Help & Support:

This is my 1st ms review. I benefited so much from here that I thought I should share my views too.

I got this Racold Altro 25 litre 5yrs back. I really did not do any search or study the reviews or anything. When I walked into the showroom Racold looked more neat and modern compared to my Venus Splash 25L at my native town.

I had no idea the key components in a storage water heaters is the heating element & the inner tank quality. This Altro model is the basic – has steel tank and steel heating element. My neighborhood in bangalore, its hard water.

After 5yrs the tank gave away started leaking, that’s their guarantee period 5yrs. But the concern was the heating element. It was always the racold service & not any private. I had to replace the heating element every 6 to 7 months. It costs Rs.700/- toRs.800/- there is a regular one and bit lengthier one, around 1600/- per year. Now the tank 4000/- The service person always told the same reason, the water around this area is hard and this problem is common in this area.

Only after the tank gone I realized that our neighboring flat had no such issues. They have Bajaj heater. Thank God, I never replaced the tank as suggested by the service person. After that I did quite a study on net. Decided to replace the brand and bought Venus magma 25L. enamel glass lined inner tank – ceramic heating element. Splash has copper tank – but a little more expensive.

Racold has a superior model named Eterno which has better specification. But since the Splash at my native town is trouble free for last 8yrs I preferred Venus. When the plumber was fitting the new Venus and removed out Racold, I had lifted both empty heaters, the Venus was so much heavier compared to Racold. It could due to the glass lined inner tank.

So for hard water prone areas buying the basic models is a waste of money.
