Talking about Nokia 2600 after owning the phone for about

5 months. It is a truly basic phone. I won't give you much specifications of it because I know

you all are smart enough to check https://nokia.co.in . Well to start about it, it’s a Nokia so no reception or voice clarity problems associated with it. Look wise it’s pretty stylish with all the buttons located at right places.

This phone is basically made for general phone users who only need to talk and sms. The new age teens who need extra features such as MMS , GPRS , JAVA , FM RADIO , WALLPAPER and POLYPHONIC RINGTONES DOWNLOADS etc stay away from it as it has none. Data conectivity is also limited to uploading and downloading contacts , sms etc. No uploading and downloading of pictures , wallpapers , themes etc. allowed. Still I attached an external FM for Nokia 2600 and will be buying a datacable for the phone.

Talking about the good side of it, the phone has decent features which are really useful such as a calendar with reminders for keeping appointments. A large variety of themes, screensavers and wallpapers add life to it. The inbuilt JAVA games such as mobile soccer, bounce and millennium mission are very addictive and hard to resist even if u have finished the game several times. I feel 200 inbuilt phonebook memory with 230 contacts on SIM is sufficient for everyone but Nokia‘s age old system of one phone number for one contact is a downside. Again it has about 80 inbox, 40 outbox and 20 drafts memory which is also acceptable. The most unique feature in this phone is its screened sms and call feature which can easily filter unwanted sms and phone calls . Again it has a very powerful unit converter with spreadsheet (like MS excel in windows) truly useful in keeping day to day expenses. Polyphonic ring tones are simply amazing but a bit low in volume though. It has five way navigation system so those upgrading from Nokia 1100 and 3315 won’t find this different. There are no dedicated buttons for call and hang up so the phone is pretty confusing in that manner but one gets use to it after a week or so. The display is also the best I have seen at 128*128 4k screen better than those of 6610 , 3100 and 7250. It has Icon navigation which means all the menu items in a single page (Grid) , a most wanted feature making it easy for a person to access the menu items quickly. External speaker is also good for loudspeaker function. Nokia claims this phone has about 4 megabites of internal memory which I still failed to understand in what manner.

With this phone Nokia has also put more emphasis on regular features such as sms by providing sms counter , timed sms , long sms up to 900 characters , attaching signatures and distribution lists. One can download monophonic ring tones via sms and send it with the help of a composer. Picture messages can be sent too. Timed profiles are also a one of its kind feature which automatically activates silent mode on a meeting and then deactivates it automatically.

Battery life is a big letdown with just going about 2 days with charging time of about 2 hours. The phone is a bit heavy (96 grams) as compared to new slim phones around. But the thing is that one must check the phone for the first few hours and get it exchanged if it has any problems. The reason being is that I always had some reception related problems with Nokia handsets but only restricted to a few defective sets.

When I got this phone it retailed for about Rs4700 but the price drastically fell and now it’s around Rs3350 or so. Forgot to mention that this phone is already a great a success.
