Revie on Rajv Gandhi/Nagerhole Nation Park . Review on Rajiv Gandhi National Park

I am chandra sekhar I had been seeing about the place since last 2 year but never dared as all the hotels like Kabani river lodge /Jungle Inn etc etc are costing too high about 3500 to 6000 per person they are good but I don't have that much budget

Finally one of my friend gave the me the address of a Home stay which charged 600 rs per person including food and campfire so I decided to make it up after seeing the photos

Journey to Nagerhole Via Car

My Journey started from Bangalore early Morning at 6:00 AM me my wife and my 2year old daughter and my father and Mother . it was a cool morning month of Jan 2008 .My review is most concentrated on Road/Accommodation and the indepts of the park

From the Sringrapatnam we have to take the deviation towards Hunsur via Rangantittu bird sanctuary (never cared to stop over there as I had already seen if u have not better vist once it is good) . From Sringapatnam to Hunur is 47 Km with a Mixed road some time good speed of 80 to 100 and some time between 40 to 60 . From Hunsur the person of the home stay told me to take via Murukal Road Not via H D Kota .(Check at the hunsur abt it) we left to Nagerhole via Murukal Road approximately 15 to 20 KM from there we reached the veeranhalli gate(THe gate of Nagerhole National Park) . Entered the details of my vechile over the check post NO HORN /NO Music/No Parking the gate is open form 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and guess what it is just 38 to 40 KM drive on the thick Forest of NAGERHOLE NATIONAL PARK.

Out of 38KM the first 20 Km road was good where ur vechicle can go at a minum speed of 60 to 70 but the last streach of 18KM was not that good speed limit 30 to 50 KM per hr

But who wants to drive speed .

This streach was dam good full of thick forest and I was not driving more than 35KM/Ps per hr and even sometimes less .I only hear my car sound and the silence of the jungle Thanks god Some place in the world we have the nature preserved. I have no words to explain the beauty of the nature .

We saw lot and lots of deers near to the Road and when I stopped my car to take some photos of them I spotted a Tusker Crossing the Road WOW that send u chill on ur spine I though I got my money back it was reallly beautiful to see such a elephants and deers in the Wild comapred to Zoos . I had been moving very very slowly and watching every bit of nature.

I had spotted a female Peackoke it was dam beautiful and some cars stopped on the way saying there was a tiger I too stopped just managed a small glimple of it (Found very very luck atleast I saw ) even though I can travel that 38KM streach in just 45 to 50 min I traveled for almost 2hrs enjoying every Bit of it .I liked this forest comapred to Bandipur and Muttanga or Madumalai forestss which I had visited

Finally we reached the other end of the gate and my home stay was just 2KM from the gate  at 11:30AM

MY ACCOMODATION:

I had Booked my Accomodation in a Home stay called Holiday Stay Home (Vimala Estate (opposite to Ganapathy Temple Kuta  ) Phone No 9945286608 land line 08274- 244407  . Managed by a person called Narendra( Pattu ) . The moment I entered the Home stay I was so happy to see that it is in an estate of 22 acers of coffeee/Pepper palantaion and it is surrandared by lot of trees Cut off from the village Isolated/Silent except the sounds of the Birds and just 2KM from the nagehole national park 10 KM from Irrupa Falls and 7 Km from Waynard wild life safari. Personally when I travel I preffer to stay in a place where nature is abudunt and there is no glimpse of city life and this is the place  . The Man of the home stay Narendra greeted me so well and gave me the Rooms which I was so much thrilled that I cannt explan. Till my vision I can see the plantaion of coffee and lot and lot of trees as if I am in a forest and the person was so good that we felt that we had been with him from years. I have no words to explain just few phots of the estate that I have uploaded where my Mom and my self spend in walking. He arranged me the food immedatly Home cooked food rice/sambar/rasam/curry/tomatoa bath curd etc . and we have been asking coffee and Milk for my daughter so many times and I found it starnge he has not charged anything for that (To be presise he chargeds 600 per person which included Lunch/Dinnner/Breafast and campfire for that he has not charged anything  Vegeterian not sure abt non veg options ) ok let me move from the Home stay .

At 3:00 we went to Nagerhole safarre

charges 95 rs per person and the safaree was dam good compared to other safarees we spotted some elephants/Bisions/Smabar/Wild boars /Needless to say deers . it lasted for 90 min compared to badinipur etc etc it is dam good (Donnt take Jeep safari here as it expensive )

after the safari we came back to the home stay at around 6:00 PM and planning for the next day with the snacks and coffee that was provided for us and then had the camp fire lit and spend with the sounds of the Nature . had food at 9:00 PM (the time we told to arrange the food ) and it was no different tasted like our home .

Next day mornng we left the home stay for the Waynard wild life safaree which is 4 km at around 6:30 AM they donnt have jeeps we hired a private jeeps out side the safaree(donnt worry u have loads of jeeps out side the national park) cost 300 for Jeep+ rs 10 per person+100 Forest guide  spotting the same animals what we found over nagerhole and then came back . to the home stay and the Breafast was ready we had heavy breakfast and then left for IRRUPU Falls.

IRRUU falls is just 12 Km all I have the doubt is I have a daughter of 2yrs and father of 68 year and how much treck do I need and how difficult it will be as it will be tough for me to go with my daughter in one hand with lot of questions in my mind I moved ahead though some dirty bad roads and reacjed tje spot . paid the entence fee of 10 rs per person and then started trecking

But guess what it was easy one I felt 20 to 30 steps some walking on the plain road and some steps and some walking ( Around 100 to 120 steps ) in a distance of 500 mts and the steps are also no so steep Family can go around easily comapred to other falls . Finally we reached the place were u can see the full falls it was dam beautifull we are much delighted to see them and took lots and lots of phots ( GO  TO THIS PLACE AS IT DOESNT NEED MUCH HARD WORK I TRAVELLED THIS PLACE WITH LIFTING MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHER AND MY FATHR OF 68 YEAR AGE AND GUESS WHAT I DONNT HAVE GOOD STAMINA )  But if u need to take a bath or go to the temple u need to climb more and we donnt have that much patience Couple with No small kids can do that easily and finally we reached the home stay and paid the amount of 600*4=2400 I asked does he carge any thing for the camp fire or milk or coffees that we orders every 2 hrs once he denied greeted well gave some oragnges and lot of other fruits from his estate and we left driving slowly via the national park enjoying the drive since it was noon we have not spotted anything other than deers and once we crossed the gate back to the  city roads with traffice  with lots and lots of memoryies

TIP:make sure accomodation is booked well in advance in any hotetes or home stay u preffer
