get best offers I feel I got a good deal at Prerana, saved atleast 10k more than what other dealers had to offer Got GLS with Sony system/speakers, central remote lock, ext warrenty, all basic accessories like mats, seat covers etc for 325LMy experience with the dealer:-
I was received warmly but had to wait for 15 min or so because another customer came in for Indigo high end model I expected such things to happen and made strong protest I bargained like in a fish market with prior data from other dealers and that rewarded me I booked instantly and was given the delivery after 3 daysFirst of all, I made a mistake of taking the delivery in the night Pl ensure that you keep sufficient amount of time during the day to get the delivery Wary of defects.
I spent atleast 2 hrs checking all the functionalities but still missed few minor glitches due to darkness, which I'm planning to get fixed during first service As expected, they missed fitting left OVRM though I paid for thatMy experience with the car:Well, the car is good & very powerful Mileage around 11 kmpl after 250 km I hope it improves as I'm right now using the clutch more and mostly lower gears It's definitely spacious and comfortable But I don't see great difference in terms of suspension against Maruti cars but it's definitely better The plastics look bit cheap but ok for the price paid :-) Yet to go for long drive to feel the real pictureI'll keep posting the updates to help you
