Reth....the ultimate soap with maximum lather. Review on Reth

Serials and Soaps can be paralled with detergents or handwash soaps...!!

Both of them lather too much, beyond which, wiping them off us seems tough..!!

But Reth, has reached beyond saturation, and has left us numb ( dumb..?)..!!

We eagerly participated in the world of the delicate Zia - her doting husband Shekhar, her loving inlaws, and her fond mother.

As Shekhar gets entrapped into an affair with Nethra - an actress ( this one has too much time on her hands .! ), he looks perennially confused ( not sure if he really is or has been asked to look the part by the director ). On one hand he is loyal to Zia and on the other hand, is speechless when confronted by Nethra..!! (??)

Not knowing how to lather this soap beyond this point, the obedient Zia is replaced by another actress who manages to look independent and self respecting. This replacement makes Shekhar more confused as he cannot face the honesty in the new Zia's eyes..!!!???

While Nethra gets bolder in her advances, Zia becomes more self respecting, sensing the happenings around her.This much of the story was dragged on to several episodes, with dramatic background music, every action being replayed in slow motion ( minimum three times..!! ).

Exhausted , I gave up and logged on to more absorbing(?) serials. When I revisited this serial after many months, the complexity of the lather had crossed limits. We had Zia being engaged to Shom, Nethra married to Shekhar but crossing over to greener pastures like Shekhar's brother, and Shekhar being replaced with another actor..!! Wow..!! If all actors are replaced in a soap, so frequently, how do we relate to them..???!!!

To top it all, we had a Zia lookalike.......Nisna....!!! Ah..! This was the limit...!!

We now have, Nisna taking over Zia in her inlaw's home and the real Zia being imprisoned..!!

Zia's father in law believes more in Nisna - as the real Zia, while Zia tries to scream her lungs out....that she is the real one...!!

How original and how absorbing...!! (???)

The last episode made me take an oath that I will eliminate Reth from my memory..!! We had Nisna convincing her inlaws that she is for Shekhar only, and we then witness, a new form of marriage ( Saat Pheras ( or a joke ..?) )..!!

Nisna, in the company of her inlaws, marries Shekhar, when he is in coma...!!??? Eeeekk..!!......giggle...giggle...

Is this legal...?? There are so many patients in Coma, in the ICU units, in several hospitals. Imagine if people start getting married to them..!!!

And this hospital, too filmy for our liking, has no objection to this strange drama, occurring in their ICU units..!!

Which hospital is this..?? What a novel way of treating patients in ICU..??

And lo behold..!! This treatment worked..!! Much to the amazement of Shekhar's family members and much to Nisna's dislike, Shekhar regains his consciousness and stares quizzically at all the drama around him..!!

We extend our gratitude and appreciation for lathering such soaps..!!
