Writing about Pondicherry is very difficult.because all my memory pop out and I fell like going there. This is an awesome place. This is the best place to visit in south India. You can check my facebook profile to see the photographs.
I go there every year on January 24th as they celebrate Freedom Jam - Pondy Music Festival on republic day.and it is a great experience. The culture is mix of both French and south Indian. Yes, I mean it. You see French road signs! is not that cool?
It is not very expensive. You have variety of lodging option in cheaper rates if you plan well in advanced. One important tip: if you are a groupof friends, stay at Youth Hostel Rs.200/- per day per person and it is on beach. You can also rent huts on beach.they are also not too expensive.
The crowd is very descent.so perfect place for couples. It is an union territory so alcohol is cheap.but the atmosphere is not like Goa.Pondy is not a party place. It is more of soul refreshing place. Calm and quite French experience. Authentic South Indian food and authentic French food. Drop by to the restaurant'La Masion Rose' you get amazing crowd, amazing jazz music and genuine French food at not very heavy cost. Pondy beach is usually crowded, but you can walk around as in the evening it is no vehicle zone. OMG.those walks! Pure nostalgia! Go to Le cafe the 100 yr old coffee shop.brewing their 24X7! Aurbindo ashram fro your soul.quite place. The Auroville the global planned village.once you go there you would like to go there every year.or you might think of settling down their. But, I would suggest go there alone or with your partner.for group of friends the place is dull. But, best for intimate moments with yourself or with your partner. There is os much to write. I can even write a book about it. And don't forget to meditate. I love Pondy.:)
