This new update/software is from Sun and worth trying. It is open source product and project. It is a multi platform. For full office software like MS office, the original cost more than Rs. 10, 000, where as this cost nothing. Free. For new users, this may be a little tough, but once look around you can mastered it.
This has MS equivalent of word (= write ), Spreadsheet (= calc), powerpoint (= Impress), Access ( =base) and Drawing & Math for complex mathematical problems. Its features are similar to those of the other office suits. You should try and see for yourself. It is really worth.
If you face problems encountered, you are having help, to look and solve the same. Open office works transparently with a variety of file formats. It is available in more than 20 languages.
Also supports Office 2007 file formats. It runs on Solaris, Linux apart from Windows
