Hello folks,

I have been using MY NIKON F55 SLR CAMERA since 13 months now and till now it has given me around 8-9 rolls of WONDERFUL photos and I tell you all of them are good. Not even a single snap has gone bad till now. I wish I could have attached the photos taken by my camera for you all to see. I was MAD about CAMERAS ever since my childhood and had a point and shoot camera(Kodak KB10) which was also a good one but I was always fascinated by these SLR cameras and was always had a dream to own one! I bought my Nikon F55 SLR camera some 13 months back and I have been using it since then. I would like to write my experience on it.

A compact, lightweight AF SLR, the Nikon F55 offers superior performance, housed in a classic Nikon design, at an affordable price.I bought it for Rs 17,000 Rs in Bangalore.

The Nikon F55 is meant for those who want to be able to easily take SLR-quality pictures -- including first-time SLR users. It has an intelligent layout, with buttons and dials conveniently placed to facilitate use. It also offers you the AUTO mode, which gives users point-and-shoot operational simplicity, allowing us to focus on the subject or scene that we wish to capture.

Features of Nikon F55 SLR Camera

Intelligent design for easy operation

Three-Area Autofocus system : The F55 features three autofocus areas, enabling wide horizontal coverage.

D Matrix Metering: The F55 incorporates a microcomputer which analyzes the data and performs the calculations required to ensure proper exposure.

Matrix Balanced Fill-Flash: The user can take advantage of this feature when using the intelligent built-in Speedlight. In low-light conditions, it automatically delivers the correct foreground and background illumination balance. When shooting in bright light, it fills in or eliminates shadows on subjects with backlighting or high-contrast.

AUTO mode: It makes Nikon-quality SLR photography as simple as point-and-shoot

Vari-Program modes tailored to specific scenes and subjects significantly enhance the F55’s versatility (Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up, Sports Continuous, Night Portrait)

Auto-Multi Program (P), Shutter-Priority Auto (S), Aperture-Priority Auto (A), and Manual (M) exposure modes deliver precise exposure control, expanding creative potential

Exposure compensation and Auto Exposure Bracketing are extremely helpful when shooting under complicated lighting conditions, or when experimenting with different exposure settings

Multiple exposure: This enables capture of as many images as desired in a single frame, further expanding creative possibilities

Red-Eye Reduction minimizes the red-eye effect in portraits of people and animals

Diopter adjustment enables users to make compensation necessary for a clear view

------------------------------------

The camera is light and compact, and it is very very easy to use(With some practice after shifting from point and shoot cameras) and also you could Carry it for long periods of time with out any issues. It has all the necessary modes that you would require for any kind of shoot.

The silver finish is not of a hard wearing standard. i.e. It is made up of plastic and that is the reason it is very light. It has a plastic lens mount. Which might be on the negative side as it might not be able to handle Telescopic lens which are heavier or you have to be very careful while using it with a TELE.

The camera comes with 28-80 mm zoom ''G'' series lenses. The lens mount is plastic and so will not like the heavier pro lens, but is great for a wide or super wide angle.Overall it’s a good camera. It has all the modes you need to take excellent photos. A good clear display and the viewfinder are not too dim in low light.

But one thing which is very important is that, you need to take care of this baby with UTMOST care !! While packing it back after the photo shot, make sure it is clean and you cover it with a lint free cloth. These SLR cameras have every chance of FUNGAL ATTACK and once this happen, you need to take the lens to the dealer for cleaning !!

So those of you who have the SLR cameras, please do take care of them as they are one of the best things that could have happened to you. :-)

Your comments are most welcome....
