I visited Siliguri today after almost 2 years. I must say this place has changed a lot and not less than any major metro city. Almost everything available. You name the brand and you get it out here.
Siliguri is a base for the people travelling to the northern hill station like Darjeeling. City is strategically located at the international boarders like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. It's a hub for business too because people staying on the hill station are purely dependent on all the daily necessity supply from this place.
As it's a base of hill stations many luxurious hotels has come up in the city. Nearest airport is Bagdogra airport which is almost 15 kms from the main city. New Jalpaiguri the the station to come to Siliguri by train.
Because of tourist attraction this place is now over crowded but worth visiting.
