A brief look at Remix. Review on Remixes Vs The Original

Remix Songs of old indian films is the current burning issue in india.well there are plenty of reasons why many people don't like the Remix songs. Some reasons are Explicite/Say vulgar Videos e.g.(Kaanta lagaa/Berry Ke ber/Chadhti jawani) etc. Royalty fees & Ownership rights are also the reasons.

History:-

Well we look at the history First, Before Remix Trend hits Music industry Radio Edit versions were created to arrange the song in minimum time for Radio promotions. BBC was the first Radio station to present the Radio jockey & Radio Edits. As these Radio Edits were short/catchy/Fast for public performance, Many Producers/Music Directors created Radio versions of thier song. Then Re-Version process started by artists who wants to present the song in diffrent way/Mode & Remix generation started.

Remix How?

While in Europe or maybe in U.S.A(Not sure about USA) the Remixing is done in legal way by most of Reputed artists. They obtain Master Copies of Audio Track, Signs deal with Author of the song & agrees to pay few percent of royalities. This Sampling Deal is known as Intellectual Property rights.While in india Royality is paid to Music Studio rather than Origianl Artist. This is the point where issue started.also Remix created/Posted by independent musicians on Websites like Dmusic.com/1sound.com/Vitaminic.com are considered as Demo mixes which are allowed for internet distribution but CD Distribution requires Sampling royalities agreement.

illegal copying?

Well I can write so many pages on this topic.Copying is Human's tendency, Like MonKey right.Even Bill gates is Copy-cat who is stealing GUI/OS features from Apple computer(Macintosh OS).Copying is also a skill requires lot of practice/undestanding of perticaular subject whose copying is about to be done.Otherwise Copycat will face many problems(e.g Bill gates facing Many Steability/Security problems).Well in music industry Annu Malik, Bappi Lahiri, Sandeep Chowta & more are Copycats.

Annu Malik copied many foriegn tracks and mixed/compiled them in film songs some mix works while some mixes falls down.Bappi lahiri is excellent copy-cat artist who understands this concept very well.His song'Zoobi-Zoobi'is actually a copy of'Brother Loui' by Modern Talking.Many of his songs revolves arround Modern Talking Music style.What is illegal then? illegal copying is when you create another version of artists song without notifying artist.

Remix What's New?

Well many Remixes created now a days are not Mixes actaully, They sound so poor, the change is only few effects/Vulgar vocals/Drumbeats & Rest of Remix is taken over by Vulgar video.Hey voila your mix is climbing hit chart.Artists like DJ Doll, Harry anand, UMI & TSeries audio engineers are importing some foriegn Techno/DNB/Trance beats & compiling/presenting with Video & Cashing in.No skill needed any child who understands Sequencing software can do the job.As opposite to this Artists like Dj suketu, Dj akbar sami, Nasha, Aqueel are working Hard on tracks with diffrent approach.Thier music is quite diffrent.Aqueel imports some beats from outside but His Compilation/Presentation is excellent.

Origianls or Remixes?

Originals Tracks sounds well if we think about Old indian film music but some of thier Remix versions are good to hear.but in anyway'Old is gold'.Origial songs like'Jane ja dundhata fir raha', &'Farz theme' are still Hit songs.Remixes like'Pyar zindagi Hai(Dj suketu), 'Jalwa'(Akbar Sami & Various Artists) are also good songs.

A.R.Rahman also tries to create something new & he is good music producer.Take my word Remix songs are not that Bad at all.Song like'Desert Rose-Sting(Club Mix) sounds better than original one.Afterall Originals will survive only if Remixes are there.They are depend on each other.it is like Good & Evil.Well Evil is not wrong all time.as Both Powers when combine creates a perfect Human.Haha! Joking.

Well I don't wanna blame anyone for Copying or Making Remixes but I would like to clear point that Video Directors to change thier strategy To create Normal Videos rather than Vulgar/Explicite.Yes it is marketing startegy to attract audience but there are other ways too.If they stop making such videos I think this problem will be solved 50% & Rest will be only Sampling royality issue.Well I can understand many Seniour singers are against the Remixes but We can only adjust with Royalties but can't convience them if they are emotionally envolved in song.If they are against Remixes this way means any third person can't sing their song, only plays in Record player.This brings out the issue of freedom of speech.anyway let's hope everything turns to normal.

What is Remix Technically?

Well I don't know the technial terms But Remix is derivative version of Origianl song keeping lyrics same & change in intro/build-ups & outro's.In this process

Bass, Drumbeats are totally or partly changed.Synth tunes are added or excluded in song.Genres Original vocals are kept within buld-up part of the song.New vocals are added depends upon the artist.Short silence & building up melody is used depends on song.Well this type of Hard work usually sounds great.Making Remix is art & not anyone from round the corner achieve it.Remix is all about understanding your genre & perticular Song whose mix you are preparing.Now we will talk about copyrights before making Mixes, Copyright Info can be accessed from Following Sites:-https://ascap.com, https://bmi.com, https://sesac.com, https://lcweb.loc.gov

Well Remixes can be heard from many sources, First obvious is Music store near you.Other sources are Clubs/Internet Websites.Websites like Acidplanet.com, Vitaminic.com, 1sound.com, gloablbeatz.net, musicbuilder.com, garbageband.com dmusic.com are featuring many independent artist with original music as well as Remixes & promoting thier music for free.(Independent Means artists without Recording Lable companies e.g.sony, virgin, universal etc they are Recording/Mastering/Promoting on thier own) Well there are many genres featured on these sites.You can listen to thier songs & Rate them/give feedback to them.This way you will really help many artists out thier to improve.

I can give you a big list of Electronica songs you can contact me via email. Well Tunnel trance force/Euro dance Hits CD's are excellent to hear but not available in india.You can purchase them online. Mp3.com is dead but there are more so Use google to find out.

Finally Origianl vs Remix Match is Drawn as much as I think. Both served thier purpose succesfully in this world.
