Extremely Disappointing Experience with TATA AIG Beware of Misinformation and Poor Service
My husband and I purchased a health insurance policy from TATA AIG in September 2024, trusting the sales teams claims about the coverage it offered. Before purchasing, we made sure to ask detailed questions about what was and wasnt covered. Unfortunately, we soon realized that we had been misled.
Misleading Information & Mis-Selling
One of the biggest disappointments was discovering that a hospital listed in TATA AIGs network was, in fact, not covered. This was a clear case of mis-selling, leaving us feeling instantly regretful.
Inefficient and Unhelpful Customer Support
Every interaction with their customer support was frustrating. No representative seemed to have any knowledge of my previous conversations, forcing me to explain my case repeatedly. Instead of addressing my concerns, they repeatedly sent generic, templated responses stating that my claim was rejected based on "policy and procedures."
Unjust Policy Clause A Serious Health Risk
A particularly shocking clause in the policy states that fibroids cannot be operated on for two years after purchasing the policy. This raises serious concernswhat if the condition is life-threatening?
In my case, after experiencing abdominal discomfort, tests revealed that I needed urgent surgery. Thankfully, I underwent the procedure in time and had four large fibroids(each the size of a potato, totalling 1 kilogram) removed. Had I waited two years, as required by TATA AIGs policy, the consequences to my health could have been severe.
False Assurance & Claim Rejection
Adding to the frustration, multiple company representatives persuaded me to pay out-of-pocket and assured me I could claim reimbursement later only to have my claim rejected. This raises serious questions:
1. What about the mis-sold policy?
2. Why was misinformation consistently provided by different staff members?
3. Why were we advised to pay upfront for a claim that was bound to be rejected?
4. Will the company review call recordings to acknowledge the misinformation?
Due to these serious concerns, I have now registered a formal complaint with the IRDAI against TATA AIG.
Final Verdict: Avoid This Insurance Company
TATA AIGs poor service, misleading sales tactics, and lack of accountability make it one of the worst insurance companies to deal with. If I could, I would give them zero stars. Do not fall for their false promises!
