Less of a wedding more of a canvas to paint the change coming but in all in the end kudos for 2-3 hr of real entertainment. A breath of fresh air!! A calm sea with lot of internal turbulence is how I will like to depict this movie. Please don't be taken away by the title Monsoon Wedding, wedding is there but the director Mira Nair has also portrayed, in an awesome manner, lot of social traumas and changes that are happening in the Indian society. Take for instance Dube's mother (An old lady) showing interest in stock market, dubey ji marrying a christian without even thinking once, pre-marital affair (well that was the basis of the story), https://delhi.com now that was pretty interesting and the starting scene taking the bollywood for a ride, child molestation, relations and yeah a short lesson on how to win a gal over.

I think in all the direction is great, characterisation is even better. Nasuridin shah is great like always and Mr. Dubey was done a great job to get all the laurels. Cinematography, script and editing has also added to the quality of the film.
