I was going to travel by air deccan from Delhi to Jodhpur on the 26 may 2007, My friends had
adviced me that the experience with this airline would be the worst you could expect and so it happened. The flight was delayed by over 3 hours and then cancelled, due the fact that they airline was unable to land at the destination in the night.
My tickets were booked back and forth on the same airline. After the flight was cancelledthe check in staff offered to reschedule the ticket for the next day, I agreed to it and was fine with it as long as I get to my destination. My ordeal had just began like other passengers on the flight.
Surprise 1 - The check in staff does not know that they don't have any filghts next day and the day after.
Surprise 2 - My luggage was damaged when it was returned to me.
Surprise 3 - They could reschedlue my ticket for monday and I can fly back on Tuesday.
Surprise 4 - I cannot rescedule the ticktes for a different sector or dates beyond a week from my orginal flight date.
Surprise 5 - I can get a full refund for my ticket from Delhi to Jodhpur but not for the ticket from Jodhpur to Delhi as that flight has not yet been cancelled. That so stupid of them, why would I go ahead and pay for my return tickets when in the first place I can't reach that place. I can't reach there not today, tommorrow, but on monday and stay their for a 12 hours and then fly back.
Their reason - They are not responsible for the flight from delhi to Jodhpur, well hello I am flying with the same Airline.
At the airport I noticed one thing, all other low cost fliers - go air, indigo spice jet were concerned as to where there passengers were, they were running back and forth to make sure they get all the people on board. While their was congestion in the AIr as per Air Deccan, all other flight were flying out on time.
The staff was constently saying that the flight might get grounded due to technical reason as they are not sure if the Aircraft would make it to the destination.
If you have a grudge with some one or really want to screw someones vacation, suggest them Air Deccan with sugar coated words and then enjoy their story after the vacation.
I look forward to seeing the news of the company being sold out to it competitors, then only they will change and the old (Read Management Team) can relax in peace and enjoy their retirement.
