Serials like Star Voice of India and such other shows are nothing more than a parasitical business venture feeding on the hopes of thousands of hopefuls! And it is a platform for those who have mastered the art of business of art(in this case music) to sit and pamper their egos by passing complimentary and often non-complimentary comments on the unsuspecting participants of such shows and while doing so probably act God!
It is a tragedy that because there is no institutional path for Artistic talent to flower in India, thousands throng to these shows hoping to make it big. I would like to remind them that except for making crores by making them perform for free, these shows are not doing anything worthwhile. I am yet to hear any success story not only from these shows but one from anywhere else in the World fromsimilar shows. And yet you have other success stories like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who did not need any platform to become a success story. In fact the host of Star Voice of India, Shaan, himself did not evolve from any such platform, but by working hard, by making albums and singing odd lines in movies.
Here is a thought, imagine if one of them does become a Star Voice of India! Do you think that with the experience they go through such shows will be enough for them to become successful! You have many examples of Abhijeet Sawant, Qazi Touqeer, Rooprekha etc. who are lost and nowhere to be heard of.
And less said the better of the Judges! These self proclaimed judges of the aspiring talent of this country need to remind themselves that their status is decided every Friday by the Public of this Country. I am not surprised that Abhijeet & Aadesh are there, but I am definitely surprised that Alka Yagnik is there. Gentlemen and Lady, please do not destroy your brand so cheaply. Do it by producing music, if you have to.
Wake Up! There is no shortcut to success! If you really have the talent, it will eventually show!
