Sakra has good facilities, doctors and staff, but is very poorly managed. My mother in law was admitted to their ICU under Neurosciences. After a day in the ICU, she was moved to a private room, where she developed a cardio problem(Atrial Fibrillation, or irregular heart beats). The doctor suspected that she may already have had a mild heart attack; we had to request him to do a Trop Test, which they did, and the value was very high(0.94!), indicating that she may have had a "heart event". When the cardiologist came on his round next day, the nurse on duty did not show him the trop test report! When asked, she explained that the senior doctor did not yet sign it! The coordination between departments was very poor and slow. On several occasions during nighttime when her heart beats shot up alarmingly, and we wanted a cardiologist to attend to the emergency, the Cardiologist on duty showed up after over an hour! Even after the doctors became aware of her cardiac problem, they tried to explain to us that there was nothing to worry about, and did not move her to the ICU again. Only when her heartbeats continued to wildly fluctuate, and frequently shot up to dangerous levels, they finally moved her to the ICU, after several hours.
On one occasion, when a technician who took her ECG, it didn't come out correct(the technician said the patient had moved!). We asked him to repeat the ECG, but he refused, saying that he would only do this if the doctor asked him to. Eventually when the doctor saw the ECG, he was very annoyed and asked for the ECG to be repeated! Then they found that ECG machine was not working properly, and had to get another!
The dietician prescribed a certain specific diet plan, but what they got was completely different. The quality of food served was terrible; there seem to be no quality checks.
The Hospital proudly claims to have Japanese DNA, but the only Japanese evidence we could see were nice photos of Cherry Blossoms, Mount Fujiyama, etc.; stuck prominently to indicate they have a Japanese connection!
Having said this, they do have the best doctors, nursing staff and other staff. It seems to be clear case of poor management, systems and processes.
