Not Satisfied with the Approach of Online Studying. Review on Salt Lake School, Salt Lake City, Kolkata

At first I got to know about these online classes more efficient when my sister got to me with her school projects. Students were given so much home projects with new studying materials provided in whatsapp which are out of syllabus. That's too intense for a kid's brain as it also needs some rest in midst the monotonous lectures through online conversation apps. Her projects and notes were doubting me, so I preffered to talk with some of the students' guardians of Salt Lake School regarding the education which is been imparted by the school during Covid-19 pandemic. Some students hardly manages to attend the morning classes by sitting on the terrace of their houses due to lack of connectivity on the ground floor. Obviously, people living in urban areas have better internet connection. Students were not either mentally prepared for the sudden transformation of regular school into regular pressurized online classes. During the lockdown, teachers decided to take classes through zoom app and email them the rest of the readings. That was the real trouble as many had poor internet connection. Also the application goes on reconnecting after every 1 min. of lecture. Next due to security concerns, the teachers shifted the classes to Google meet and other such apps. Due to connection problems, many students missed important chapter lectures from the syllabus. The teachers were also facing problems as they were not used to this method of teaching previously. By everyone's luck, they were not in their University or classrooms and as per the teachers, it was great to remain within the confinment of homes and use technology to interact with students. It may be not a bigger issue for the teachers, but the students who are going through a lot of anxiety and stress this time really worries one. Some of them do not have proper resources and laptops or smartphones with wi-fi at home. The response from the teachers were very positive as they sent the students readings and extended the date of submission of their assignments. Proper teacher-student interaction gets hampered this way of teaching as the administration is too poor to meet the demands of every students and guardians. School authority should look into this matter.
