One of the worst experiences with Nephrology dept. my mom's creatinine levels had increased due to infection, doc created a panic situation to start dialysis on emergency with a temp catheter which can be kept only for a week. On follow up consultation we were told, since she needed to continue dialysis they would insert another catheter which would last 6 months, meanwhile preparing for fistula which is for permanent Hemo dialysis. When we tried second opinion with St.John's she was monitored for her values and symptoms last 3 months without having to undergo dialysis. It is very shameful act of trying to squeeze money multiple times and patient undergoing anxiety and stress through the entire process. When asked about Peritoneal or home dialysis In Sakra, I wasn't even given the option becoz hospital would not make money in this process which allows flexibility and ease for patients. All in all it is very disheartening to see such a noble profession treated as business with goals to make money for the hospital. Doctors in private hospitals, we treat you equivalent to saviours next to god, so respect and practice with ethics.
